This revelation comes in the wake of an electoral court decision that has rendered Bolsonaro ineligible for public office until 2030. This decision, as per Reuters, was taken due to his abusing his presidential powers to undermine trust in Brazil's electoral system.&nbsp;

Speaking to Reuters, a person close to the Bolsonaro family described Delgatti's allegations as "devastating."&nbsp;

<h2>How it all started</h2>

The teenager's concern reportedly began when scrolling through social media during the pandemic. She noticed an increasing number of children featured in family vlogs. These videos made her "realise family vlogging is putting very private and intimate moments on&nbsp;the internet."

This prompted her to write a letter to Democrat Dave Koehler, her state senator, urging him to consider protective legislation for these children.&nbsp;

"The fact that these kids are either too young to grasp that or weren’t given the chance to grasp that is really sad," says Nallamothu.&nbsp;

<h2>The law</h2>

Influenced by her letter, last week, Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker signed into law an amendment to the state's Child Labor Law.&nbsp;

Among other things, the new law allows teenagers over the age of 18 to sue their parents if they were featured in monetised social media videos and not adequately compensated. These rights mirror the rights held by child actors.

The new law draws inspiration from the 1936 "Jackie Coogan's Law," which was designed to prevent parents from exploiting child actors' earnings.

Starting July 1, 2024, parents in Illinois will be obligated to allocate 50 per cent of earnings from a video's content into a blocked trust fund for the child 'influencer'.&nbsp;

The exact amount, however, will depend on the duration for which the child is featured in the video. For instance, if a child appears in 50 per cent of a video, they'll be liable to receive 25 per cent of the earnings. Similarly, for a video they're in 100 per cent, they will get 50 per cent of the earnings.

Talking to CNN, Senator Koehler said that they "understand that parents should receive compensation too because they have equity in this, but we don't want to forget about the child."

Recently, there has been a rising trend of YouTube parent vloggers and social media influencers posting frequent videos sharing personal details about their lives.&nbsp;

Children often play a significant role in these monetised videos, yet there is no legal requirement for parents to share the video earnings with the children.

Similarly, kid influencer&nbsp;accounts that often earn as much as $20,000 for sponsored posts rarely benefit the children. These accounts are managed by parents due to age restrictions on social media platforms.

"We know with the explosion of social media that parents are using it to monetise kids being on videos. If money is being made and nothing is set up for the children, it's the same thing as a child actor," said Koehler.

Experts say that this legislation "is a long time coming." Jessica Maddox, an assistant professor studying social media influencer communities, expressed hope that other US states will follow Illinois' example.

She said, "Social media labour and careers are becoming increasingly common and viable forms of income, and it’s important that the law catches up with technology to ensure minors aren’t being exploited."

Authorities have sounded an alarm declaring a territory-wide state of emergency and an evacuation order for the outskirts of Yellowknife.&nbsp;

<h2>Crisis situation in Yellowknife</h2>

"We find ourselves in a crisis situation and our government is using every tool available to assist," said the territory's minister of environment and climate change, Shane Thompson.

Residents have been ordered to clear a 22-mile stretch of Highway 3 that connects Yellowknife to the rest of Canada.

NWT Fire has warned that the massive blaze would likely reach the highway on Thursday.

Yellowknife residents have been warned that falling ash and visible smoke are likely in the city as the 163,000-hectares (402,000 acres) fire spreads.

Yellowknife, which is home to 20,000 people, is on high alert. Authorities have warned the residents that a bigger evacuation order may be on its way. Meanwhile, thousands of residents of five other communities in the territory have already been told to evacuate.&nbsp;

<h2>Canada's wildfire season</h2>

Canada is currently grappling with its most severe wildfire season on record, with over 1,000 active fires raging across the country. 230 of these, as per The Guardian, are in the Northwest Territories.

Due to an enduring heat wave, on Tuesday, Western Canada saw 19 daily heat records broken. The heatwave is fuelling the more than a thousand fires plaguing the nation.

US says committed to 'bring home' American soldier Travis King from North Korea

Nawaz Sharif expected to return to Pakistan by September or October, says PML-N leader

A manager and two cooks from a Maharashtra-based restaurant were arrested&nbsp;after a customer on Monday lodged a complaint about&nbsp;finding a rat in his meal.&nbsp;

Anurag Singh, a bank executive, found the rat in the chicken dish he ordered at Papa Pancho Da Dhaba, a restaurant famous for almost two decades for its Punjabi fare.&nbsp;

Bandra police officials confirmed the arrest of the restaurant manager Vivian Sequeira and two cooks who were booked under sections 272 (adulteration of food meant to be sold) and 336 (rash or negligent behaviour that endangers a person's life) under the Indian Penal Code.&nbsp;

What happened?

