"In my playing XI, Rishabh Pant should play at No.5, Hardik Pandya at No.6, and Axar Patel at No.7. But what we have seen in the practice matches is that Dinesh Karthik will play. But a player is not picked to play just 10 balls. You should pick a player so that he can bat at No.5 or 6. But Dinesh Karthik has not shown that intention," Gambhir told Zee News.&nbsp;

"Yes, it is a challenge to not win ICC trophy for nine years, if I am not wrong. The last one we won was in 2013. It has been a challenge with the team like us, there is lot of expectations, we certainly little disappointed with that," said Rohit speaking about India's ICC trophy drought.

While Zimbabwe defeated Scotland, Ireland stunned two-time champions West Indies to make it to the Super 12 from Group B.

The former India cricketer, who was part of India's 2007 T20 World Cup-winning team,&nbsp;said individual records are of no value in big tournaments like the World Cup and Kohli should look at playing impactful knocks rather than focusing on notching up&nbsp;fifties and centuries.

“Go with the mindset of scoring runs, what else can there be? The role of a batter is to make runs, the role of the bowler is take wickets. Make runs that help your team. Don't look at scoring 50s and 100s, score 30-40 runs at an impact which can help your team reach 170-180. If you are chasing, bat in a manner where you can relieve the lower middle-order of pressure.," Gambhir said on Star Sports.

"In these tournaments, individual records should be left at home. If you are going to Australia, pack these records in India. Individual records are of no value in these tournaments.

"Winning the World Cup is important. If you make 200 runs and your team wins the world cup that is your legacy. If you make 500 runs and the team does not qualify, those runs only go in your individual record. If the whole team faces criticism, you are part of it as well," added the former India opener.

Fiery bowling spells from pace trio of Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and an all-round performance by Sikandar Raza powered Zimbabwe to a 31-run win over Ireland in their Group B, round one match of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Hobart on Monday. Zimbabwe's put up a clinical performance to tame the Irish, a side with a dangerous batting lineup.&nbsp;

First, it was Raza's 82 off 48 that powered Zimbabwe to 174/7, then Muzarbani (3/23) was the lead act in his side's success with the ball, restricting Ireland to 143/9 in 20 overs. Chasing 175, Ireland was off to a horrendous start.

Medium-pace duo of Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani unleashed terror on Ireland, sending back Paul Stirling (0), Lorcan Tucker (11), Harry Tector (1) and captain Andrew Balbirnie (3) within a space of just 22 runs in 3.5 overs. Senior India pacer Mohammed Shami made a brilliant comeback as he bowled a stunning final over to help India beat Australia by six runs in the warm-up match between the two sides at The Gabba on Monday (October 17). Shami went on to pick three wickets in the final over while defending 11 runs to secure a thrilling victory for the Men in Blue.

After Namibia shocked Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka on a cracking opening day at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, Scotland pulled off another major upset as they stunned Nicholas Pooran-led West Indies in their opening game in the Group B of the qualifiers.

Bowlers ran riot to help Scotland thrash the two-time champions by 42 runs at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday (October 17). After captain&nbsp;George Munsey's brilliant knock of unbeaten 66 helped them post a fighting total of 160 runs on the board, their bowlers followed it up with a clinical performance to shock West Indies.

Scotland lost the toss and were asked to bat first in Hobart as the West Indies bowlers aimed to bundle out the minnow cheaply. However, captain Pooran's decision backfired for the Caribbeans&nbsp;as Scotland got off to a flyer with openers Munsey and Michael Jones adding 55 runs for the first wicket.&nbsp;

Despite his team losing wickets regularly on the other end, Munsey held firm on one end and propelled Scotland to a good total with 66 off 53 balls. The Scotland skipper's knock was laced with nine fours and turned out to be a crucial one for his team.

With 11 runs needed off the final over, Shami went on to pick up three wickets in the 20th over to prove his death-bowling credentials and secure a thrilling victory for the Men in Blue.

Chasing a target of 187 runs, Australia got off to a terrific start as Mitchell Marsh went all guna blazing after opening the batting with captain Aaron Finch. Marsh slammed a quickfire 18-ball 35 to post a 41-run stand with Finch before the Aussie captain took control of the run chase.

Finch notched up a magnificent knock of 76 runs off 54 balls as he single-handedly steered the Australian innings. The experienced right-hander held the fort on one end as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals on the other end. However, his 76-run-knock went in vain as Australia fell short in the end after losing four wickets on four successive deliveries in the final over.

The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel bowled well to save 11 runs to defend in the final over before Shami was called up by Rohit to bowl his first over in a competitive game in Australia ahead of the World Cup. He gave away four runs off the first two balls before sending&nbsp;back Pat Cummins on 7 as Virat Kohi pulled off a stunning catch at long-on. Ashton Agar was run out on the next ball before Shami nailed two near-perfect yorkers to clean up Josh Inglis and Kane Richardson on successive deliveries.

Earlier, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav impressed with the bat as India posted a strong total of 186 runs on the board in 20 overs, batting first in the warm-up match. Rahul went after the Aussie bowlers from the word go as he scored 57 off 33 balls studded with six fours and three sixes.
