Former Pakistan medium-fast bowler Aaqib Javed has alleged that Saleem Parvez was behind several match-fixing incidents during his playing days while further alleging that Parvez used to introduce players to the bookies.&nbsp;

Javed admitted that he was approached by Parvez to fix matches but said he didn’t play any part while choosing to raise his voice against corruption taking place in Pakistan cricket.

Javed’s career ended amid Pakistan’s match-fixing controversy at the age of just 25 with the former bowler claiming he was never allowed to make a comeback in the national side. The reason being not accepting a bribe to fix matches.&nbsp;

Akhtar had earlier called PCB’s legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi “legally defective, merit-less and misconceived” while also calling against ‘harsh’ ruling for batsman Umar Akmal after he failed to report corrupt approaches.&nbsp;

However, Akhtar seems unmoved as he said whatever he said was for the betterment of Pakistan cricket while adding his comments on Rizvi were based on his personal interaction with him.&nbsp;

India has 10 times more internet subscribers (706 million approx.) than Pakistan (76 million). To make money on YouTube, you need to ensure that your videos get lots and lots of views. These Pakistani YouTubers also know these two facts.

Sample this, Shoaib Akhtar’s channel has 2.12 million subscribers, Shahid Afridi’s channel has 650,000, Rashid Latif and cricket expert Dr Nouman Niaz’s caught behind has almost 300,000 subscribers. Channels of Inzamam ul Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq et al also fall in the region of around 100-150,000 subscribers.

Then there are channels and shows by Ramiz Raja, Mohammed Wasim, and Danish Kaneria etc. It seems, almost all ex-Pakistani players and their uncles have a YouTube channel today.

Well, on the face of it, it seems a good way to connect with fans, stay relevant and make a little money. However, their business model runs on Indian viewership.

Just scroll through the comments on these channels and you will find the majority of it coming from Indians, hence by extension, we can safely assume that majority of the subscribers are Indians as well. &nbsp;

First, credit where credit is due. Quality of cricket discussions on the Hindi news channels in India is absolutely the pits. It hides behind graphics and Ekta Kapoor-esque multiple shots of cricket stars.

These do a huge disservice to the Hindi heartland’s cricket fans and their deep and nuanced understanding of the game. Hence, with English discussions, which are marginally better but not easily accessible to the Hindi cricket fan, they turn to the internet.

The ex-Pakistani cricketers who have played cricket at the highest level and are untouched by English (most of them) put across the nitty-gritty of the game in a chatty, colloquial manner without compromising on the technicalities. This indeed appeals to the subscribers from India. Who doesn’t love it when Shoaib says “India ne Pakistan ki Fenti laga di”.

However, it is too naïve to just stop here. The Pakistani YouTubers have perfected the formula of keeping the Indian subscriber engaged. The secret sauce is profuse admiration of Indian cricket team and its administration and disparaging comments on the Pakistani cricketers and its administration in Pakistan. Most of these channels also are used to settle scores with the board or complaint by players about their frustrations with Pakistan cricket set up. Hence, you find an Abdul Razzak calling Bumrah a baby bowler and that he would have dominated him, ‘if’ he was still playing! Another YouTuber Tanveer Ahmed, an also-ran Pakistani medium-pacer from a decade ago, his negative and frustrated observations alone are enough to give depression to a Pakistani cricket fan. The story doesn’t differ much on other channels as well. Akhtar, Latif et al have complained at multiple times on not being offered fat jobs in the Pakistani cricket set up, of course, they don’t care for the money but to contribute to Pakistan cricket (wink, wink). Then there is the ugly, almost racist, fight between Karachi and Punjab cricketers. Bottom-line is that they are disparaging of their own cricket, their own cricketers and cricket administration. While some of it is richly deserved, there is a sense of it being overdone to offer schadenfreude to their Indian subscribers.

When another person's bad luck secretly makes you feel good, that's schadenfreude. I admit some of us do enjoy our schadenfreude at the cost of Pakistani cricket’s downfall.

