Meanwhile, the Hindon River in Noida, a tributary of the Yamuna, receded to 196.84 metres on Thursday at 7 am after recording its Highest Flood Level (HFL) of 197.28 metres on Wednesday.&nbsp;

Till now, a total of 1,300&nbsp;villagers have been displaced&nbsp;and moved to shelters while some 1,600 hectares&nbsp;of land has&nbsp;submerged in Noida and Greater Noida. &nbsp;

Manish Kumar Verma, the Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate and Lokesh M Noida Authority CEO visited the affected villages and reviewed the situation.&nbsp;

Amid the monsoon season in India, various states like Kolkata, Gujarat and Delhi have been reporting cases of Conjunctivitis or Pink Eye, with the majority of cases among the young population.&nbsp;

AIIMS Delhi officials told news agency PTI that they have been recording some 100 cases every day.

The FDA has recommended consumers to be cautious if they have purchased these products and to return them to the place of purchase for refund.&nbsp;

Over the weekend, in Rhodes, some 20,000 people were forced to leave their homes and hotels as the "inferno" that began last Tuesday reached the coastal resorts on the island's southeast over the weekend.&nbsp;

<h2>Evacuations amid&nbsp;firefighting </h2>

Talking to Reuters, fire brigade spokesperson Ioanis Artopios said,&nbsp;"Firefighting forces have not stopped operating since Tuesday."

"Crews have been heading from Athens to replace their colleagues... they are working in very tough conditions amid extreme heat," added Artopios.

As per the spokesperson, on Monday, hundreds of people were also evacuated from areas other than the southeast coastal resort areas, while seven firefighting aircraft would continue to battle the flames until nightfall.

Indian national capital's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has announced a plan to install 500 water ATMs across the city to provide drinking water treated using the Reverse Osmosis (RO) process to residents in slums and densely populated areas.

During an inspection of an RO plant in Delhi's Mayapuri, Kejriwal revealed that four water ATMs have already been installed, with 500 more planned for the first phase.

<h2>20 litres per person</h2>

Each person will reportedly receive a card that allows them to draw 20 litres of purified water per day from these ATMs. The ATMs will be strategically placed near slums and other areas where laying pipelines for water supply is challenging. Water sourced from tube wells will be treated at the RO plants before being distributed through the water ATMs.

Kejriwal emphasised that this initiative aims to ensure that even economically disadvantaged individuals have access to safe drinking water.&nbsp;

Talking to reporters, the chief minister, as per a Hindustan Times report, said: "This card is like a water ATM. Through this, each person will get 20 litres of purified water in areas with inadequate drinking water facilities."

"We know rich people install RO at their home, but now poor people will drink the same water," he remarked.

<h2>How the 'Water ATM' will work</h2>

The water ATMs, as per a PTI report, will function like a water bank, offering purified water to those living in areas with inadequate drinking water facilities.

Earlier this year, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) received directives from the chief minister to address the issue of contaminated water in various parts of the city. As part of the plan, RO-based purification plants will be set up in 20 slum clusters across Delhi to provide clean drinking water.

"She didn't win – I'm not sure why she did that. I guess she just wanted to be on TV. We don't know who the winner is yet. They still haven't come forward."

US: Woman claiming to be winner of $1 billion Powerball Jackpot is a fraud, reveals store owner's family

David Hunter, the man who made headlines for killing his terminally ill wife in Cyprus, has been cleared of murder charges. However, on Friday (July 21st), the Cyprus court found Hunter guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter, which as per his daughter is "the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances."&nbsp;He will now be sentenced on 27 July.

The 75-year-old has repeatedly claimed that his wife had begged him to end her misery.

<h2>A mercy killing</h2>

74-year-old Janice Hunter, as per Sky News, died of asphyxiation at the couple's retirement home near Paphos in December 2021.&nbsp;

At the time, David admitted to killing her but denied it was a murder. He told the Cyprus court that Janice was suffering from blood cancer and had "begged him" to take her life, relieve her of the pain.&nbsp;

"She wasn't just my wife, she was my best friend," he exclaimed.

<h2>'Best we could have hoped for'</h2>

Lesley Cawthorne, Janice and David's daughter told Sky News she was relieved that her father has been cleared of murder charges.

"It's the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances, and I really hope the judges can extend their compassion and be lenient in their sentencing."

In June 2022, she told BBC that her mother had been "in absolute agony" in her final months.

As per David, his wife had been begging him to relieve her of the pain&nbsp;for weeks.

"For five or six weeks before she died, she was asking me to help her. She was asking me more every day," he said.

