Israeli far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich has approved the long-frozen E1 settlement project a move critics say would cut the West Bank in two, isolate East Jerusalem, and 'bury' any hope for a Palestinian state. The plan comes as Palestinians in Gaza face starvation, and settler attacks in the West Bank surge.