As a kid of the 90s, we were at too much of a receiving end from the Pakistani cricket team, mostly at Sharjah, though now there is a lot of daylight between the two teams and that is unlikely to be made up by Pakistan in the next decade or so.

Pakistani cricket is caught up in the missing the 'good old days mode' without investing in the future. Its frustrations of losing a lot more and consistently to India does boil over. You had Imran Khan saying recently that he used to feel bad for the Indian team as his team used to beat the Indians quite often.

The facts of today cause misery, which then is translated into anger towards their own team. Not for nothing, Shoaib Akhtar’s video on Pakistani loss to India in the world cup, titled brainless captaincy has almost 10 million views, the helplessness of his explanations of Pakistan’s loss is almost sad to see. Schadenfreude. On the bright side, some of these ex-Pakistani cricketers are making money through their videos, even if that means selling out the very cricket team that made them heroes and that is perhaps why Pakistani cricket is in the slump that it is, self before the team.

The changed tunes of people like Afridi who once famously claimed that “Indians ke dil bahut chotey hote hain”; today can’t thank Indians like Yuvraj and Harbhajan enough for their contribution to his charity. Javed Miandad, father in Law to Dawood Ibrahim’s offspring, talks of peace between India and Pakistan through cricket on his videos. How the mighty have fallen!

The Hindi YouTube audience is truly now a force to be reckoned with and they are already making these ex-Pakistani greats dancing to their tunes. Pander on I say to them.

Ex-Pakistani cricketer’s huge Indian YouTube subscribers’ base. It's schadenfreude!

Pakistan&nbsp;cricketer Umar Akmal is not new to trolls, he is back in the news again for all the wrong reasons.

Umar Akmal had tweeted a picture of him with his teammate Abdul Razzak in which he mistakenly&nbsp;wrote "mother from another brother"&nbsp;before he could delete that tweet his followers took a screenshot and began trolling him as&nbsp;#umarakmalquotes began trending after the faux pas.&nbsp;

To make matters worse, after the incident, Umar Akmal was&nbsp;suspended from PSL by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under anti-corruption code as he was involved in "misconduct"&nbsp;during his failed fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. According to Article 4.7.1 of PCB anti-corruption code, he will not take part in cricket related activity until the investigation is complete.&nbsp;

However, netizens showed no mercy to the cricketer and continued trolling him on Twitter.&nbsp;

Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said that his remarks on ex-teammate Danish Kaneria that he was discriminated for being a Hindu were taken out of context.

''Whatever Shoaib Akhtar has said is absolutely true, I was humiliated by my teammates...I was scared to reveal names earlier but I am ready to reveal names now,'' he was quoted as saying.

Kaneria is among a few Hindu cricketers to play for Pakistan's international cricket.

He played 61 test matches for the country before being banned by International Cricket Council (ICC) for his alleged role in spot-fixing.

Karachi hosts a one-day international for the first time in 10 years when Pakistan take on a depleted Sri Lanka on Friday, furthering the country's revival in international cricket.

The current tour — comprising of three one-day internationals and as many Twenty20s — was tainted by the withdrawal of 10 Sri Lankan players who cited security fears.

Sri Lanka then stalled the tour after receiving information of a possible militant attack on the team, before the all clear was finally given last week.

All the arrangements are being led by the country's military, with around 2,000 security personnel on alert at the team's hotel and at the ground.

"SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket) has presented us the security plan which we are getting in Pakistan so I am pretty happy with that and I explained to my family as well, so they don't have a concern," said Thirimanne earlier this week.

The captain said the decision by some of his teammates to pull out of the tour was a "personal matter".

"We still have a good team," he said. "I believe if we play to our potential we can do very well."

Former Pakistan spinner Abdul Qadir, credited for reviving the art of leg-spin bowling in the 1970s and 80s, died of a heart attack in his hometown Lahore, his son told AFP on Friday.

"My father never had a heart problem so it was sudden and shocking that he suffered a severe attack and could not survive," Salman Qadir told AFP.

Qadir, who would have turned 64 on September 15, was one of the favourites of former captain Imran Khan -- now Pakistan's prime minister.

