Coronavirus in Italy

Coronavirus figures have been rising consistently in Italy. On Tuesday, the country reported 79 new deaths against 65 the day before. In terms of cases, Italy recorded 283 news cases against 280 on Monday.

The total death toll since the outbreak on February 21 stands at 34,043. It is the fourth-highest behind the United States, Britain and Brazil.

The country has total 235,561 cases, which is seventh highest behind those of the United States, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Britain and India.

People registered as currently carrying the illness fell to 32,872 from 34,730 the day before.

Lombardy accounts for 192 out of 283 cases reported on Tuesday. 263 people are currently in ICU.

168,646 have recovered in the country.

The agency said 2.676 million people had been tested for the virus as of Tuesday against 2.643 million on Monday, out of a population of around 60 million.