Singh recalled that he went shopping on Sunday and then to a Punjabi restaurant for dinner. "The chicken curry that I ordered seemed to have a piece of meat that looked much lighter in colour. When I picked it out with a spoon, it turned out to be a small rat."

Furthermore, Singh said when he complained to the staff, they apologised but the manager didn't come forward for some 45 minutes. The bank manager added that he started feeling sick right after he discovered a rat in the curry, which he had already consumed and consulted a doctor on the way home and took medicines as prescribed.&nbsp;

However, the restaurant manager insisted that such&nbsp;an incident has not occurred in the last 22 years. He said&nbsp;that the food is checked multiple times by the staff members so that no such thing ever happens. Sequeira added that he feels the customer did it intentionally to extort money.&nbsp;

Devrak Gore, the advocate for the restaurant, said that Singh came with one more person and was quite drunk and had almost finished the food when they pointed out the rat in the dish after the staff asked them not to consume&nbsp;alcohol.&nbsp;

"They even asked the manager whether he would like to settle the matter. Later, they approached the cops. They have ruined the lives of two poor people who are our cooks and do not have any criminal cases against them."

He alleged that the cops didn’t go by the book in this case and did not&nbsp;include&nbsp;any FDA officials in their investigation.

"They have not even taken any samples for testing. Nor was there a medical test of the complainant who claims to have eaten the allegedly contaminated curry. It was much later in the night that they asked the chef to get it to the station. Since it was not sealed and taken in front of witnesses, there are chances that it could be mishandled."

According to Hindustan Times, the three have been released on bail, while an investigation into the meat supplier of the restaurant is still on.&nbsp;

A manager and two cooks from a Maharashtra-based restaurant were arrested after a customer on Monday lodged a complaint about finding a rat in his meal. Anurag Singh, a bank executive, found the rat in the chicken dish he ordered at Papa Pancho Da Dhaba, a restaurant famous for almost two decades for its Punjabi fare. Bandra police officials confirmed the arrest of the restaurant manager Vivian Sequeira and two cooks who were booked under sections 272 (adulteration of food meant to be sold) and 336 (rash or negligent behaviour that endangers a person's life) under the Indian Penal Code. What happened? Singh recalled that he went shopping on Sunday and then to a Punjabi restaurant for dinner. "The chicken curry that I ordered seemed to have a piece of meat that looked much lighter in colour. When I picked it out with a spoon, it turned out to be a small rat." Furthermore, Singh said when he complained to the staff, they apologised but the manager didn't come forward for some 45 minutes. The bank manager added that he started feeling sick right after he discovered a rat in the curry, which he had already consumed and consulted a doctor on the way home and took medicines as prescribed. However, the restaurant manager insisted that such an incident has not occurred in the last 22 years. He said that the food is checked multiple times by the staff members so that no such thing ever happens. Sequeira added that he feels the customer did it intentionally to extort money. Devrak Gore, the advocate for the restaurant, said that Singh came with one more person and was quite drunk and had almost finished the food when they pointed out the rat in the dish after the staff asked them not to consume alcohol. "They even asked the manager whether he would like to settle the matter. Later, they approached the cops. They have ruined the lives of two poor people who are our cooks and do not have any criminal cases against them." He alleged that the cops didn’t go by the book in this case and did not include any FDA officials in their investigation. "They have not even taken any samples for testing. Nor was there a medical test of the complainant who claims to have eaten the allegedly contaminated curry. It was much later in the night that they asked the chef to get it to the station. Since it was not sealed and taken in front of witnesses, there are chances that it could be mishandled." According to Hindustan Times, the three have been released on bail, while an investigation into the meat supplier of the restaurant is still on. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp refutes Donald Trump's allegations of election theft

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Monday (August 15th) expressed strong disapproval of the Nigerien military junta's threat to prosecute former President Mohammed Bazoum for treason and other allied crimes.

In a statement released on Monday, ECOWAS said that the group's latest statement contradicts the junta's supposed commitment to restoring constitutional order in the impoverished West African nation.