He claimed that he kept hoping she will change her mind but that he finally gave in to her pleas and covered her mouth and nose after she got "hysterical". Following this, he also tried to take his own life.

Despite opposition from the defence, the court had allowed his confession, deeming it lawfully obtained.&nbsp;

<h2>Not a pre-planned act</h2>

As per BBC, Hunter's lawyer Michael Polak, the verdict meant there was a "very good chance" his client would receive a suspended sentence and be able to return to the UK to live with his daughter.

"This wasn't a pre-planned act," said Polak, adding that his client "acted on the spur of the moment because she (Janice) was in so much pain."

According to the lawyer, judges also accepted Hunter had a "loving" and "dream" relationship with his wife of more than 50 years and "on that morning she asked him to end her life".

However, on Friday (July 21st), the Cyprus court found Hunter guilty of a lesser charge of manslaughter, which as per his daughter is "the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances." He will now be sentenced on 27 July. The 75-year-old has repeatedly claimed that his wife had begged him to end her misery. A mercy killing 74-year-old Janice Hunter, as per Sky News, died of asphyxiation at the couple's retirement home near Paphos in December 2021. At the time, David admitted to killing her but denied it was a murder. He told the Cyprus court that Janice was suffering from blood cancer and had "begged him" to take her life, relieve her of the pain. "It's the best we could have hoped for in the circumstances, and I really hope the judges can extend their compassion and be lenient in their sentencing." In June 2022, she told BBC that her mother had been "in absolute agony" in her final months. As per David, his wife had been begging him to relieve her of the pain for weeks. "For five or six weeks before she died, she was asking me to help her. She was asking me more every day," he said. Not a pre-planned act As per BBC, Hunter's lawyer Michael Polak, the verdict meant there was a "very good chance" his client would receive a suspended sentence and be able to return to the UK to live with his daughter. "This wasn't a pre-planned act," said Polak, adding that his client "acted on the spur of the moment because she (Janice) was in so much pain." According to the lawyer, judges also accepted Hunter had a "loving" and "dream" relationship with his wife of more than 50 years and "on that morning she asked him to end her life". The Worker's Party (WP), Singapore's largest opposition party, said on Wednesday (July 19) that Member of Parliament Leon Perera and the party's youth wing president Nicole Seah have handed in their resignations after a video of the two was circulated on social media. In the video, they were seen holding hands.

"The Constitution of the Workers' Party requires candidates to be honest and frank in their dealings with the party and the people of Singapore," said Singh.

As per AFP, 53-year-old Leon Perera, and 36-year-old Nicole Seah, who were part of the party's top decision-making body, are both married with children.

In the resignation letter, the two lawmakers have apologised to their families, constituents and the party.

Vied, who now teaches little kids, told Newsweek that she had her first seizure 11 years ago when she was 19 and that it began affecting her quality of life. She recalled the&nbsp;incident when she was working at the front desk at a clothing store and went into a seizure behind the register. Following this incident, she suffered from major anxiety imagining if&nbsp;she would have another seizure in public. After what Vied described as an embarrassing event, she visited an epileptologist and was sent for MRI. Dr Patel then discovered a tumour in her brain near her speech-motor areas.

"The tumour's mass effect was pressing on the speech areas of her brain and triggering abnormal electrical impulses, leading to her seizures."

When asked why Moana, Vied&nbsp;said, "They originally wanted me to sing 'Sweet Caroline' but I didn't know the words, so they asked me what I would like to sing. I honestly do not know what made me pick Moana. I am a huge Disney fan.&nbsp;I think my mind just thought of something I was listening to recently."

Talking to ITV's Good Morning Britain, a long-time colleague of Edwards, Jon Sopel, has revealed that Edwards is "very angry" about the coverage of the story.

He revealed that "He (Edwards) was very angry, I think felt very let down by what happened in The Sun, furious with their coverage, not overly impressed with the BBC’s coverage either."

"If there’s no question of illegality, there’s no question of sexual assault and things might change, but, as things stand now, there’s been no illegality, there’s been no abuse of power, as far as I can see. Therefore, what is it to do with anybody?" he added.

It has been reported that some 23,692 people were evacuated on Thursday from the adjacent areas of Yamuna. The overflow has caused&nbsp;roads to turn&nbsp;into rivers and gushed into homes and shelters.&nbsp;

On Friday, visuals showed Delhi's Rajghat, ITO, Kashmere Gate, and other prominent roads submerged in water, causing problems for residents. This comes as several areas, including the secretariat houses of the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues, were also flooded on Thursday.&nbsp;

In a bid to take stock of the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in France, had&nbsp;a telephone conversation with Home Minister Amit Shah. In a tweet, the home minister's office said, "PM @narendramodi Ji spoke to Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah over the flood-like situation in parts of Delhi because of the rising water level of the Yamuna River.

