Mole-Rat’s DNA Repair Mechanism Offers Promising Longevity Clues
In one study, researchers isolated an anti-aging molecule from the blood of young mice, which extended the lifespan of older mice by 22.7% and reduced age-related decline. In a second study, they found four mutations in naked mole-rats' DNA repair enzyme (cGAS) that enhance genome stability. When inserted into fruit flies, it created "superflies" with extended vitality and resistance to aging.
