'KGF Chapter 2' Box Office: Yash's film is unstoppable, to cross RRR soon?

<p>Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s ‘RRR’ continues doing good business as Rajamouli’s film crossed Rs 1000 crore box collections worldwide.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Even after almost a month of its theatrical release globally, the film continues to draw audiences. On day 20, RRR Hindi earned Rs 3 crore taking the total collection to Rs 238 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#RRR [Week 3] Fri 5 cr, Sat 7.50 cr, Sun 10.50 cr, Mon 3.50 cr, Tue 3 cr. Total: 238.09 cr. #India biz... #Hindi verdict: SUPER-HIT (sic)."</p>

<p>Industry insiders, however, feel that the box office collections might drop down once films like Yash’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ and Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Beast’ releases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>‘RRR’ is a war drama directed by SS Rajamouli. Set in the pre-Independence era, the film's story is based on two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The story is written by Vijayendra Prasad and produced by DVV Danayya.&nbsp;</p>

<p>April 8&nbsp;marks 128th death anniversary of India's celebrated novelist "Maharishi" Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. On this special day, acclaimed author turned filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee and former Head of Zee Studios Sujoyy Kuttiy, roped in legendary writer K V Vijayendra Prasad for their project&nbsp;1770 - Ek Sangram, inspired by Chatterjee's best selling nationalist Bengali novel Anandamath.</p>

<p>The film also marks 150th year of 'Vande Matram' that triggered the Swaraj movement in India against the British Empire. Chatterjee had composed the song for his novel Anandamath which was published in Bangadarshan Magazine in 1872. The film&nbsp;will be produced by Shhailendra Kkumar from SS1 Entertainment, Suraj Sharma from P K Entertainments and will be made in languages&nbsp;Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. &nbsp;</p>

<p>"When Sujoyy approached me for Anandamath, I was a bit taken aback. I had read the novel many years ago, and frankly speaking I didn't feel that today's generation would be able to connect with the subject. But when I met Ram Kamal and he shared his vision on Anandamath, he had a completely different take on the novel. It was commercial and connected with human emotions. After a couple of sessions, now I am excited to work on the subject with a completely fresh perspective. It will be a huge challenge for me, to recreate the magic of Anandamath," said veteran writer K V Vijayendra Prasad.&nbsp;</p>

A British officer and his wife forcefully take a tribal girl from the Gond community under their custody and it is up to the local tribal hero Bhima (Jr NTR) to rescue the child from the vicious clutches of the whites. He along with a few other members of his community head to Delhi, where the young girl is held captive. Bhima goes undercover in search of her. Meanwhile, Ram, a ferociously brave British cop is given the task to find Bhim and his men and arrest them.&nbsp;<br />

The brief given to Ram is almost dismal and it is literally looking for a needle in a haystack but in Rajamouli's universe not only do the two cross paths but also become friends. One is longing to reunite with his sister, one is longing to complete his job and earn a promotion. The story could be set in any era to be fair, because more than the plot, the film concentrates on proving the machismo of its two lead actors. They are not any ordinary humans- they are in fact superheroes who from time to time defy logic and gravity to fight evil. They are ferocious, they make wild&nbsp;animals a part of their entourage (yes, you read that right) and defend blazing guns with bows and arrows. It is that illogical. At one moment they are in pain and bleeding, but in the next moment signing heroic songs or even better, breaking limbs and smashing heads. &nbsp;For them- everything seems a cakewalk.&nbsp;<br />

The story takes the leads to Delhi, and in Rajamouli's pre-independent Delhi, senior police officers live in palaces with private jails, and their wives call the shots on prisoners of the state. She even offers her own pair of scourge to the commanding officer to lash the said prisoner. There is a suspension of disbelief all throughout the film. Delhi also has lush green forests it seems.&nbsp;<br />

While 'RRR' is laced with illogical scenes, Rajamouli serves a visually stunning film. The action scenes are in plenty and some may appear slightly gory but at the same time, they are stunningly choreographed. You haven't seen anything like this before and no filmmaker can match up to this big canvas. And that's how the film redeems itself. It takes a flight to fantasy and makes everything larger than life and visually stunning.&nbsp;<br />

Because it is a Rajamouli film, actors like Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Makran Deshpande play cameo roles and let the two men take away most of the limelight.&nbsp;<br />

Set in pre-independent India, the film is based on freedom fighters Komaram Bheem(Jr NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan). The two leads are shown performing awe-inspiring action stunts throughout the trailer.</p>
