The Super Blue Moon on Wednesday will also be joined by Saturn. The ringed gas giant will be just a few days past oppositions, the point at which it lies directly opposite the sun as seen from Earth, making it special.&nbsp;

Is there a Blue Moon every year?

As NASA stated, Blue Moons happen about every two and a half years. However, as per reports, the next Blue Moon is expected to appear in 2024. The last seasonal Blue Moon appeared in 2021.&nbsp;

According to NASA, no major meteor showers are predicted during the peak lunar cycle. However, three minor showers will peak at 6 or fewer visible meteors per hour under ideal conditions.&nbsp;

On the evening of August 30, the twilight ends at 8:43 EDT or 6:12 am IST and the moon will be rising 8 degrees above the east-southeastern horizon with Saturn 5 degrees to the right.&nbsp;

For August 30: In London, the sun sets at 7:54 pm BST, followed by the moonrise at 8:08 pm BST. In New York, the sunset is at 7:33 pm EDT, following a moonrise at 7:45 pm EDT. In Los Angeles, the sun will set at 7:23 pm PDT and moonrise will transpire at 7:36 pm PDT.&nbsp;

For August 31: In London, the sun sets at 7:52 pm BST, while moonrise will occur at 8:24 pm BST. The full moon will reach its peak at 1:37 am BST.&nbsp;

Pragyan Rover:

Pragyan is an Indian lunar rover, which is a part of Chandrayaan-3 that recently landed on the moon's south pole. It is the first of its kind to be deployed on the moon's south pole.&nbsp;

It has a mass of almost 27 kg and is about the size of a microwave oven, designed to travel up to 500 metres on the moon's surface. It will conduct experiments on the moon's geology, mineralogy and atmosphere.&nbsp;

The rover is equipped with stereoscopic camera-based 3D visions to provide the ground control team with a 3D video of the surrounding terrain.&nbsp;

Shortly after the landing, the space agency said that communication with Vikram Lander had been established and soon shared several images of the lunar surface taken by the Lander's Horizontal Velocity Camera captured during the descent.

What happens now?

The rover is expected to conduct an on-site analysis of the lunar surface. Both the lander and the rover have scientific payloads to carry out the experiments.

The mission has already completed two of its objectives which are,&nbsp;a soft landing on the moon's south pole and placing the rover on the Moon. Now it aims to stay on the lunar surface for 1 Lunar day or 14 Earth days.&nbsp;

After 14 days, Vikram Lander and Pragyan could live&nbsp;longer&nbsp;if they survive the lunar night.

Weather Today: The monsoon season continues in India. The northern hill state of Himachal Pradesh has not seen any relief from the continuous heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert till Friday (Aug 25) predicting moderate to heavy rainfall, amid flash floods and landslides that have ravaged the area.&nbsp;

IMD scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma speaking to ANI said, "There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in parts of the districts of Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Una, Bilaspur and Kangra. We have issued a yellow alert for August 24 and 25."

The IMD scientist added that in the last 24 hours, the state has experienced light to moderate rainfall in several areas, while districts like Mandi, Kangra, Shima and Sirmaur saw heavy to very heavy rainfall. Joginder Nagar reported 154 mm, Palampur reported 136 mm and 70 mm of rainfall in Sirmaur.&nbsp;

Sharma said, "Shimla has the most departure of 103 per cent. Bilaspur has seen 86 per cent more rainfall. August saw 10 per cent more rainfall than usual and the most was in Mandi and Bilaspur."

Following the alert, the Himachal Pradesh administration has taken measures to ensure the safety of the residents. Almost 30 routes including Mandi, Kullu and Dharamshala have been suspended by the state transport department.&nbsp;

The IMD predicts light to moderate fairly to isolated widespread heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh on August 25.&nbsp;

Light to moderate fairly widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall are&nbsp;likely to prevail over West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha on August 25 and 26.&nbsp;

Northeast India:

Light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over the region during the region for the next five days.&nbsp;

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely to prevail over Assam and Meghalaya on 25 and 26 and over Arunachal Pradesh on August 25.&nbsp;

As per a US Department of Commerce statement, "Secretary Raimondo looks forward to constructive discussions on issues relating to the US-China commercial relationship, challenges faced by US businesses, and areas for potential cooperation."

Confirming the visit, China said that the US Commerce Secretary has been invited by her Chinese counterpart, Wang Wentao.

During her August 27-30 trip, Raimondo will travel to both Beijing and Shanghai, said Washington. Her visit will reportedly build on an agreement between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.&nbsp;

Last year, the two leaders had agreed "to deepen communication between the US and the PRC on a range of issues."

Speaking to reporters during a press briefing on Tuesday, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that Raimondo will carry the message that the US is not seeking to decouple from China but rather to "de-risk", which means that Washington only seeks to protect its national security.

