France Turns To India After FCAS Collapse: Offers Partnership On 6th-Gen Fighter Jet

A major shift is underway in global defence cooperation.
After the collapse of Europe's ambitious Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project, France is looking beyond Europe and has opened the door to partnering with India on a next-generation sixth-generation fighter aircraft.
The move follows years of disagreements between French and German stakeholders over control, technology sharing, and industrial leadership, which ultimately derailed one of Europe's most important defence programs.
Now, Paris is reportedly offering India deeper cooperation, including technology transfers and joint development opportunities for futuristic combat aircraft. For New Delhi, the proposal could strengthen its aerospace ecosystem, accelerate indigenous defence manufacturing, and support its long-term ambitions in advanced military aviation.
