<p>"TikTok videos showing how to steal cars made from 2015 to 2019 without push-button ignitions and immobilizing anti-theft devices has spread nationwide. This had led to at least 14 reported crashes and eight fatalities," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.</p>

<p>The software upgrade is free. It will be offered to 3.8 million Hyundai and 4.5 million Kia cars in the US.</p>

<p>The software "updates the theft alarm software logic to extend the length of the alarm sound from 30 seconds to one minute and requires the key to be in the ignition switch to turn the vehicle on," NHTSA said.</p>

<p>Not comment from TikTok was reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>USA Today reported last month that two major insurance companies had stopped offering new policies for Hyundai and Kia vehicles at high risk of theft.</p>

<p>Many 2015-19 model year Hyundai and affiliate Kia vehicles have no electronic immobilizers, which prevent break-ins and bypassing the ignition. The feature is standard on nearly all vehicles made by other manufacturers during that period.</p>

<p>While the tech world seems to have been shaken up with the arrival of ChatGPT—a chatbot developed by OpenAI—Apple co-founder and tech wizard Steve Wozniak has expressed scepticism over the artificial intelligence’s capabilities.</p>

<p>During a recent discussion with CNBC host Andrew Ross Sorkin on February 8, Wozniak pointed out one of the key qualities that differentiate technology from humans.</p>

<p>He said that while "ChatGPT is kind of impressive" and "useful to humans," it has the potential to make some serious errors.</p>

<p>"I spent an entire lifetime really studying the brain, the computer. The computer will never equal the brain. I was very negative at first on any human-made technology being equivalent to nature. So it'll never be equal," Wozniak said.</p>

<p>"When a machine could beat a human at chess, we said the same sort of things," Wozniak said. "Oh my gosh, it's so smart, you know, but it's just following different methods than a brain follows.</p>

<p>Fabio Urbina, one of the researchers, and the lead author of a paper detailing these findings told 'The Verge' a technology magazine that all they had to do was 'flip the switch' and say "instead of going away from toxicity, what if we go towards toxicity?".</p>

<p>The pricing for the flying taxis “will be in the range of a limousine service in Dubai, maybe slightly higher”,&nbsp;Bahrozyan said. The RTA describes limo services rates as “at least 30 per cent higher than taxi fares” in the city.</p>

Meta delays setting team budgets, triggers speculation of more layoffs

<p>Microsoft-backed ChatGPT is attracting significant interest in China, with country's homegrown firms reportedly rushing to integrate the technology into their products. The ChatGPT app, however, remains off-limits to users in China purportedly 'protected' by Beijing's 'great firewall'.&nbsp;ChatGPT supports Chinese language interaction and is highly capable of conversing in Chinese, which has helped drive its&nbsp;adoption in the country.&nbsp;OpenAI or ChatGPT itself is not blocked by Chinese authorities but OpenAI does not allow users in mainland China, Hong Kong, Iran, Russia and parts of Africa to sign up.</p>

<p>Reports say that people in China are using&nbsp;virtual private networks and foreign phone numbers to access the artificial intelligence-powered (AI) chatbot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"There is huge excitement around ChatGPT. Unlike the metaverse which faces huge difficulty in finding real-life application, ChatGPT has suddenly helped us achieve human-computer interaction," said Ding Daoshi, director of Beijing-based internet consultancy Sootoo was quoted as saying by Reuters.</p>

<p>OpenAI told Reuters it is working to make its services more widely available.</p>

<p>"While we would like to make our technology available everywhere, conditions in certain countries make it difficult or impossible for us to do so in a way that is consistent with our mission," the San Francisco-based firm said in an emailed statement cited by Reuters. "We are currently working to increase the number of locations where we can provide safe and beneficial access to our tools."</p>

<p>Netizens had a hard time getting onto several apps and platforms on Wednesday as several of the major ones witnessed outages. &nbsp;Alphabet Inc's YouTube was down for some users, Meta's Facebook and Instagram, both saw some problems, and so did Twitter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Outage tracking website Downdetector showed that at the peak of the YouTube outage, more than 60,000 user reports indicated issues with the video sharing app in the United States alone by 07:20 PM ET. The company later informed that its homepage was back up, although it didn't disclose how many users had been affected by the outage.</p>

<p>"The YouTube Homepage should be back for all of your video needs", YouTube said.</p>

<p><strong>Meta's apps were down</strong></p>

<p>Facebook and Instagram also saw brief outages and were back up for most users after some time. Meta said that a technical issue had disrupted services for thousands of people.</p>

<p>"A technical issue caused some people to have trouble accessing our products. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible," a Meta spokesperson told Reuters.</p>

<p>At the peak of the outage, Facebook users reported more than 11,000 incidents and Instagram users reported about 7,000 cases, according to Downdetector.com.</p>

<p>Users also faced issues with Facebook's online messaging service Messenger.</p>

<p><strong>Twitter outage</strong></p>

<p>Micro-blogging site Twitter also reported issues, with users unable to tweet on Wednesday, prematurely encountering a message that said "You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets."</p>

<p>Twitter was down for about 9,000 users in the United States at 5 pm Eastern time, according to Downdetector.com. The number of outages declined to 2,500 by 6 pm Eastern time.</p>

<p>"Twitter may not be working as expected for some of you. Sorry for the trouble. We're aware and working to get this fixed," tweeted Twitter's support account on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Elon Musk has considerably slashed Twitter's workforce over the last few months since acquiring the platform last October for $44bn.</p>

<p>Last month, Musk said&nbsp;Twitter had about 2,300 employees, down from around 8,000 when he took over.</p>

<p>CNBC had earlier this week reported that an AI chatbot which shares similarities with ChatGPT is being tested by Google and is called Apprentice Bard, in which LaMDA technology is being used.</p>

<p>LaMDA came into prominence last year after an engineer was first suspended and then dismissed by Google after he claimed that LaMDA was “sentient”.</p>

<p>Google had called the claims of Blake Lemoine about LaMDA, which is an acronym used for dialogue applications' language model, “wholly unfounded”.</p>

<p>In a conference call held with the investors of Alphabet, Pichai said, “In the coming weeks and months, we’ll make these language models available, starting with LaMDA so that people can engage directly with them.”</p>

<p>Pichai also indicated that Google is likely to integrate chatbot technology. “Very soon, people will be able to interact directly with our newest, most powerful language models as a companion to search in experimental and innovative ways,” he added.</p>

<p>A set of LaMDA demo was released by Google last year as part of an “AI Test Kitchen”.</p>

<p>Alphabet’s UK-based AI unit DeepMinds' achievements were also flagged by Pichai as he stated that its database of “all 200m proteins known to science has been used by 1 million biologists around the world”.</p>

<p>The models are still 15% and 17% cheaper, respectively, compared to their earlier prices before they were slashed by Tesla last month to stoke demand and before the company had accounted for the $7,500 tax credit that buyers now can receive.</p>

<p>The Treasury Department, in a reversal, on Friday ruled that crossover cars like the Model Y will become eligible for electric vehicle tax credits as long as their prices are below $80,000.</p>

Even if they catch up on AI, they can't fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business. The way I imagine this happening is that the URL/Search bar of the browser gets replaced with AI that autocompletes my thought/question as I type it while also providing the best answer (which may be a link to a website or product),” wrote Paul Buccheit, in a series of tweets.</p>
