Parineeti Chopra to star in Sooraj Barjatya's 'Uunchai'

Ace badminton player Saina Nehwal's biopic 'Saina' featuring Parineeti Chopra received mix response from masses as well as critics when it released in theatres earlier this year in theatres. Now, the film is gearing up for a television premiere, and Parineeti couldn't be happier.

Parineeti said watching the movie on TV would be a fulfilling experience. Speaking to a media outlet, Parineeti recalled the days she had trained for the film.

While sharing her experience, Parineeti said, "`Saina` has inspired millions and it was extremely fulfilling to play her on screen. It took blood and sweat to transform myself. I vividly remember spending my days as an athlete and even crying out of pain on the court. But it was all worth it. Saina Nehwal was my initial guiding force. Priyanka Chopra even gave me pointers on how to mould myself for the role, since she played a sports character in the past."

Meanwhile Saina Nehwal said it was surreal to see her own life on screen. She was delighted looking at Amole Gupte`s creative vision, Parineeti and child actor Naishaa`s portrayal of her character.

"This experience of re-watching my journey has made me realise that sure, hard work and talent is what drives you to live your dreams, but one of the most important aspects is the support system. I am indebted to my parents, my husband and coaches as without them, my life wouldn`t be the same. They constantly motivated me and pushed me to chase my dreams, and that`s what kept me going on the most difficult days. I can only hope that my story will positively motivate young dreamers to go all out in the pursuit of their dreams," said Saina.

Directed by Amole Gupte, the movie featured the brilliant Parineeti Chopra donning the role of Saina along with the remarkable Manav Kaul, Meghana Malik and Eshan Naqvi in pivotal roles. The film will premiere on July 25 on Zee Cinema.

Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee's films always very accurately adapt to the local mannerism of the place where the story is set. If he showed Delhi's brashness in 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', and pre-independent Kolkata's mystic charm in "Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, in his latest 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar' he highlights the gullibility and warm heart of hilly towns like Pithoragarh.

The film's plot begins in Gurgaon, but eventually shifts to Pithoragarh where young men are enamoured by cops who claim to have met Salman Khan, and the older ones think its their business to school women(any woman) about their role in society.

The film begins with an encounter killing at a checkpoint in the outskirts of Delhi. Cops soon realise they got the wrong car, while their actual targets Sandeep (Parineeti Chopra) and Pinky ( Arjun Kapoor) are absconding. Pinky, suspended for a year from his job in the Haryana Police, takes up the task to kidnap Sandeep, a top executive of a private bank. Pinky's mentor, Tyagi (Jaideep Ahlawat) promises him back his job provided he does this one last job- to kidnap and kill Sandeep, who now poses as a threat to her bank as she knows the inside details of a major financial fraud.

The two start off on a rough patch but eventually form an uncanny bond and decide to cross the border and find refuge in Nepal. They land in the hilly town of Pithoragarh, take refuge in a gullible, warm elderly couple's (Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta in top form) home and plan their move to Nepal while, the bank, the police try tracing their whereabouts.

While the film starts of as an intriguing story, the narrative isn't able to keep the pace intact making it vague, incoherent in portions with barely any suspense around. The film breaks for an interval at an obscure moment, making the viewer wonder if there is anything at all to look forward to in the second half. Sketchy in parts, the film shines most in the scenes that involve Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta who play the elderly couple who give Sandeep and Pinky refuge in their home. Yadav plays an orthodox man seeped in patriarchy who doesn't bat an eyelid before questioning Sandeep and her ways. Gupta plays the gullible, softy who has to manage an authoritarian husband in front of strangers.

One of the best scenes in the film has Yadav instructing Chopra to offer pickle around the breakfast table and admonishing her knowledge of the share market, only to be shut down by her knowledge on share trading.

Banerjee also, much like his other films, manages to get relatively unknown faces to play locals in the film, who add authenticity to the plot.

The story may be well-intended but it falters at the execution level. At two hours run time, the film appears to stretch, there are plot points that do not make sense and scenes which are unnecessarily long and tend to zoom more on the actor's faces.

Parineeti Chopra, who has off late chosen some bad scripts, get its right in this film. She delivers a restraint performance- a far cry from her melodramatic act in 'The Girl On The Train'. Arjun Kapoor on the other hand has a straight pan expression throughout. I wish he had emoted a bit more in a film that relies more on facial expressions than dialogues.

'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar' was in the making for a long time and in several parts, it seems that the makers rushed a bit to wrap it up and release it. For a maker like Dibakar Banerjee who has delivered memorable films in the past, this is not his best.

Parineeti Chopra starrer 'Saina' to premiere on Amazon Prime Video

Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra is thrilled to be a part of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's next 'Animal'

Chopra said the film has given her the opportunity to work alongside the likes of Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Reportedly billed as a dark thriller, the film marks Vanga's second Hindi directorial after the massive success of 2019's 'Kabir Singh'.