"Contrary to claims by some voices in China that we are seeking to slow down China's economy or weaken China's economic growth, that's just not the case," he said.

US secretary of commerce to travel to China next week, to focus on US-China commercial relationship

American Airlines has filed a lawsuit against Skiplagged over unauthorised and deceptive ticketing practices. Skiplagged is an online&nbsp;travel company that helps customers find cheaper flights by using a loophole.&nbsp;

The lawsuit states that Skiplagged has never had the authority to issue American Airlines tickets — only an American Airlines agent can, CBS News reported.&nbsp;

According to the airline, the travel agency has been using a loophole, where a passenger buys a cheaper ticket to a smaller airport with a layover at a bigger airport, even though they have no intention of boarding a second flight, this practice is&nbsp; called Hidden City Ticketing.

It further said that by using this flight booking method, Skiplagged violates AA.com use agreement and conditions, including its policy that states people who use its website must not act as an agent for anyone outside their family.

Skiplagged makes its customer enter their personal and payment information on its websites and then uses the information to book flights on the American website, the suit alleges. "In doing so, Skiplagged masquerades as an American agent for its customers, which is a breach of the Use Agreement."

The lawsuit read, "In what is likely the most egregious communication on its website, Skiplagged tells the passengers to lie to American Airlines about their final destination and participate in Skiplagged's deceptive practices in order to book a ticket."

A representative of American Airlines told CBS News, "If a customer knowingly or unknowingly purchases a ticket and doesn't fly all of the segments in their itinerary, it can lead to operational issues with checked bags and prevent other customers from booking a seat when they may have an urgent need to travel."

"Intentionally creating an empty seat that could have been used by another customer or team member is an all-around bad outcome,"&nbsp;the statement reads.

They had done live streaming at the time of the launch last month and will do the same at the time of its soft landing."

He added that students will come back to the school at 5 pm to see the landing.&nbsp;

Not just government schools, but a number of private schools have also made arrangements for live streaming of the lunar mission.

GD Goenka Public School in Lucknow is organising "India's Back to the Moon." &nbsp;

The chairman of the school, Sarvesh Goel said, "On this momentous occasion, students from more than 20 schools are going to join us to see the live telecast and a gathering of 800-1000 people, including school principals, teachers, and parents, is expected. Division commissioner Roshan Jacob, district magistrate Suryapal Gangwar and district inspector of schools, Lucknow, Rakesh Kumar have given their consent to be present in the event."

This initiative will feature a live telecast of the Chandrayaan-3 landing and talks by astronomers and astrophysicists.

Chandrayaan-3 Landing: Schools & colleges organise live streaming of ISRO's moon mission

Malka Leifer, a former Israeli principal, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting two students at an ultra-Orthodox Jewish school in Australia. The 56-year-old teacher was charged with 18 offences of rape and indecently assaulting two female students between 2004 and 2007, Times of Israel reported.&nbsp;

During the lengthy trial on Thursday, Judge Mark Gamble called Leifer's offence "insidious," scaring the two sisters for life. The judge said, "This case is striking for just how vulnerable these victims were, and for the calculating way in which the offender, Mrs Leifer, took callous advantage... for her own perverse sexual gratification."&nbsp;

Wearing a light blue prison jumpsuit, Leifer attended the sentencing via video link from a security prison in Melbourne. The defence lawyer, Ian Hill previously said Leifer denied "all of the criminal conduct alleged by each of the complainants" and that her interactions with the students were "professional".

The Adass Israel School Sex Abuse Scandal:

It all started in 2007 when one of the sisters Dassi Erlich sought counselling for having nightmares and anxiety about the events that occurred when she was in high school. Following this, Erlich's counsellor contacted the school and the teacher in Melbourne, who was convinced that there had been "clearly sexual behaviour" by Leifer and some boundaries had been crossed.&nbsp;

The dual Israeli-Australian citizen denied all allegations. Leifer, however, fled to her native country Israel with four of her kids, when rumours of her crimes started swirling around, halting her extradition across over 70 hearings.&nbsp;

In 2021, she was hauled back to Australia and was found guilty on 18 of 27 charges of sex abuse against sister Dassi Erlich and Elly Sapper. Furthermore, a jury acquitted Leifer of sexually assaulting a third sister, Nicole Meyer.&nbsp;

As per the judge, Leifer must serve 11 and half years in prison before she can be considered for early release. As soon as she is released from Victoria State Prison, she will be deported to Israel.&nbsp;

The judge gave her 2,069 days off the sentence for the time already served in custody in Australia and Israel.&nbsp;

Gamble read the statement of Elly Sapper, the other sister, who claimed that the abuse had left her feeling utterly broken, ashamed and haunted by the flashbacks. "She continues to blame herself for allowing Ms Leifer to love her. She feels ashamed for not stopping the abuse at the time."

