Negotiations and talks between the union and the city council have not yielded results with the union announcing on Friday (Apr 3) that the strike would continue.
The matter was also raised in the UK Parliament with Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemning the bin strike as "completely unacceptable". Starmer said he supported the Labour-run city council's decision to declare it a major incident.

Later, in a follow-up note on Friday, the Department of Homeland Security informed that the order was in error and that "the terms of your parole as originally issued remain unchanged at this time."
<h2>'Couldn't breathe normally'</h2>
A Ukrainian parolee, who wished to remain anonymous due to fear of retribution from the US government, described feeling overwhelmed upon receiving the email, saying she "couldn't breathe normally and was uncontrollably crying", according to news agency Reuters.
She said that she had renewed her immigration status in August 2024 and was told that it was valid for another two years.
The woman was baffled upon receiving the email and struggled to think of any reason she might be facing removal from the United States, wondering what she had done wrong.
She could think of no reason, saying, "I don't have as much as a parking ticket, don't post on social media."
Angela Boelens, president of IA NICE, an Iowa-based non-profit that has sponsored numerous Ukrainians, reported that at least two women, including one who is pregnant, received the letter.
"It's a very scary email. All of my families are in complete panic," Boelens said. "I'd been telling people they would have time after a revocation notice. But this letter is very different."

Videos and photos on social media, which were not verified by WION, showed bodies lying on a street. One video showed a plume of smoke rising into the evening sky.&nbsp;

Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Sergiy Lysak said on Telegram, "18... that is how many people were killed by the Russians when they launched a missile at Kryvyi Rig. Among them were nine children."&nbsp;
"This is the kind of pain you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy," Lysak said, further adding that 61 people were injured in the attack, among them 12 children.&nbsp;

Lysak also mentioned that one additional person was killed and three others injured in a separate drone attack on Kryvyi Rig, which is the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky. This industrial city had a pre-war population of around 600,000 people.
Zelensky denounced the attack, saying that it showed that Russia did not want a ceasefire.&nbsp;
"There is only one reason why this continues: Russia does not want a ceasefire, and we see it. The whole world sees it," Zelensky posted on Telegram.&nbsp;

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US will know within weeks whether or not Russia is serious about pursuing peace with Ukraine. He further said that President Donald Trump was not "going to fall into the trap of endless negotiations" with Moscow.&nbsp;
"We're testing to see if the Russians are interested in peace," Rubio told journalists in Brussels.&nbsp;

US mineral deal details will be ready next week, says Ukraine's Zelensky

United States President Donald Trump was reportedly in touch with representatives from India, Vietnam and Israel to negotiate trade deals. Trump announced a 26 per cent tariff on Indian products as part of his "discounted" reciprocal tariff plan. The White House said that these duties were set to come into force on April 9, but citing a source, CNN reported that trade deals are being discussed that could alleviate proposed tariffs on these countries before a deadline.&nbsp;

In South Asia, many countries, including China, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam, were hit harder by US tariffs. Trump unveiled tariffs of 34 per cent on China, one of its largest trading partners. He slapped new tariffs of 37 per cent on Bangladesh. He hit Vietnam with a 46 per cent levy and Cambodia 49 per cent. Vietnam is a manufacturing powerhouse heavily reliant on exports.&nbsp;

<h2>How did India react?&nbsp;</h2>
While unveiling the tariffs, Trump had said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a "great friend" but that he had not been "treating us right".&nbsp;
Meanwhile, India's Department of Commerce said on Thursday it is "carefully examining the implications of the various measures". It also added in a statement that it was "studying the opportunities that may arise due to this new development", a likely reference to regional competitors being hit harder.&nbsp;
An initial White House chart revealed the tariffs listed India at 26 per cent, but an annexe cited by New Delhi put the duties at 27 per cent.&nbsp;

"The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days," he added.
