Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi has endured a couple of tough months andthe pacer was once again in the news on Tuesday (May 14). Afridi, currently in Dublin for Pakistan’s tour of Ireland was seen involved in a heated argument with an Afghanistan fan with the video going viral on the internet. The incident quickly went viral on social media, with fans sharing their opinions. It was later reported that the fan was not allowed to watch the Ireland-Pakistan second T20I match and was asked to leave.
Afridi gets involved in a heated argument
It's reported that the cricket fan holding the Afghanistan flag misbehaved with Afridi and used foul language. The incident took place at the entry gates of the stadium after which security personnel intervened and the fan was removed from the ground. Initially, the fan had entered his designated sitting area in the stadium stands, but complaints from the Pakistan Cricket Board and its management to the local authority saw the fan taken out.
While Afridi did not do much wrong in the incident, him making headlines in recent times is not new. He was appointed the Pakistan T20I captain after Babar Azam stepped down from his role in November. However, he was relieved of his duties right after his first series as his side lost 4-1. He came under more criticism after his Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Lahore Qalandars won only one match during the 10-match season.

Afridi, 24, will now look to get back to his best and win the three-match T20I series against Ireland. Currently, the series is at 1-1 with the final T20I taking place on Tuesday with the winner bagging the series.
On the bigger picture, Pakistan’s focus will be to win the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies which starts on June 1. Pakistan are yet to publicly reveal their squad for the T20 World Cup having submitted the names to ICC.
Pakistan are in the same group as India and will look to win their second T20 World Cup under the returning skipper Babar Azam.
