<p>A diamond thief called Lulu Lakatos, who stole $5 million, has been asked to pay just $340 for executing a heist in the United Kingdom.</p>

<p>The con woman had posed as a gem expert to steal diamonds by swapping them for pebbles from luxury Mayfair jewellers Boodles.</p>

<p>The 60-year-old is serving a five-and-a-half-year sentence after she was found guilty of conspiracy to steal last year over the plot likened to a Hollywood heist movie.</p>

<p>In 2016, CCTV footage from the firm’s basement showed the moment the purse was put into Lakatos’s handbag and switched for a duplicate by an accomplice.</p>

<p>The gems, which included a 20-carat heart-shaped diamond worth more than $4.1 million, were to be kept in a locked bag in the jeweller's vault until payment was made.</p>

<p>When Boodles' diamond expert opened the bag the next day after becoming suspicious, she discovered seven tiny rocks.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After less than three hours of stealing the diamonds, she had fled the UK for France.</p>

<p>Prosecutor Philip Stott said the diamonds had been "stolen by the defendant by sleight of hand".</p>

<p>"The conspiracy in which she is alleged to have played an integral and central part was one of the highest possible sophistication, planning, risk and reward," he told Southwark Crown Court in London.</p>

<p>Last September, Lakatos was arrested in France on a European arrest warrant and extradited to the United Kingdom.</p>

<p>Max Fosh registered the company online as: unlimited money limited&nbsp;and in the box which asked what would the company be doing, he posted - making money, however, an error popped&nbsp;up which asked&nbsp;him to choose the company's business activity.</p>

<p>Fosh&nbsp;casually ticked&nbsp;the box which said:&nbsp;manufacture of "macaroni, noodles, couscous and similar farinaceous products". However, he admitted&nbsp;that he does not understand what "farinaceous" means but says "that's what the company does".</p>

<p>His bid to become a billionaire went viral on the net as users had a lot of fun.</p>

PM Johnson takes to Weibo to slam Putin; Chinese netizens, Russia slam move

<p>A micrometeorite slammed into a satellite and caused an internet outage in Australia, it has been revealed. Internet services provided by NBN Co in Australia were affected. The seven-hour net outage took place in December last year.</p>

<p>On December 21 last year, nearly 40 per cent of the company's internet users in remote and regional parts of Australia 7 hours after 8:30 pm</p>

<p>Gavin Williams, chief development officer of NBN Co told Australian Senate on Tuesday that the company investigated cause of the internet outage and it was found that most likely cause was an impact due to a micrometeorite</p>

<p>“It cannot be 100% characterised as this but all the evidence points to a micrometeorite that impacted the satellite,” he said. “It effectively makes [the] satellite’s body rotate while it remains in its orbit. So the satellite is no longer pointing at the appropriate spot on Earth [and] the payload – the transmission system on that satellite – is effectively switched off for that period.”</p>

<p>Williams was quoted by The Guardian. He added that after micrometeorite impact, the satellite was able to recover. Most of the customers were able to gain access to internet within 7 hours but 573 customers went two weeks without internet.</p>

<p>Williams said that it took a while for the company to really figure out what was the problem in these 573 cases. When the issue was realised, Gavin said that the company was ready to call employees from leave to dispatch them to these 600 locations in rural Australia. On December 21 last year, nearly 40 per cent of the company's internet users in remote and regional parts of Australia 7 hours after 8:30 pm Gavin Williams, chief development officer of NBN Co told Australian Senate on Tuesday that the company investigated cause of the internet outage and it was found that most likely cause was an impact due to a micrometeorite “It cannot be 100% characterised as this but all the evidence points to a micrometeorite that impacted the satellite,” he said. “It effectively makes [the] satellite’s body rotate while it remains in its orbit. So the satellite is no longer pointing at the appropriate spot on Earth [and] the payload – the transmission system on that satellite – is effectively switched off for that period.” Williams was quoted by The Guardian. He added that after micrometeorite impact, the satellite was able to recover. Most of the customers were able to gain access to internet within 7 hours but 573 customers went two weeks without internet. Williams said that it took a while for the company to really figure out what was the problem in these 573 cases. When the issue was realised, Gavin said that the company was ready to call employees from leave to dispatch them to these 600 locations in rural Australia. <p>"They don't want Mexican avocados to get into the United States because it would rule in the United States because of its quality," the president added.</p>