Shah briefed him that the water level is likely to recede in the next 24 hours and is keeping a close watch on the situation along with the LG Delhi.

Chandrayaan-3 launch updates: India's lunar mission successfully launched, check expected landing date & time

In India's Himachal Pradesh, the recent flooding and heavy rains have resulted in a death toll of 91 people. Additionally, as many as 14 individuals are reported missing, and the northern state has suffered losses amounting to approximately Rs 4,000 crore ($487 million), said its education minister Rohit Thakur on Thursday (July 13).

The state emergency operation centre reported that as of Wednesday night, the death toll stands at 88. As per an official of the emergency operation centre, a total of 1,020 roads remain blocked, and transportation services, including bus services, have been severely disrupted.

"A total of 1,020 roads were still blocked in the state, while 2,498 transformers and 1,244 water supply schemes have been disrupted," said the official on Thursday, as reported by news agency PTI.

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 24, the Indian hill state of Himachal Pradesh has been severely affected by heavy rains, which triggered landslides and flash floods, leading to road blockages and damage to properties.

As of July 12, according to the emergency centre, the state has incurred a total loss of Rs 1,312 crore, and further estimates of losses are being reported.

Furthermore, several countries, including Botswana, Eswatini, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe, have already achieved the 95-95-95 targets, which means that 95 per cent of people living with HIV know their status, 95 per cent of those aware of their HIV-positive status are receiving treatment, and 95 per cent of those on treatment have achieved viral suppression.

Approximately 16 other countries are nearing the target, including sub-Saharan African nations and countries such as Denmark, Kuwait, and Thailand, reports AFP.

As of 2022, approximately 39 million people worldwide were living with HIV, with 29.8 million accessing antiretroviral therapy.

Overall, AIDS-related deaths have been reduced by 69 per cent since 2004 — the peak.

The report emphasised the opportunity to end AIDS lies in increasing "political will by investing in a sustainable response to HIV through financing what matters most: evidence-based HIV prevention and treatment, health systems integration, non-discriminatory laws, gender equality, and empowered community networks."

Byanyima called the end of AIDS "an opportunity" for leaders to be remembered as those who halted the "world's deadliest pandemic".

As per Saffron Cordery, Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Providers, the disruption caused by strikes is not only affecting patients but is also eroding the relationship between trust leaders and their staff.

Cordery emphasised the growing risk of delaying treatment for thousands of patients and the strain it places on already overstretched services, making it harder to reduce waiting lists.

He said that the consecutive months of industrial action across the NHS have led to the rescheduling of more than 651,000 routine procedures and appointments.

Highlighting the impact on patient safety, Health and Social Care Secretary Steve Barclay expressed disappointment at the further strike action by the BMA.

"It is disappointing that the BMA is going ahead with further strike action. This five-day walkout by junior doctors will have an impact on thousands of patients, put patient safety at risk and hamper efforts to cut NHS waiting lists," said Barclay, as reported by The Independent.

As per Barclay the BMA's pay demand of 35 per cent or more is "unreasonable" and inflationary.

"We were in discussions about pay and a range of other measures to improve the working lives of junior doctors until their representatives collapsed the negotiations by announcing further strikes. A pay demand of 35 per cent or more is unreasonable and risks fuelling inflation, which makes everyone poorer."

The rain continued&nbsp;in several parts of&nbsp;Uttarakhand on Tuesday and Wednesday. Landslides triggered by&nbsp;heavy rain disrupted traffic on key highways, prompting authorities to urge people and pilgrims&nbsp;not to travel unnecessarily.&nbsp;

The state reported one death when a car of five people skidded off the road and fell into the Khoh River in the Pauri Garhwal district.

The Ganga River was flowing close to the danger mark in Haridwar and Rishikesh.&nbsp;

Punjab&nbsp;

Flash floods continue to wreak havoc in more than 1,000 villages. At least 11 deaths were reported in Punjab. Three fatalities were reported in the Faridkot district; two each in Mohali, Ropar and Faridkot districts.&nbsp;

Flood alerts have been issued in Amritsar, Pathankot and Gurdaspur. The state government as of now has set up some 127 relief camps across the state, with the most,&nbsp;33, in Jalandhar.&nbsp;
