Is it time for nutrition-based taxes on beverages in India?

India's non-alcoholic beverages market is expected to grow to INR 1.47 trillion by 2030. According to a report by Indian economic think tank ICRIER, carbonated beverages are the most popular among Indians, followed by bottled water and fruit beverages and juices. The report emphasised the importance of non-alcoholic beverages to the Indian economy.