<p>Reports claim Mexico's Michoacán region has witnessed a sharp increase in crime in recent years around avocado plantations.</p>

<p>The Michoacan area is known for its turf wars between gangs with cartels reigning supreme. The Mexican army had recently entered Michoacan which is considered the stronghold of the Jalisco cartel.</p>

<p>Such a thing (not involving a web series) actually happened in the UK when Northern PowerGrid, a power distribution company, wrote away mother of all compensation cheques worth more than 2.3 trillion pounds to 74 customers for having experienced blackouts. These blackouts had taken place when storm Arwen hit the country in November last year.</p>

<p>This is surely an overkill right? Trillion pounds for a power outage.</p>

<p>One of the recepient of these cheques thought the same and posted an image of the cheque online</p>

<p>“Thank you for our compensation payment @Northpowergrid for the several days we were without power following #stormarwen. Before I bank the cheque, however, are you 100% certain you can afford this? #trillionpounds.” tweeted Gareth Hughes.</p>

Tenth resident turns 100 in this small Italian town setting a world record

<p>Our idea of life and nature is so Earth-centric that it's hard for us to imagine that some of other planets have atmospheres too. Take Mars for example. It has a very thin atmosphere. But atmosphere nonetheless. Winds blow&nbsp;on Martian&nbsp;surface too. It's just that its intensity is way less than that on Earth.</p>

<p>The European Space Agency (ESA) has released a picture that shows effect of Martian wind on the surface of the planet. Just like the wind here on Earth, the Martian wind sculpts surface of the red planet.</p>

<p>The image is of The Hooke Crater area located in Mars' southern highlands. The image was clicked from orbit by ESA and Russian space agency Roscosmos' ExoMars Trace Gas orbitter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ESA has shared the image on its Instagram handle. The ripples in the Martian soil and some hillocks can be seen in the picture.</p>

The image was clicked from orbit by ESA and Russian space agency Roscosmos' ExoMars Trace Gas orbitter. ESA has shared the image on its Instagram handle. The ripples in the Martian soil and some hillocks can be seen in the picture. <p>An American Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Kansas City International Airport (MCI) after an unruly passenger triggered the abrupt diversion of the flight.</p>

<p>Reports claim the man tried to storm into the cockpit and also tried to open the plane's door as the plane began its journey from Los Angeles airport to Ronald Reagan airport.</p>

<p>Passengers uploaded videos of the chaos on board the flight as it reportedly dived approximately 30,900 feet in less than eight minutes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a recent discovery, a team of Peruvian archaeologists have discovered fourteen pre-Incan mummies. Discovered at the archaeological complex of Cajamarquilla, these mummies are believed to be&nbsp;800-1000 years old.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Archaeologist and professor at UNMSM Pieter Van Dalen Luna said, "Andine societies believed that after passing away, people didn't disappear. Death wasn't an ending but a beginning, a transition to a parallel world."</p>

<p>She further added, "As part of the funerary rites other people were sacrificed in his honour. They were placed in the tomb's entrance so that they could accompany him in the path of the dead."</p>

<p>In 2016 residents of Palu city on Sulawesi island spotted the saltwater crocodile with a motorbike tyre around its neck, prompting conservation workers to try to lure it from a river.</p>

<p>But late on Monday, a local resident rescued the 5.2m (17ft) long reptile from its tight grasp. The reptile had usually been spotted sunbathing in the Palu River on Central Sulawesi.</p>

<p>"I just wanted to help, I hate seeing animals trapped and suffering," Tili said.</p>

<p>The first two attempts to rescue the croc failed, he explained, due to the ropes not being strong enough to contend with the croc's weight. He then turned to the nylon ropes used for towing boats.</p>

<p>Its shape was inspired by the Middle East palm-shaped symbol of power and protection, the Hamsa, which is also associated with the number five.</p>

<p>"The Enigma's price did not quite reach intergalactic levels. But what cannot be denied is that the Enigma is a diamond with unparallelled bragging rights," said Tobias Kormind, managing director of Europe's largest online jeweller, the Mayfair.</p>

<p>"The size, shape and source of the Enigma diamond make it groundbreaking and amazing," he added. "Most diamonds are cut into one of 10 popular shapes but the Enigma's form resembles a hand."&nbsp;</p>
