He has played 228 &nbsp;games and has smashed 9577 runs at an average of 53.5. His highest individual score is 176 runs.

As an accomplished gloveman, he was often called to deputize for Boucher, and with time he was even being touted as his eventual successor.

De Villiers' presence in the batting line up was important in South Africa's return to the pinnacle of cricket, registering historic wins in Australia and going on a 3-year unbeaten run since 2007.&nbsp;

He helped South Africa to a semi-final berth in the 2007 ICC Cricket World World Cup, restoring respectability after a poor showing in the tournament's previous edition.&nbsp;

De Villiers was a hot-buy in the Indian T20 League and he started off representing Delhi until he moved to Bangalore for the later seasons.&nbsp;

AB was also one of the players to have been retained by Bangalore in 2014.&nbsp;

In 141 games in the Indian Premier League, since its inception in 2008, De Villiers has made 3953 runs in 141 matches. He has smashed three centuries and 28 half-centuries.&nbsp;

In 2018, he played 12 games for the Virat kohli-led side and scored 480 runs which include six half-centuries. &nbsp;

IPL 2018: AB de Villiers' acrobatic catch inspires some hilarious memes

Some assumptions in the Surrey dressing room are sure to come crashing down when "proper big dog" Virat Kohli joins the side, said England all-rounder Moeen Ali as he reflected on the Indian captain's much-talked-about county stint next month.

But if anyone in that dressing room does think they are a big dog, they will need to sit down for a little while because there is a proper big dog coming," Moeen was quoted as saying by 'The Guardian'.

Moeen and Woakes also rejected the perception that the Indian captain is intimidating and aggressive.

"You see him on the field and people might think he's arrogant but it is the complete opposite. He's so humble it is almost weird how nice he is. He's the biggest name in India but will ring me to check I'm OK or ask if I fancy lunch.

"Sometimes a player will invite the squad to their house for a meal and it would be easy for him to say no. But he would always go. I can say with certainty that anyone who has a bad word doesn't know the guy," he said.&nbsp

Endorsing Moeen's view, Woakes added: "You have your perceptions of someone like Virat, who is quite passionate, emotional, in your face and plays it hard. But off the field he's very calm and you can chat about anything.

"In my first year of IPL I found as an overseas player you get a lot of attention walking through airports in India. But having him in the team ? the No 1, the king ? we're almost irrelevant.&nbsp

"It makes you realise what his life is like. So county cricket will be much more chilled and he'll enjoy that. Playing at smaller grounds, that will be an experience too. Having spoken to him about it, he loves touring other countries ? it's a release."

"Around 30 minutes before the bus leaves for a match, he does what he calls a ?priming session' in the gym. It's like a short burst of Olympic weightlifting.

'Proper big dog' coming to County, Moeen Ali on Virat Kohli

India's refusal to play a day-night Test in Adelaide is "selfish" and hinders efforts to reinvigorate test cricket, Australia's former test batsman Mark Waugh said on Wednesday.

India have declined to play their maiden day-night test against Australia, leaving the Dec. 6-10 series-opener in Adelaide a day match, and remain the lone frontline team not to have featured in one.

"It's a little bit selfish from India's point of view because we need to revitalise Test cricket," Waugh said on Australia's Big Sports Breakfast radio show.

"Day-night test cricket in some countries is going to be one of those ingredients that could transform test cricket back to where it should be."

India's reluctance is attributed to their pink-ball inexperience but Waugh, who will step down from his role as a national twenty20 selector in August, is baffled by their refusal given the depth in the Virat Kohli-led squad.

"Their team is pretty well suited to day-night cricket, they've got a string of fast bowlers, so they don't just rely on the spinners, and their batsman are technically very good as well," Waugh explained.

"So for the greater good of the game, I would have loved to have seen that as a day-night Test."

India have declined to play their maiden day-night test against Australia, leaving the series-opener in Adelaide a day match, Cricket Australia confirmed on Tuesday.

The Australian board had hoped India would agree to a floodlit match for the Dec. 6-10 test at Adelaide Oval, where the home side have beaten England, South Africa and New Zealand in pink-ball matches over the past three home summers.