ECOWAS said that "It (the planned prosecution) represents yet another form of provocation and contradicts the reported willingness of the military authorities in the Republic of Niger to restore constitutional order through peaceful means."

In a statement released on Monday, the United States also voiced its outrage over the Niger military rulers' threats.&nbsp;

"We are incredibly dismayed by reports that President Bazoum's unjust detention has gone even a step further," said State Department spokesperson&nbsp;Vedant Patel addressing the press.

"This action is completely unwarranted and unjustified and, candidly, it will not contribute to a peaceful resolution of this crisis," he added.

<h2>Prosecution for treason</h2>

The group of soldiers who took control of Niger on July 26th claimed on Sunday night that they had collected evidence&nbsp;that it would use "to prosecute the deposed president and his local and foreign accomplices before the competent national and international bodies for high treason and undermining the internal and external security of Niger."

The junta, as per reports, had made this declaration shortly after its leader, Gen. Abdourahmane Tchiani, announced his willingness to engage in a dialogue with ECOWAS leaders regarding the crisis situation in Niger.

<h2>'Extensive access'</h2>

Spiegel, citing anonymous security sources, reported that the suspect in question had "extensive access" to the German military's electronic capabilities.

The man, as per an AFP report, in May 2023, approached the Russian embassy in Berlin and the consulate in Bonn "on his own initiative" and offered his cooperation.

He is suspected of providing information about his work for the German military division (Bundeswehr) to Russian diplomatic missions. Allegedly, he did this with the intention of passing it on to a Russian secret service.

This comes just weeks after the German domestic security agency BfV warned against the risk of an "aggressive Russian espionage operation". Such reports as per DW have increased since Russia began its invasion of neighbouring country Ukraine in February 2022.

In April of this year, Germany also expelled some Russian diplomats over concerns of espionage. In retaliation, Russia had ordered over 20 German diplomats to leave the nation. Further, in May, Moscow imposed a limit of 350 German personnel in the nation.

Germany arrests alleged spy over suspicions of espionage for Russia

As per the report, the first asylum seekers boarded the vessel on Monday (August 7th). On Friday, the barge that is currently docked in Portland Port, Dorset had 39 people.

"Environmental samples from the water system on the Bibby Stockholm (barge) have shown levels of Legionella bacteria which require further investigation," said a spokesperson at the Home Office, as quoted by Reuters.

"As a precautionary measure, all 39 asylum seekers who arrived on the vessel this week are being disembarked while further assessments are undertaken."

"No individuals on board have presented with symptoms of legionnaires' (disease), and asylum seekers are being provided with appropriate advice and support," added the spokesperson.

<h2>Legionella threat</h2>

The potentially fatal bacteria 'legionella' can cause lung infections like legionnaires’ disease or Pontiac fever.

It is highly infectious and can be contacted by merely breathing a small droplet of infected water in the air.

The infection, as per Reuters, is described by the British health service as uncommon but "very serious".

The hulking three-story Bibby Stockholm barge has the capacity to house around 500 people in over 200 bedrooms. While it was currently housing 39 people, as per Reuters, more people were expected to be moved in over the coming weeks.

The discovery of legionella comes as an embarrassment for PM Rishi Sunak's government as it tries to showcase its tough new immigration policy. The barge in question was part of the government's high-profile strategy to deter people from arriving in the country on small boats.

Since January, 'cat island' Cyprus has lost hundreds of thousands of its feline population to a fatal strain of coronavirus called the Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

While the coronavirus strain is not transmittable to humans, it has wrecked havoc on the nation's cat population.

Now, to save the beloved cats that roam the island, unused coronavirus vaccination meant for human use will be made available to the furry residents of Cyprus, announced officials on Thursday.&nbsp;

<h2>Human vaccines for felines</h2>

As per an AFP report, the government has given the green light to this vaccination use after receiving a recommendation from the nations'&nbsp;agriculture ministry.

<h2>The death toll</h2>

Animal advocates claim that an estimated 300,000 cats have been lost to the coronavirus strain since January.&nbsp;

In the southern part of the island, Dinos Ayiomamitis, head of Cats PAWS Cyprus and vice-president of Cyprus Voice for Animals, estimates that a third of the cats have succumbed to the virus.

However, the island's veterinary association argues that this number is an exaggeration and has put the number at under 10,000.

