Paris Olympics will be remembered not just for all the sporting action and the controversies, but also for some heartfelt emotional moments. A female French athlete proposed to her boyfriend after finishing fourth in the 3000-metre steeplechase. Alice Finot had set a condition before the race started, according to which if she finished under nine minutes she would propose to her boyfriend. She came in fourth and ran under nine minutes, a new European record.
The 32-year-old went towards the stands after finishing the race where her boyfriend was sitting. She seemed to have a tag of sorts hidden inside her nameplate on her vest which she pulled out to propose to her boyfriend.
This wasn't the only proposal that happened in Paris. After Chinese badminton player Huang Ya Qiong won the gold medal in badminton mixed doubles title, her boyfriend Liu Yuchen surprised her with an engagement ring. Huang Ya Qiong and her partner Zheng Siwei beat South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun 21-8, 21-11. After she took her victory lap, Liu Yuchen presented her with a bouquet and then got down on one knee.
Huang said that she was extremely surprised. "I had been preparing for the match. Today I became an Olympic champion and I got engaged. I think the ring fits my finger really well," she told the media.

Surprisingly, Huang's partner Zheng Siwei also got engaged at the Tokyo Olympics after losing the gold medal match.

Another gesture that won hearts at the Paris Games was when a lifeguard dived into the water to fish out a swimming cap. After officials spotted something inside the pool, the proceedings were delayed. One man got up and took off his clothes to enter the pool. People started cheering him on. No one knew who he was until after he got out of the pool.
He was a lifeguard who came to the rescue at La Défense Arena on Sunday in front of 15,000 people. Wearing colourful budgie smugglers, he swam down and emerged from the water with a cap in his hand. Turns out, American swimmer Emma Weber had lost one of her swim caps in the pool and didn't even know about it. After he exited the pool, the crowd gave him a standing ovation, and he reciprocated the love by waving at them.
