Ashish Nehra backs Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir to come good for India ahead of Sri Lanka ODI series
Team India is all set for the latest transition phase as they take on Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series starting on Saturday (Jul24). The tour will mark the start of the Gautam Gambhir coaching era where fresh names have got opportunities in the T20I set-up while old faces like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retain their places in the ODI set-up. Speaking ahead of the tour, former India World Cup winner Ashish Nehra opened up on the linking of Virat and Gambhir who will be sharing the same dressing room while on national duty.

According to Nehra, there shouldn’t be any issues between the pair despite having clashed several times in the opposite dugout during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Nehra thinks, both are good professionals and fight till the end for the jerseys they don.
"Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are two very passionate individuals. Whenever they play for a team, they can turn up against the opposition. But, when they are together in a dressing room, they are together, united for the team. You're talking about Virat Kohli, who has experience of over 16-17 years, Gautam Gambhir is also experienced,” said Nehrawhile speaking to Sports Tak.

“The things on the outside, people get an impression about it. It's not just Gambhir and Kohli, so many players have had on-field spats in the past, but when they play together for a team, they have done well as a player, as a coach-captain, as a coach and senior player," added Nehra.