Without giving out much detail about her role and plot of the film Chopra said, "I don't sit and desperately plan that I want to work with this director or that actor. I have never done that in my career. So for me, the opportunity to be a part of 'Animal' means a lot. It is a huge honour to be a part of a film with Anil Kapoor sir and Ranbir. These are actors I've enjoyed watching and respect immensely in a personal capacity. For me, working in 'Animal' will be months of learning school," the 32-year-old actor told PTI.

Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra is thrilled to be a part of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's next 'Animal' Chopra said the film has given her the opportunity to work alongside the likes of Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. Produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Murad Khetani, and Krishan Kumar, 'Animal' also stars Bobby Deol. The makers had announced the film earlier this year with an audio teaser. Parineeti Chopra opens up about being a part of Sandeep Vanga's 'Animal'

At the film's trailer launch, when asked if she felt an added pressure to pick up a role that Kapoor had already started preparing for, Chopra said focused only on playing the part to the best of her ability. "I had only my pressure and that of my director. I wanted to impress him and work hard to learn the sport. I didn't take any external pressure.

"The pressure was me, my coach approving what I'm learning, my director approving what I'm looking like on-screen. There was no other pressure," Chopra told reporters at the event.

I would call her, video call her and she would answer all my questions. That way pressure management was better.

"I already had the pressure to learn badminton, I couldn't have taken anything else. I would've crumbled and wouldn't have been able to concentrate. Doing 'Saina' is a challenge for me," she added.

Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar: Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor introduce each other's characters

Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, Hrithik Roshan & others sizzle in Dabboo Ratnani calendar

India's long history has given us innumerable stories of bravery. From almost every corner of this diverse land, we have heard stories of heroic resistance and sacrifice — stories that have proved to be a common thread across the country, uniting us.

One such story of valour is the historic battle of Saragarhi, fought in 1897 in the North-West Frontier Province (now in Pakistan) and in which 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army chose to stay and fight a 10,000-strong Pashtun army and stall them from capturing key army posts in the area.

Filmmaker Anurag Singh's 'Kesari', starring Akshay Kumar, is based on that historic battle. Kumar plays Havildar Ishar Singh, the leader of the group that decides to fight the Pashtuns despite a limited arsenal and no support from their army.

Saragarhi was an army communication post situated between two important forts — Lockhart and Gulistan. And since it was primarily a communications post, it had a limited number of soldiers stationed there. The Sikh soldiers, however, decide to stand and fight, to the death, instead of escaping.

Now, not much is taught about this battle in the history books. While the tale is well known in Punjab and the 21 soldiers and their act of bravery is referred to to date, only a handful know about it outside of the state. Which is why 'Kesari' proves to be an important film, narranting an important chapter of the country's history.

A war film based on real-life incidents is almost always predictable. You usually know the tale will end with the supreme sacrifice so, ultimately, it is how the story is narrated that matters.

To its credit, Kesari makes for a compelling watch; with a nuanced screenplay, good production design, and solid performances by the actors, the heroic tale absolutely immerses you into that era.

Akshay Kumar, who leads the pack, gives a powerful performance as the fierce, brave and yet kind Ishar Singh who is aware of the impending doom marching upon him and his men and still chooses to fight.

Shot beautifully by Anshul Chobey with perfect production design by Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray, the look and feel of the film are just right, taking you right into the tough terrain of the North-West Frontier Province. The CGI is good, making the ambience and war scenes look realistic. The action stunts are well thought out, giving the actors, including Kumar, ample room to perform.

A war film can get a bit monotonous with constant battle scenes, which is why the screenplay plays an important role. Singh and Girish Kohli weave in an emotional tale with just the right amount of humour and poignancy which shows the human side of the war without indulging in too much jingoism. The film does not blame any community or religion as such, and instead only highlights the futility of war.

'Kesari' triumphs ultimately because of the story itself — one that teaches us about courage and how to react in times of crisis. 'Kesari' then is a story for all of us.

"Didn't find a chiffon saree in my bag but I played some Yash Ji songs in my head. Same no? #YRFGirlForever," the actor captioned the picture.
Parineeti Chopra suffers injury while prepping for Saina Nehwal biopic

Not only she has proved her acting prowess but Parineeti Chopra is one hard-working girl of which her latest Instagram post is proof!

The actor seemed quite literally on the edge of her seat as she jetted off to Hyderabad on Wednesday for a rendezvous with the shuttler Saina Nehwal, whose role she is set to essay in the upcoming biopic. Parineeti shared a still of her captured in the flight, where she is seen engrossed in reading something from a notebook.

Captioning the picture she wrote, "Doing my homework before I reach."

Going by the post, it seems the `Jabariya Jodi` star is leaving no stone unturned to bring out Sania on screen. Most likely, Parineeti is preparing for an interview with the badminton player which she hinted with #100QuestionsReady at the end of her post.

She has recently wrapped up filming for the `The Girl on The Train` and has been sweating it out on the ground for the forthcoming biopic on Nehwal.

