MG Windsor crossover EV: 4 key features to consider before buying

JSW MG Motor India recently launched the Windsor crossover electric vehicle in the Indian market at INR 10 lakhs (introductory, ex-showroom) with various unique feature propositions. The vehicle offers the best of both worlds - the expanse of an SUV and the comfort of a sedan. Bookings for the vehicle will commence on October 3 with the beginning of Navratri in the country. MG is offering the Windsor EV in three variants - Excite, Exclusive, and Essence; and in four colour options: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

The Windsor is the third all-electric model by MG in India after the ZS EV and Comet. The vehicle is expected to draw a strong reception from those looking to buy an electric vehicle but were skeptical about spending a massive sum. Below are the MG Windsor EV's key features that you may want to consider before finalizing an electric vehicle for your purchase:

1. Battery-as-a-service model: The unique selling proposition of MG Winsdor EV is that it offers the battery in a rental model rather than as a part of the vehicle's upfront cost. This means that the users can pay for the battery as per usage instead of paying an upfront cost for the battery, which usually contributes massively to the cost of an EV. In this flexible ownership program allows, MG is charging INR 3.5 per kilometer for the battery, which is just 40% of the per kilometer cost of other conventional fuels.

2. A range of up to 331 kilometers: Packed with a 38 kWh Li-ion battery pack and an IP67 certified PMS Motor, the MG Windsor EV promises a single charge range of 331 kilometers. The vehicle can deliver 100KW (136ps) of power and 200Nm of instant torque. The battery can be juiced up in just 40 minutes at any DC fast charger.

3.Infinity view glass roof: This is a first-in-segment feature which offers a panoramic fixed glass roof, letting in more light inside the cabin and making it feel more spacious. Usually, the mass market cars get a panoramic sunroof, which is different from the Windsor's glass roof. The sunroof can be opened and closed electronically or manually whereas the glass roof is a fixed glass pane in the roof of the vehicle.

4. MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform: MG has partnered with Reliance Jio for connectivity solutions in its cars and Windsor is the first vehicle to debut this platform. The infotainment system will house the MG App Store which is a hub of gaming, entertainment and learning activities powered by Jio.
