BGT 2024-25: Ravi Shastri wants India batters to 'think about' last Australia tour's performance in Perth

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has said that the home series whitewash against New Zealand will be playing on India batters' mind when they take on Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test in Perth from November 22. The series loss against New Zealand was India's first ever whitewash at home.
“It's playing on their mind, confidence-wise. You can't go to the negatives. Think about the positives," Shastri said on ICC Review podcast.
“Think about what you did in Australia last time around and take it ahead from there. Put what happened behind you. These are different conditions. And some of the tracks in Australia when you get in are probably the best to bat, So I think it will be totally different, the conditions when they get out there,” he added.
It is to be noted that India haven't lost a Test series against Australia since 2014. The two sides have played four Test series since then, two in India and two in Australia, and India have managed to win all four of them. Shastri was the team's coach during both their series victories in Australia.
India, however, have a lot to ponder ahead of the first Test as they will be without regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

After Perth, India play the day-night second Test in Adelaide from December 6-10. The third Test will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14-18 before the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26-30. The last and final Test will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 3-7.