Moreover, Parineeti along with "mini didi" Priyanka Chopra is all set to lend their voices to Anna and Elsa in the Hindi version of Disney`s `Frozen 2`.

Opening about working first time together onscreen with sister, Parineeti said, "This relationship of Anna and Else in `Frozen 2` is exactly what Mimi Didi and I share - it`s a unique and strong bond that I have with my sister, Priyanka Chopra."

Directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, the film will hit big screens on November 22.

Parineeti Chopra completes her 'homework' on way to meet Saina Nehwal

With Disney`s `Frozen II`, the Chopra sisters are all set to take their familial love to the screens as Parineeti shared that her bond with "mimi didi" Priyanka Chopra is the same as Anna and Elsa`s!

The `Ishaqzaade` actor has lent her voice to the role of the younger sister Anna while Priyanka will be the voice behind Elsa in the Hindi version of the film.

Comparing the on-screen sisters` connect with their own, Parineeti said, "This relationship of Anna and Else in Frozen 2 is exactly what Mimi Didi and I share - it`s a unique and strong bond that I have with my sister, Priyanka Chopra."

The reason she said yes for being Anna`s voice is that Parineeti can "identify" herself with the character."Therefore I took up the opportunity immediately and I loved the process of lending my voice to this character. This is also for the first time the Chopra sisters will be working on a project together," she added.

Comparing the on-screen sisters` connect with their own, Parineeti said, "This relationship of Anna and Else in Frozen 2 is exactly what Mimi Didi and I share - it`s a unique and strong bond that I have with my sister, Priyanka Chopra." The reason she said yes for being Anna`s voice is that Parineeti can "identify" herself with the character."Therefore I took up the opportunity immediately and I loved the process of lending my voice to this character. This is also for the first time the Chopra sisters will be working on a project together," she added. Anna, Elsa's bond is exactly what Mimi didi and I share: Parineeti Chopra on working with cousin Priyanka

Chopra sisters Priyanka and Parineeti are all set to collaborate for a film together. The two actresses will be doing the voiceover for the Hindi version of 'Frozen 2'. This would be the first time that two cousins would be working on a film together.

The two have been roped in to voice Disney`s popular characters Elsa and Anna for the Hindi version of forthcoming Disney venture.

Priyanka announced the exciting news on her Twitter handle with a motion poster of the film.In the gripping poster, the two-character Elsa and Anna are standing together in a jungle. Elder sister Elsa is dressed up in her signature blue shade dress, whereas Anna is sporting a purple dress and suddenly with a quick breeze they get replaced with the two versatile actors who will lend voices to them in Hindi.

Sports films have been the lingering trend in Bollywood for the part few years. Since 2012, the industry has shifted its focus to sports dramas be it 'Mary Kom', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' or last year’s much lauded outings - 'Soorma' and 'Gold'. Being box office success stories, makers are always keen to take the audience through the lives of sports stars, the hard work they put in and thrill of the game. On National Sports Day, here’s looking at actors who are dabbling in sports for their upcoming feature films.

Richa Chadha (Panga)
Though familiar with Kabaddi, Richa had to revisit it all over again for her part in the Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary directorial. After training in Mumbai with state-level players and coaches, the actress even travelled to towns like Raipur and Ranchi to meet local players. From gaining insight into knowing the sport, Richa put in extra effort to look her part. The actress also spent time with women Kabaddi players to spend learn about their life whilst living the sport.

Angad Bedi (The Zoya Factor)
As Robin Rawal, the superstar of the team, Angad Bedi had the cumbersome task ahead of him - to look authentic. Though the son of Bishan Singh Bedi and a cricketer himself in his early life, Angad wanted to not allow any gimmicks to seep into his role. The actor had to go back to the basic to learn new tropes for the film’s cricket sequences as he roped in a Ranji coach to help him look and feel the part. The actor went through months of rigorous training to ensure that his portrayal looked authentic.

Ajay Devgan (Maidaan)
Ajay Devgan is not a football player in real life but the actor decided to take up football lessons, even though the film doesn’t require him to actually play the game. As Kapil Dev, the Indian skipper who brought home India’s maiden cricket world cup, Ranveer Singh soaked himself in every shade of the legend. Headlining a team of underdogs, taking them to imminent victory, Ranveer has learnt every facet of the game replicating Kapil’s bowling style to his shots by living with him in Delhi and then meeting him again at the Bootcamp in Mohali.

Parineeti Chopra (Saina Nehwal biopic)
After Shraddha Kapoor bowed out of the film, Parineeti Chopra stapped in to play ace Badminton champion Saina Nehwal. After toiling for months, the actress will finally meet Saina herself for a final round of perfecting the moves before the film goes on floors in October. The actress has been working out even while in London to ensure her agility isn’t compromised.

John Abraham (The Isle of Man)
John Abraham took his love for bikes to the next level when he announced his next silver screen project with director Rensil D’silva. Being passionate about motorbikes, the actor is already practicing the game in Bennetts Trackday Brands Hatch in The Isle of Man, UK.
