The study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences states that the most impacted would be southern Washington, northern Oregon, and northern California. These regions are densely populated, meaning people would lose their houses.
Tina Dura, lead author of the study and assistant professor of geosciences in the College of Science, and her team created thousands of earthquake models to estimate how much land would sink would be caused by a future Cascadia megaquake.

As quoted by CNN, Yuriy Belousov, who is the head of the war crimes department at the Ukrainian Prosecutor General&rsquo;s Office, said that forensic examination found "numerous signs of torture and ill-treatment&hellip; including abrasions and hemorrhages on various parts of the body, a broken rib and possible traces of electric shock". Belousov further stated that the experts have determined that Roshchyna sustained injuries when she was still alive.
As reported by CNN, Roshchyna&rsquo;s colleagues at Ukrainska Pravda said her body was returned from Russia with missing organs.&nbsp;
"Victoria Roshchyna's body is in Ukraine. The journalist's body was returned as part of an exchange at the end of February," Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Yurchyshyn said Thursday as quoted by AFP.&nbsp;
Officials chose not to reveal her body had been returned until they were absolutely certain it was her, Yurchyshyn said.&nbsp;

Roshchyna was detained by Russian forces in March 2022 while reporting on military operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. She was held for ten days before being released. Despite this, she continued to report on the conflict.&nbsp;

The US and Ukraine signed a "historic" economic partnership deal, agreeing to split profits from the sale of Ukrainian minerals and rare earths in the future. The United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund will be established by the minerals deal. According to the Trump administration, the fund will assist in repaying an estimated $175 billion in aid given to Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
"I am glad to announce the signing of today's historic economic partnership agreement," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a video message describing the deal as "historic."

The Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine will support new projects pertaining to those resources "as well as in related infrastructure or processing," the minister said on Facebook.&nbsp;
"This agreement signals clearly to Russia that the Trump Administration is committed to a peace process centred on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine over the long term," Bessent said, further adding that It&rsquo;s time for this cruel and senseless war to end. The killing must stop and both the United States and the government of Ukraine look forward to quickly operationalising this historic economic partnership.&nbsp; "President Trump envisioned this partnership between the American people and the Ukrainian people to show both sides&rsquo; commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine.