Qadir made his Test debut against England in 1977 and went on to play 67 Tests, taking 236 wickets with a best of 9-65 against England at the same venue in 1987.

Abdul Qadir, former Pakistan leg-spinner, dies of cardiac arrest at 63

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir on Friday announced his retirement from Test matches with immediate effect, but reaffirmed his commitment to playing white-ball cricket.

Amir, who was jailed in 2011 for his part in a spot-fixing scandal, featured in 36 Tests, taking 119 wickets at an average of 30.47.

"It has been an honour to represent Pakistan in the pinnacle and traditional format of the game," the 27-year-old, who made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Galle in July 2009, said in a statement.

"I, however, have decided to move away from the longer version so I can concentrate on white-ball cricket.

"Playing for Pakistan remains my ultimate desire and objective, and I will try my best to be in the best physical shape to contribute in the team's upcoming challenges, including next year's ICC T20 World Cup."

Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has courted controversy again, despite only recently being brought back to the international fold following a two-year absence, after breaching a team curfew ahead of the fifth one-dayer against Australia.

Akmal was sent home from Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy squad in England for failing fitness tests and followed that up with a public outburst against head coach Mickey Arthur.

He was recalled for the first time since that spat for Pakistan's five-match series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said the 28-year-old had been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and received an official reprimand for a late night-out ahead of Sunday's fifth ODI against Australia in Dubai.

The cricketer pleaded guilty to the charge, apologised and accepted the sanction, the PCB added.

"I am glad that Umar has realised his mistake, and has accepted and apologised for his actions, which were clearly unprofessional and in no way can be ignored or overlooked," PCB managing director Wasim Khan said in a statement.

"The PCB expects a high level of professionalism and commitment from its players, and this action is a reiteration and timely reminder that any indiscipline shall not be tolerated or accepted."

Akmal made his debut as a 19-year-old in 2009 in a Test against New Zealand. Once considered the future of Pakistan's batting, he played the last of his 16 matches in the longest format in 2011.

"The PCB notes the ICC decision on Sarfraz Ahmed with its utmost disappointment. PCB had anticipated that the matter had been resolved amicably between the two players and the two Boards following Sarfraz Ahmed's public apologies, which were accepted by the player, the Board and South Africa cricket team," the statement said.

"The PCB will be pursuing this matter at the ICC forums with the objective to bring reforms to the Code, promoting amicable resolutions to issues as opposed to penalties. Having said that, the PCB reiterates its zero-tolerance approach towards racist comments and behavior," it said.&nbsp;

The PCB also announced that Sarfraz would be returning home immediately from South Africa.

Sarfraz was heard on stump microphone of making racist remarks directed at Andile Phehlukwayo.

"Abey kaalay, teri ammi aaj kahan baitheen hain? Kya parhwa ke aya hai aaj tu? (Hey black (man), where is your mother sitting? What prayer did you get her to say for you today)?" Sarfraz was heard as saying.

Shoaib Malik will captain the team for the remaining ODIs and T20 internationals while Mohammad Rizwan has been included in the T20I side.

A PCB source said that the Board was unaware that Sarfraz would be suspended for four matches when it named him on Saturday to lead the team in the T20 series in South Africa, beginning on February 6.

"We were not aware what penalty the ICC would impose on him and when. There was some doubt if Sarfraz would face a ban after he had apologised publicly and in person to the South Africa players including Andile Phehlukwayo," a PCB official told PTI on Sunday.

Sarfraz, who leads Pakistan in all three formats, became the first Pakistani player to be penalized by the ICC under its anti-racism code.

The source also said that the ICC had considered an eight-match ban but took into account his prompt apology and the report of the match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

According to media reports, Pakistan's chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and South African players Hashim Amla and Imran Tahir had played major roles in diffusing the situation.

Inzamam, who is in South Africa watching the one-day series with the World Cup in mind, used his friendship with Amla and Tahir to diffuse the situation.

The 'Daily Jang' newspaper reported that Inzamam had approached Amla and Tahir immediately after the incident happened and requested them to help out in containing the situation.