Reportedly, Trump's bond order is more extensive than those granted to other co-defendants.

The businessman has been explicitly barred from using social media "to target his 18 co-defendants in the case, as well as any witnesses and the 30 un-indicted co-conspirators," reports CNN.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee's order states that "The Defendant (Donald Trump) shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a codefendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice."

"The above shall include, but are not limited to, posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual on social media," it specifies.

They also include similar terms for release — defendants have been ordered to regularly report to pre-trial supervision every 30 days, this can also be done over the phone.&nbsp;

Nineteen defendants, including Trump, were indicted in the case last week over their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election results. The defendants have been given the deadline of Friday 12 pm ET to turn themselves in.

Donald Trump's co-defendants, John Eastman, and Scott Hall, have surrendered to authorities in Georgia in the racketeering case over their attempt to overturn the 2020 election results.&nbsp;

Eastman, who is a constitutional law scholar, has been accused of devising a plan to submit a counterfeit slate of Trump electors to Congress from Georgia, in place of the legitimate Biden electors.

Meanwhile, Hall has been charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit election fraud over his alleged involvement in tampering with voting machines in Georgia.

Further, when he was questioned whether his stance on the election's outcome still aligned with Trump's claims of a stolen election, Eastman said "Absolutely," and that there's "No question in my mind."

Trump, as per reports, is expected to turn himself in at the same Atlanta jail on Thursday.&nbsp;

Writing on his platform Truth Social on Monday, Trump labelled the trial a 'Witch Hunt' and said that he would be "ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis," the Georgia official behind the fourth indictment against the former president.

The CDC's Vital Signs report mentions the various forms of mistreatment. These include instances of women being scolded or shouted at, them not receiving a response to requests for help, and not having their physical privacy protected.&nbsp;

Additionally, many reported that they were on the receiving end of threats to withhold treatments or were pressured into accepting unwanted treatment.

Survey data shows that around 30 per cent of Black women, 29 per cent of Hispanic women, and 27 per cent of multiracial women reported mistreatment during their maternity care experiences.&nbsp;

<h2>What would improving pregnancy care do?</h2>

As per the survey that was conducted in April, enhancing the quality of maternity care could play a crucial role in preventing pregnancy-related deaths.

Furthermore, it highlighted how prevalent discrimination was among pregnant women.&nbsp;It noted that "the most common reasons for reported discrimination were age, weight, and income and varied by race/ethnicity."

The survey also found&nbsp;that in general, women tend to hold back from asking questions or concerns to healthcare providers during their maternity care. This hesitation was often due to&nbsp;embarrassment about discussing certain topics, fears that they would be perceived as difficult, or because the providers were rushed.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra stressed that "every mother deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Maternal care is a core component of this nation's health care." He also said, "Bias, stigma, and mistreatment have no place in our healthcare system."

During his meeting with a group of survivors in Lahaina, a city that has been destroyed by the flames, Biden said he could relate to them, because he and First Lady Jill Biden&nbsp;knew what it was like to lose a home.

"I don't want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, Jill and I, what it's like to lose a home," he said, as per remarks published by The White House.

He was referring to an incident from 2004. Back then he was a senator for Delaware and was in Washington for a 'meet the press' session when lightning struck a pond by his home. The bolt&nbsp;hit a wire, only to travel into his Delaware home and into the heating and air conditioning ducts.

As per an AP report from August 2004, this led to a "small fire that was contained to the kitchen."

The then Cranston Heights Fire Company Chief George Lamborn in a statement had said that "the fire was under control in 20 minutes."

"To make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my '67 Corvette, and my cat," said Biden, adding, "But all kidding aside, I watched the firefighters, the way they responded."

As per Business Insider, the US President has earlier been accused of embellishing the story.&nbsp;Previously, he had&nbsp;said that he knew what it was like to have "had a house burn down with my wife in it."&nbsp;

US President Joe Biden was&nbsp;in Maui Monday to&nbsp;engage with local authorities, assess the on-ground situation and console victims of the devastating wildfires that have claimed the lives of more than a hundred residents.

However, people weren't happy with his late response to the terrible tragedy that unfolded in Hawaii. Several residents, mostly those from the western part of Maui, shouted insults at him and held signs reading “no comment” as he left Kapalua Airport in his motorcade.&nbsp;

Biden's arrival, on Monday, comes nearly two weeks after devastating wildfires swept through the Hawaiian island, claiming the lives of over 114 individuals.&nbsp;

<h2>Residents were visibly angry with Biden</h2>

Those gathered yelled&nbsp;“Go home Joe!” as Biden prepared to speak on the wildfires. Notably, Biden has been accused by the residents of Hawaii of late response and being indifferent to their troubles following the devastation. Locals say that efforts being made to help them aren't enough.

