Benedict Cumberbatch starrer 'The Power Of The Dog' recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and the audience hooted and cheered with a four-minute standing ovation.

Now Benedict opened up about his role during the Telluride Film Festival and discussed the straight actors playing gay roles in the movie.
The 45-year-old actor played the character of rancher Phil Burbank, who strikes up a relationship with Peter (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

“I feel very sensitive about representation, diversity, and inclusion,” Cumberbatch said at the Telluride Film Festival, as per reports. “One of the appeals of the job was the idea that in this world, with this specific character, there was a lot that was private, hidden from view.”

“It wasn’t done without thought,” he said. “I also feel slightly like, is this a thing where our dance card has to be public? Do we have to explain all our private moments in our sexual history? I don’t think so.” He added.

Further talking, Benedict added, “Jane (director) chose us as actors to play those roles. That’s her question to answer.”

This is not the first time when Marvel star is playing a queer character, before this, the actor has played a gay man -- portraying Alan Turing in 'The Imitation Game.

The 25-year-old McPhee is also a straight man, said that there's a lot he relates with the role of Peter, and added, “I would say that there’s a lot in Peter that I relate to,” Smit-McPhee said. “Sure, I’m a straight man, but I’m extremely in touch with my feminine side. I was raised by my mother and my sister. Of course, my dad has a huge masculine influence on my life but he could never really take me away from the feminine side that I just intrinsically have in myself. It was just a matter of bringing it out… and letting it be in the world. It was a really experimental but beautiful thing to do.”

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming and one of the most awaited movies 'Thalaivii' is facing major backlash over the short time gap between its theatrical and digital release.

Ranaut earlier responded to the matter and requested the multiplex owners for ‘Thalaivii’s screening. Now, in the latest update the multiplexes have decided to screen her forthcoming film in Tamil and Telugu versions but not in Hindi.

Theatres unhappy with 'Thalaivii' makers, demand four-week gap between its premiere on theatres and OTT

After the statement was released, the Gangster actress penned a gratitude note reading, ''PVR’s decision to screen the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film is a ray of hope for Team Thalaivii as well as all those cinegoers who are waiting to rush back to their favourite multiplex chain for a cinematic experience.''

Kangana Ranaut pays homage at the J Jayalalithaa memorial in Marina beach

''I am personally moved by the kind words used for me and Team 'Thalaivii', and I hope with talks, and a passion for the theatrical experience, we can come together to find a solution so that the Hindi version can also find love and appreciation on the big screen''.

Responding to the situation, PVR Cinemas released a statement requesting to keep a uniform window of 4 weeks across all language versions.

'' 'Thalaivii' is one of the most keenly awaited films. Also, Ms Kangana Ranaut’s acting prowess and exceptional box office pull are well-established facts. We are thankful to the Thalaivii team for offering a 4-week theatrical window for its Tamil and Telugu language versions. We are delighted to be able to play 'Thalaivii' in Tamil and Telugu language at our cinemas, however, we are disappointed that for the Hindi language version, the 'Thalaivii' team has decided to offer only a 2-week window. We would like to appeal to Ms Kangana Ranaut, Mr Vishnu Induri & Mr Shailesh Singh to keep a uniform window of 4 weeks across all language versions and therefore allow all cinemas across the country to showcase 'Thalaivii' to audiences, on the big screen.'' The statement reads.

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming and one of the most awaited movies 'Thalaivii' is facing major backlash over the short time gap between its theatrical and digital release.

Theatres unhappy with 'Thalaivii' makers, demand four-week gap between its premiere on theatres and OTT After the statement was released, the Gangster actress penned a gratitude note reading, ''PVR’s decision to screen the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film is a ray of hope for Team Thalaivii as well as all those cinegoers who are waiting to rush back to their favourite multiplex chain for a cinematic experience.'' Kangana Ranaut pays homage at the J Jayalalithaa memorial in Marina beach ''I am personally moved by the kind words used for me and Team 'Thalaivii', and I hope with talks, and a passion for the theatrical experience, we can come together to find a solution so that the Hindi version can also find love and appreciation on the big screen''. Queen Beyonce turned 40! Marking the special day, the history-making Grammy winner took her website and shared several collages featuring her throwback photos. Covering every phase of her life, the photo album showed her in various outfits, different events that we have never seen before. Commemorating the four decades of her life, the whole website was changed into the big collage -- starting with her baby pictures to her latest Ivy Park collection even her record-breaking Grammy wins included. Beyonce began sharing images from her childhood, where she can be seen spending time with her parents and other family members. Another collage shows her pictures from her teenage years showed her hanging out with other co-workers and her former group, 'Destiny's Child', while another portion of the snaps also shows her with her future husband, Jay-Z. The post was titled ‘B AT 40 THANK YOU’, and in one artwork, the ‘Love On Top’ hitmaker wrote: “Thank u to the photographers, editors, tv hosts, talk show hosts, awards programs and my family for your visual contribution.'' Meanwhile, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo, Ellen DeGerenours and others wished the star on her special day.
Hollywood star Kristen Stewart may be no stranger to the paparazzi, but after playing Princess Diana on the silver screen she feels that no one can understand what it felt like to be her.

The new movie 'Spencer' premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Friday, with Stewart the latest actor to play Diana, whose marriage to Britain's Prince Charles ended in scandal and divorce. The princess later died in a Paris car crash in 1997, after fleeing photographers.

The film focuses on her decision to flee the pressures of the royal family and take control of her own life at a key juncture in the early 1990s. "She was the most famous woman in the world, she was the most photographed woman in the whole world," Stewart told journalists ahead of the premiere.

"I have tasted a high level of that, but really kind of nowhere near that monumental, symbolic representation of an entire group of people, an entire country -- and the world," she said.

"I can relate but I don't think anyone can understand what that felt like," said Stewart, of the royal family's claustrophobic watch over Diana, who was expected to bend to protocol and was powerless to make her own decisions.