As the FIP outbreak continues to spread, animal rights organisations have raised the concern that Cyprus may soon come to be known as "the island of dead cats."&nbsp;

<h2>What is Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP)?</h2>

As per the Cornell University website, Feline infectious peritonitis is a viral disease in cats caused by certain strains of the feline coronavirus.

While most feline strains of coronavirus, known as feline enteric coronavirus (FeCV), are found in the gastrointestinal tract do not cause significant disease, in some cases it can become the dangerous disease known as FIPV.

Some 200 million tonnes of plastic waste is produced in the world annually, yet a staggering 80 per cent of this waste finds its way to landfills, with a little fraction – less than 10 per cent – recycled.

Plastics are chemically similar to fatty acids, a key component in soap production. Nevertheless, the size was a problem molecularly, as the plastics are very large about 3,000 atoms long, whereas fatty acids are much smaller.&nbsp;

'The Christmas Magic'

The solution was found by Guoliang Liu, an assistant professor of chemistry at Virginia Tech.&nbsp;The concept, published in the journal Science, revolves around the conversion of polyethene into fatty acids and, subsequently, into soap. He said that the solution came unusually.

"It was Christmas. I was watching the fireplace."&nbsp;

"Firewood is mostly made of polymers such as cellulose. The combustion of firewood breaks these polymers into short chains, and then into small gaseous molecules before full oxidation to carbon dioxide. If we similarly break down the synthetic polyethylene molecules but stop the process before they break all the way down to small gaseous molecules, then we should obtain short-chain, polyethylene-like molecules."

The research team built an oven-like reactor to be used to burn plastic.

The temperature at the bottom was kept hot to break up the polymer chains, while the top was cool enough to stop them from breaking down too far.

They then collected the residue and found that the product they had created is a type of wax, a short-chain polyethene, and then converted the wax into soap.&nbsp;

But, the scenario has proven to be too good. The AI is suggesting people the weirdest, downright poisonous recipes.

You've heard of poison apples, but this is a new one. The app is suggesting out of the box recipes like 'Poison bread sandwiches' and 'mosquito repellent roast potatoes'.&nbsp;

These "unique" experiments came up when customers began experimenting with entering a wide range of household shopping products into the apps.&nbsp;

One recipe that was dubbed "aromatic water mix" was the recipe for chlorine gas, which, as per the bot, was "the perfect non-alcoholic beverage to quench your thirst and refresh your senses."

It recommended that the users should "Serve chilled and enjoy the refreshing fragrance."

Chlorine gas when inhaled can cause lung damage or death.

The curious bot and its weird recipes were shared on X, formerly Twitter. This prompted other New Zealanders to experiment and share their own results on social media.

<h2>What the supermarket said</h2>

A supermarket spokesperson chalked it up to a "small minority" using the bot inappropriately. He said they were disappointed to see "a small minority have tried to use the tool inappropriately and not for its intended purpose."

In a statement, the supermarket said it was "fine-tuning" the controls of the bot to ensure that it was safe and useful for the users.

In a warning notice, they warned users that the recipes were "not reviewed by a human being" and that the company cannot guarantee "that any recipe will be a complete or balanced meal, or suitable for consumption."

"You must use your own judgement before relying on or making any recipe produced by Savey Meal-bot," said the company.

AFP reports that for more than a month, the attraction has remained closed, with ticket booths abandoned. A slow trickle of tourists continue to visit the mega-wheel but only to click pictures of the LED lights mounted on the tourist attraction.

Marwan Mohammad, an Egyptian tourist told the news agency that he asked a security guard about the Ferris wheel but was told that "it doesn't work."

"This is a man-made island. I heard that (the wheel) is heavier than the island itself, that's why it is very dangerous," said a waiter, adding that during its few months of operation, it had been noisy.

"Now... it's only for show, just for the lighting and that's it".

At nearly twice the height of the London Eye, the Ain Dubai is the largest of its kind in the world. The tourist attraction stands at a height of 250 metres (825 feet). Dubai's tourism department claims that each of its legs is the length of 15 London buses.

With 48-passenger air-conditioned cabins, it could carry 1,750 passengers on a single ride. Tickets for the 38-minute ride used to cost between 100 dirhams (about $27) and 4,700 dirhams (about $1,280). Luxury passes and private cabins were also on offer.

It was built by a consortium of international companies and is located in Bluewaters — a man-made island that serves as a retail, residential and entertainment hub.
