He further said, &ldquo;Smoking decreases calcium absorption and reduces blood flow to bones, making them weaker.&rdquo; He added that smoking also negatively impacts the levels of estrogen and testosterone hormones, which help maintain bone strength, increasing the risk of osteoporosis.&nbsp;
Alcohol, on the other hand, interferes with the body&rsquo;s ability to absorb calcium and impairs vitamin D metabolism in the body, which can result in bone loss. Similarly, caffeine also hinders calcium absorption in the body and can lead to bone thinning over time.
Carbonated beverages like sodas and energy drinks weaken bones as they contain phosphoric acid, which impairs calcium balance. In addition, consuming processed foods replaces nutrient-rich options, which can result in a low calcium, vitamin D, and protein intake. This can also lead to bone-related problems in young people.

Symptoms of herniated discs and back problems include back pain, stiffness and nerve pain, which radiates to the legs or arms.&nbsp;

The top three &ldquo;biggest contributors to you feeling nervous, anxious or on edge&rdquo; as per the poll are financial worries (37 per cent), work pressures (23 per cent) and job insecurity or unemployment (20 per cent). While social media (14 per cent) and climate change (10 per cent) were far behind on the list.

To beat the problem of unemployment which is common among the youth of China, a young graduate came up with the noble idea of making himself a walking resume by printing his curriculum vitae on a T-shirt. This attempt to attract the recruiters left the netizens also delighted.

21-year-old Song Jiale had recently got his bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University’s School of Geomatics which is in Hubei province, central China.

Song was planning to do an internship before beginning his postgraduate studies, however, he was unsuccessful despite numerous applications.

He then took inspiration from the elderly local people who hailed from his hometown in Henan province in central China. He had seen these people walk around advertising signs.&nbsp;

Getting inspired by this, Song decided to print his resume on a T-shirt.

“With so many people on the streets, I am like a walking billboard, bound to be noticed by employers and HR professionals,” wrote Song on Xiaohongshu, which is China's application similar to Instagram.

On the front side of his T-shirt he got printed, “Class of 2024 looking for work, please see the back.”

Meanwhile, the backside was a copy of his resume which clearly mentioned his name, major degree subject, university, student activities and internships.

He also added a QR code over his photo to make contacting him easier for others.&nbsp;

Next to the QR code was written “HR people who are impressed, and any fellow graduates looking to network, just scan this!”

“Finding a job is as hard as finding a partner, let’s help each other out,” read the message.

Wearing this CV T-shirt, Song travelled from his hometown to Hubei by train.

Chinese scientists claim to have discovered an anti-ageing component in the blood of young mice, with the longest surviving mouse in their research living for up to 1,266 days which are almost 120-130 years in human age.

According to a peer-reviewed study published in the journal Nature Ageing, male mice aged 20 months, with a median lifetime of 840 days, received weekly injections of the blood component. The researchers reported a 22.7 per cent rise to a median of 1,031 days.

The injections also significantly reduced age-related functional deterioration in old mice, according to Zhang Chenyu, co-leader of the study.

Zhang claimed that public fears about other ethical issues, such as the possibility that young people's blood will be used immorally, were "exaggerated misconceptions." He stated that if the treatment is ever established, it will be given via medications and not via direct plasma exchange. This knowledge can help the development of simplified and targeted treatments.

According to corresponding author Chen Xi, who is also from Nanjing University, "what we are doing is showing at the cellular level what is actually working in the blood, what are the most potent rejuvenating factors."

According to the Chinese team, previous study has mostly focussed on the possible anti-aging capabilities of soluble protein components found in youthful blood.

It is commonly established that sEVs transport nucleic acids and proteins across cells, hence enabling information transmission. The scientists reported that by recognising and using this process, they were able to observe greater survival periods than in previous studies on animals.

"[The 22.7 per cent increase in lifespan] is one of the longest records in the world," Chen said,&nbsp;adding that the mice in the most recent study were reasonably active at the end of their lives.

Chen stated that the research was only the beginning, with many scientific issues still to be solved before the discoveries can be clinically evaluated and developed into a medicine. Before any prospective cure is developed, trials must be conducted in large primates that are more similar to humans, he added.