"We can confirm that we have received advice from the Board of Control for Cricket in India that it is not prepared to participate in a proposed Day-Night test in Adelaide this summer," Cricket Australia said in a statement.

"As a result, we can now confirm the test match will be a day format."

Most established test-playing nations have competed in the new format, but India remains a hold-out.

A series-opener under lights against experienced pink ball cricketers Australia would have been a tough introduction to the tour for Virat Kohli's side, however.

South Africa were also initially reluctant to play their 2016 test under lights at Adelaide, fearing the hosts would have an unfair advantage. They duly lost by seven wickets.

After Adelaide, Australia host India in traditional day tests in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.

According to an announcement made by the county: "India captain Virat Kohli will play for Surrey during the entire month of June."

Despite the county matches schedule being announced much in advance before the team selection, it was surprising to find Kohli's name for the two-match series against Ireland.

When the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad was contacted by PTI for a clarification whether it was a clerical error, he said: "Kindly talk to the BCCI secretary on this issue."

When BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary was asked, he replied.

"Be rest assured, everything is fine," was all he said.

However, there has been no clarity as to what will be Kohli's choice as he gets to play only three four-day matches during his stint.

"If the selectors have picked him for the Ireland T20s despite the county dates being available, it means that he will not play the game against Yorkshire. This cannot be a unilateral decision as the county contracts has been inked after much deliberation. Playing against Ireland means that he will get only two county games.

"It will be very interesting to know why has there been a change in Virat's schedule if England Tests are paramount," wondered a senior BCCI official when apprised of the situation.

Whether Surrey would agree to the new arrangement is another question because the contract was signed after a lot of deliberations regarding Kohli's image rights.&nbsp;

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced Ajinkya Rahane as the new skipper for the historic one-off Test against debutants Afghanistan, beginning on June 14 in Bengaluru.

However, he has been left out of the 16-man ODI squad for the three-match series in England in July.&nbsp;

KL Rahul, who is in the middle of a splendid IPL season, makes his way back while 27-year-old Punjab speedster Siddarth Kaul has been included in both, the ODI and T20I squads.

The BCCI selectors met in Bengaluru to pick six squads on Tuesday, including two T20I squads to face Ireland and England and ODI outfit to face England.

Skipper Virat Kohli was at local boy Mohammed Siraj's house to enjoy some Hyderabad delicious, a day before Bangalore face the Hyderabad in a must-win clash to keep their playoff hopes alive in the 2018 Indian Premier League.&nbsp

Kohli was accompanied with other Bangalore players including Yuzvendra Chahal, Parthiv Patel, Mandeep Singh at Tolichowki to enjoy some appetizing Hyderabadi biryani for dinner.

Rumours had it that the first episode of the sixth season would feature newly-married couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli.&nbsp; 
 
Latest news suggests that despite KJo's eagerness to feature Virushka in the first episode, the couple will not shooting for the show anytime soon due to their prior work commitments. News has it that Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji will share the couch in the first episode.&nbsp; 
 
Incidentally, the show- that will go on air in October will coincide with the 20 years completion of Johar's debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which featured these three actors.&nbsp;The trio had earlier appeared in Season 2 of Koffee With Karan back in 2007. 
 
"One may argue that the combination lacks novelty, but it scores on nostalgic value. The line-up is yet to be drawn. It's still in the brainstorming stage. A lot of names are being tossed around and it's too early to say," a source close to the show was quoted as saying to a daily.

Interestingly, the previous season did not feature Rani Mukerji or Kajol. While Rani was on a maternity leave when the show was on air, Kajol and Karan had a fall out. But the two seemed to have buried the hatched and made peace.

Ravindra Jadeja, who hasn't had a good run in the current edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), &nbspclean-bowled Bangalore captain Virat Kohli on the very first ball he bowled.

But the all-rounder decided not to celebrate the dismissal. &nbsp

After the wicket, Kohli gave him a nasty stare and Jadeja, who is known for wild celebrations was quite and didn't react at all.

However, Twitter was quick to notice this and trolled Jadeja brutally for not celebrating, with Indian Premier League and ICC too joining in the fun.