Other signboards read, “NO COMMENT,” “REALLY $7, “ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS”, and “FJB".&nbsp;

There were a few boards that&nbsp;endorsed&nbsp;former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential bid.&nbsp;

Others alleged that the airport where Biden landed wasn't used to bring in relief supplies for the affected residents.

“Where has the president been?“ Dennis Mullen, 58, a resident of Kahana said while speaking to The New York Post.

“Any number of military aircraft, planes and helicopters could have flown in here. To leave a town that was just devastated shut down was just ridiculous. The runway wasn’t cratered,” Mullen said.

Mali, which has witnessed three coups in the past decade, is currently under the rule of a military junta that has been pressing for the departure of the MINUSMA UN mission which commenced in 2013 following the 2012 separatist and jihadist rebellions in the northern part of the nation.&nbsp;

MINUSMA has already handed over control of two bases near Timbuktu to Malian authorities. In spite of the UN&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;with the Junta's demand, the region remains plagued by unrest, reports AFP.

Currently, the UN mission is maintaining a camp within Timbuktu. However, its troops are slated to withdraw from the city by the end of this year.&nbsp;

Judge Kaplan as per Reuters, remarked, "Mr. Trump has not provided a single reason for the court to find that there is any likelihood that he will succeed on appeal."

"This court certifies that the appeal itself is frivolous,"&nbsp;Kaplan wrote.

If the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan agrees that Trump's appeal is frivolous, in line with federal court procedures, it could potentially order him to pay Carroll damages and costs.

<h2>Trump's attempts to&nbsp;delay the case</h2>

Reportedly, in his attempt to secure a stay, the former president had argued that he had a substantial likelihood of proving that Judge Kaplan's June 29 ruling was incorrect. He also claimed that there was "immense public interest" in allowing the appeals court to take a decision.&nbsp;

Furthermore, Trump contended that he would suffer irreparable harm if a trial which is scheduled for January 15, 2024 took place before the appeals court's decision.

However, Judge Kaplan rejected Trump's assertions, and said that Carroll deserved her day in court without undue delay due to the businessman's other trials or his upcoming presidential campaign activities.&nbsp;

The judge also highlighted that Trump's claim of irreparable harm didn't make sense given the delay of over 3.5 years in raising the immunity defence.

"The only purported harm Mr. Trump reasonably may claim he would suffer in this case would be having to stand trial," wrote the judge in his ruling.

This lawsuit is just one in a series of legal challenges faced by 77-year-old Donald Trump.&nbsp;In addition to Carroll's defamation cases, Trump,&nbsp;who is currently a leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination,&nbsp;is grappling with four separate criminal indictments, two of which are related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election loss.

77-year-old E. Jean Carroll, sued Trump in November 2019. She alleged that during the mid-1990s&nbsp;the businessman had raped her in a department store dressing room in Manhattan.&nbsp;

Previously, on May 9, in a separate verdict, a jury held Trump liable for $5 million in damages in response to Carroll's claim of sexual abuse and defamation. Trump has also appealed that verdict.

Talking to Bloomberg, South Africa’s BRICS Ambassador, Anil Sooklal clarified that the upcoming summit's focus will be on promoting local currencies within the bloc.

"Trading in local currencies is clearly on the agenda, he said, adding, "There is no de-dollarisation item on the BRICS agenda."&nbsp;

"The dollar will remain a prominent global currency,&nbsp;that is a given," said Sooklal.

He said that contrary to some narratives making the rounds,&nbsp;the bloc is not a counter to the West or the G7. Instead, he said the alliance aims to "advance the agenda of the Global South and build a more inclusive, representative, just, and fair global architecture."

<h2>Other applicants</h2>

According to&nbsp;South Africa's top diplomat in charge of relations with the bloc, more than 40 countries have expressed interest in joining the&nbsp;BRICS&nbsp;group of nations. Nations&nbsp;that expressed interest include Algeria, Argentina, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Gabon, and Kazakhstan.

Previously, in July, Algeria applied for a spot in the bloc and also submitted a request to become a shareholder member of the BRICS Bank. The North African nation, as per a Reuters report, seeks to join the economic alliance to open up new economic opportunities.

‮"‬We officially applied to join the BRICS group, we sent a letter asking to be shareholder members in the bank ... Algeria's first contribution in the bank will be $1.5 billion," said Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as quoted by Ennahar TV.

Reuters reports that the nation which is rich in oil and gas reserves is seeking to diversify its economy and also strengthen its partnership with countries like China.

BRICS, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, accounts for more than 40 per cent of the world's population and about 26 per cent of the global economy.
