A major prison uprising has rocked Venezuela after hundreds of inmates took control of the Barinas Judicial Detention Center, accusing prison authorities of torture and abuse. Protesters chanted “No more torture” as fires and chaos spread through the facility. Authorities later fired prison director Elvis Macuare Guerrero, who inmates blamed for violent treatment and harsh conditions.
