Flares were lit and slogans of “Long Live the Intifada” were raised by anti-Israel protesters outside a downtown Manhattan exhibit which memorialised the October 7 Nova Music Festival massacre's victims on Monday (June 10).

The police clashed with the protesters when they took out a rally in front of the Nova Music Festival Exhibition on Wall Street in a “citywide day of rage for Gaza”.

In the footage of the demonstration, the protesters were seen chanting “Long Live the Intifada” and “Israel go to hell". A red flare was also lit by the protesters before they received a warning to put it out from an NYPD official.

The protesters and police faced off when officers asked protesters to remain outside the barriers which were lined on the street.

Multiple protests have been organised against Israel since the Jewish state retaliated to the Hamas attack that happened on October 7 last year and led to the killing of 1,200 people.

After the attack, the Israeli military launched a military campaign in Gaza which has now led to the death of more than 37,000 people, as per the Hamas-led health ministry. The protest held on Monday was organised by the pro-Palestinian group Within Our Lifetime.

In the early hours of October 7, Hamas gunmen breached the border between Gaza and Israel and moved towards the Nova music festival which had continued through the night.

The music festival was being held in the Negev desert in southern Israel and there were thousands of Israelis and foreign nationals. The festival marked the Jewish holiday Sukkot and was touted as an event which celebrated “unity and love".

As the terrible incident unfolded, revellers jumped in their cars and tried to take shelter in nearby bomb shelters. However, a lot of them were fired at point-blank range, shot at with rocket-propelled grenade launchers and live gunfires.

The armed captors either killed people or dragged them away. Hamas took several festivalgoers hostage. More than 260 dead bodies were discovered at the Nova festival site itself after the massacre that shook the world.
