Russian missile and drone strikes have severely damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, plunging large parts of Kyiv into darkness and freezing temperatures. With daytime temperatures falling below minus 12 degrees Celsius and nights dropping even lower, thousands of residents are struggling without electricity, water and heating. Ukraine’s state grid operator says the attacks are aimed at disconnecting the capital, as Moscow intensifies its campaign to cripple critical infrastructure during the harsh winter.
