<p>The official release issued by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that top Congress leaders 'respectfully declined' to attend the ceremony, and heavily criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for making a 'political project' of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.</p>

<p>"...Lord Ram is worshipped by millions in our country. Religion is a personal matter. But the RSS/BJP have long made a political project of the temple in Ayodhya...," says the release.</p>

<p>The Congress has alleged that the inauguration of the 'incomplete temple' has been brought forward by the ruling party 'for electoral gains' and that the consecration ceremony is 'an RSS/BJP event'.</p>

<p>Devi, who is a Dhanbad resident, has already left for the temple town of Ayodhya to witness her dream come true - the inauguration of Ram temple. She has been excited since the date of the consecration of the temple was announced, told her youngest son Hare Ram Agarwal to PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"She left for Ayodhya on Monday night aboard Ganga-Sutlej Express from Dhanbad Railway Station. She will break her silence on January 22," Hare Ram said further.</p>

<p>In Ayodhya, she is popularly known as “Mauni Mata” or silenced mother. She used to communicate with people through either sign language or writing down on paper.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2001, Devi did “tapasya” or penance for seven months at Madhya Pradesh’s Chitrakoot, which is a pivotal site of Lord Ram’s 14-year-long exile.&nbsp;</p>

Ahead of the grand event, Champat Rai, the general secretary of the temple trust, unveiled details about the selected idol of Ram Lalla that will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ayodhya temple. According to Rai, the Ram Lalla idol will be in standing posture and carved in dark stone.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The idol made of Lord Shri Ramlala is in the form of a five-year-old child. The statue is 51 inches tall, made of black stone, and is very attractively made. Its height from toe to eyebrows will be 51 inches," he reportedly said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With this, it is believed that the Ram Lalla idol picked for the Ayodhya temple will be either the one sculpted by Arun Yogiraj or the one by Ganesh Bhatt.</p>

<p>These two idols have been carved in dark bluish-grey stone, also known as “Shyam Shila”. This stone is from the Indian state of Karnataka. Meanwhile, the third one was sculpted by Satyanarayan Pandey and his family and is in white makrana marble from the Indian state of Rajasthan. Two not-selected&nbsp;idols will be given reverence as well and the temple trust head Rai said they will be used by it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ram Lalla idol for the temple will be depicted traditionally. Lord Ram, in a standing posture, will have a lotus as the base. Lotus in Hindu culture is a symbol of divinity. Many deities, including Brahma, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Saraswati, and others, are depicted sitting or standing on a lotus.</p>

<p>The temple is expected to witness record footfall once it is opened to the public after the consecration ceremony planned for January 22.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The pilot project of AI surveillance is likely to be launched for Ayodhya. After some time, if found feasible, it could be made an integral part of the security and surveillance drill,” a senior police official was quoted as saying by <em>Hindustan Times.</em></p>

<p>The AI tool could be used to detect suspicious trends within the temple premises, such as frequent visitors or any other common trend followed by unruly elements.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The threat perception of Ram temple is high. So, we need to keep a tight vigil on all movements in Ayodhya,” the official added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Apart from AI surveillance, 11,000 state police and paramilitary forces are likely to be deployed in the city to ensure nothing untoward happens on the day of the ceremony and afterwards.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although the final security scheme for January 22 is yet to be finalised, the&nbsp;manual as well as video surveillance is already in place. The security official informed that about 38 officers of the local intelligence unit have been deployed in the red zone where Ram Mandir is located.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Currently, &nbsp;nine companies of the UP Special Security Force (UPSSF), six companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),&nbsp;three companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and&nbsp;304 civil police personnel are on the ground in the red zone.&nbsp;</p>

Congress provides update on Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge attending Ram Temple consecration ceremony

<p>Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, reacted to Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s remarks that he has not been invited to the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya saying the invitations have been extended only to the “devotees of Lord Ram”.</p>

<p>"Invitations are only extended to those who are devotees of Lord Ram. It is totally wrong to say that the BJP is fighting in the name of Lord Ram, our PM is respected everywhere. He has done immense work under his tenure. This is not politics. This is his devotion," the chief priest of Ram Temple said.</p>

<p>The consecration ceremony of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir will be held over seven days, starting on January 16 according to temple officials. On the final day, January 22, after the morning puja, the deity of Ram Lalla will be consecrated in 'Mrigashira Nakshatra' in the afternoon.</p>

<p>The chief priest’s reaction came in response to Uddhav Thackeray’s allegations on the BJP-ruled central government that the saffron party is ‘politicising’ the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The Shiv Sena UBT chief said that the inauguration function shouldn't be politicised or centred upon a certain party.</p>

However, he said that he does not need an invitation to visit the temple and can go to Ayodhya anytime he wants.</p>

<p>“Ram Lalla is mine too. I can go anytime I wish. I can go now, I can go tomorrow. When I became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, I went to Ayodhya. I visited Ayodhya before that also. Yes, I have not received any invitation and I don’t need one. I just have one request that this event should not be made a political one,” Thackeray added.</p>

<p>In the 2020–21 academic year, Pandey enrolled in SVVU's BA (Shastri) programme after completing his Class X education at Ghaziabad's Dudheshwar Ved Vidyapeeth. He attended Venkateswara Vedic University&nbsp;in Tirupati for his MA (Acharya) degree&nbsp;and&nbsp;is preparing for his PhD.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The journey of Pandey from Ghaziabad to Tirupati and now Ayodhya is evidence of his commitment and rigorous training. His choice also highlights the crucial role that universities such as SVVU play in generating competent people who can serve in spiritual capacities.</p>

<p>“It’s a matter of great pride for us that our student has been chosen as a priest at the Ayodhya Ram temple. We trained him here for 10 long years,” said Mahant Narayan Giri, the head priest of the Dudheshwar Nath temple and chief patron of the Dudheshwar Ved Vidyalaya.</p>

<p>He added, “It isn’t an easy test to pass. But his command over Sanskrit and pronunciation of words to worship the lord would have held him in good stead. He was trained in all these.” &nbsp;<br />

<h2>Ram Mandir construction</h2>

<p>The construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is ongoing and the sanctum sanctorum is expected to be completed by December-end. Asked about this, Rai said, "This challenge has been accepted by the Indian engineers. The river has a bank and the river may change course. Earthquakes may occur in the future. Below is the crumbly sand. Taking all these things seriously, experts are preparing for strong construction."</p>

<p>Rai said, "Sand has been found up to 60 metres below the proposed site for construction of the temple. We have also asked for photos from ISRO. It has been revealed that Saryu river has changed direction five times. The river may change direction in the next 500 years also. The temple construction committee is taking all these things into account."</p>
