Everyone wants to bat long and score those 150s and 170s. I still want to do that, but it is always nice to do something that you have not done. It only adds up to your list of batting abilities. Unless you do it, you won't know it.

CWC '23: Rohit can afford to play the accumulator role and score big hundreds, feels former India batter

India will play Australia in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on September 27 in Rajkot. It will also be the last chance for Men in Blue to give game time to players ahead of their ODI World Cup opening game, also against Australia, on October 8. Notably, India have named a full-fledged squad including skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the final ODI against Australia.

Sanjay Bangar, former India batting coach, however, has said that wicket-keeping is going to be the main point of discussion as both KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan are in India's 15-member World Cup squad.

“I think who is the main wicketkeeper that will be a big point. If it is KL Rahul then he will bat at No. 5 and Shreyas will take the No. 4 spot. Then, unfortunately, Ishan Kishan and Surya will miss out in the last game,” said Bangar while talking to Star Sports ahead of the third ODI.

Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has appointed Zimbabwe cricket legend Andy Flower as the new head coach after the franchise decided against renewing the contracts of Mike Hesson (director of cricket operations) and Sanjay Bangar (head coach) following a sixth-place finish in IPL 2023.

Flower was the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants franchise for two seasons and was replaced by former Australia coach Justin Langer in the second week of July. Per previous reports, the contracts of both Hesson and Bangar were up for renewal following IPL 2023, but the franchise decided to overhaul the coaching staff instead.

Flower, a renowned cricketer and a coach, had previously held top posts in world cricket, including as England’s Team Director and head coach for an extended period. Upon joining hands with the RCB, Flower said he can't wait to experience the atmosphere at the Chinnaswamy next season.

Mike Hesson fared well in his role during his stay at the RCB. While Hesson joined RCB in 2019, Bangar got roped in 2022 after Aussie Simon Katich parted ways with the franchise.&nbsp;

Under Hesson, RCB reached the knockouts in IPL 2020 and 2021, getting eliminated by SunRisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively, in the Eliminator on both occasions. Next season they overcame the Eliminator curse but fell shy of reaching another IPL Final after losing to Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

Their performance in the recently-concluded season wasn’t at par, as despite close wins and some dominant outings, they remained at number six.

IPL: RCB appoints Andy Flower as new head coach, ends partnership with Mike Hesson, Sanjay Bangar

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB ) is yet to renew the contracts of its Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and coach Sanjay Bangar, per latest reports. The Bangalore-based franchise, which hasn't won the trophy even once, said in a statement that both are still under contract while the franchise is yet to come out on a final decision, the announcement of which will be made public soon.&nbsp;

"Their contract with RCB is still intact," RCB said in a statement. "The team is still under the process of review. We will come back if any announcement on the changes in the team."&nbsp;

On a day when Yuzvendra Chahal, former RCB player and their&nbsp;highest wicket-taker to date,&nbsp;talked about&nbsp;his disappointing departure from the franchise after spending eight years with them, the news of non-renewal of the&nbsp;contracts of these&nbsp;experienced coaches will further hurt fans' sentiments.

Per a report in the Indian Express, there is no formal word on the franchise's stance of continuing working with the bowling coach Adam Griffith. Also, it remains unclear if RCB decides against renewing their contracts, whether will they go for a foreign or an Indian coach.&nbsp;

"Yeah, he had a bit of a niggle in his knee. But I don't think there is anything serious. Having scored two back-to-back hundreds within a gap of 4 days. He is somebody who not only wants to contribute with the bat but even when he is fielding. He did a lot of running around. 40 overs a couple of days ago and today, for 35 overs he was on the field. He was giving his best. So it is going to bother at some point but I don't think it's anything serious," Bangar said in the post-match press conference.

After Kohli's end of campaign in IPL 2023 -- where he returned with&nbsp;639 runs at 139.82 including two centuries and six fifties -- he will next be seen in action in India's upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final where they will face Australia early next month, at The Oval, London. For RCB, they finished sixth with seven wins and equal number of defeats in IPL 2023.

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes there remain question marks over the future of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara in Test cricket after the senior batters were dropped from India's Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Pujara and Rahane were among four senior players who were dropped from the Test squad for the two-match series.

Rahane and Pujara were dropped after enduring a rough patch in Test cricket. The duo was struggling to score runs consistently and had numerous average outings in India's last few series which resulted in both the senior batters getting dropped from the Test side.

Along with them wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha and senior fast bowler Ishant Sharma were also left out of the Test squad for the Sri Lanka series. While Bangar raised doubts over their future in Test cricket, the former India batting coach backed them to make a comeback in the longest format.

"Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma - they have served Indian cricket brilliantly for many years. There are question marks raised on their future when such experienced players are dropped or when they are not selected," Bangar said on Star Sports.

Taking into account the international schedule and calendar, if there are openings at certain points in time, I am pretty sure they will try and force their way back into the Indian team," said Bangar.

"He fits in that category because he can contribute with the bat and with the ball, he can contribute with a couple of wickets, as he displayed in the England series as well,” added Bangar.

Bangar further asserted that Shardul will fit in Kohli’s template of fielding four spinners and a spinner.&nbsp;"I would think the reasoning behind and the way the captain wants to have a say because ultimately it’s the captain’s team. "In my opinion, Mayank Agarwal is the most attacking batter against spin I have seen since Virender Sehwag for India in Test cricket. Everyone says that he steps out and plays the aerial shots well and targets the straighter boundaries," Bangar said on Star Sports.

"But there was one special thing seen in this knock and it was also because of the extra bounce, that he played so many shots off the back foot. He played very good pull shots when the ball was slightly back of length," he added.
