A small plane with 10 people aboard crashed into shops in the center of the tourist city of Gramado in southern Brazil on Sunday, civil defence officials said, and initial reports indicated that there were no survivors.

Mbappe, back after a brief absence with a thigh injury, scored for Madrid in midweek as they won the Intercontinental Cup.
It was welcome relief for the forward after missing two penalties in recent weeks against Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao, as well as suffering criticism for his form.
"I know I've got much more in my legs than I'm showing, but in the last games I've played better," Mbappe added.
"The Bilbao game was good for me, I hit the bottom, I missed a penalty and it was a moment to realise that I have to give everything for this shirt and show my personality."
With Vinicius Junior suspended, Mbappe took the reins and broke the deadlock in the 10th minute as Madrid brought the ball out from the back and worked it to Rodrygo on the left flank.
The Brazilian squared to Mbappe on the edge of the area, who took one touch to control, another to set himself and with his third, smashed a fierce effort past the helpless Alvaro Fernandez.
Madrid's second, 10 minutes later, was even better, with Valverde firing a screamer into the top corner from over 30 yards out after a short corner routine.
Ancelotti's side were in full flow and the third followed in the 34th minute when Lucas Vazquez crossed for Rodrygo, who finished with aplomb.

A suspected terrorist was apprehended in South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, on Sunday (December 22) during a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and West Bengal’s Special Task Force (STF).
The man, identified as Javed Munshi, is believed to be a senior member of the banned terrorist organisation Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM). According to sources cited by India Today TV, Munshi had undergone training in Pakistan.

“A 58-year-old man identified as Javed Ahmed Mushi was arrested from a house at Canning in South 24 Parganas on Sunday. He is a resident of Srinagar and is suspected of having close links with the TuM,” a senior IPS officer from West Bengal told Hindustan Times.
Following his arrest, a Kolkata court granted the Jammu and Kashmir Police transit remand for Munshi until 31 December. He is set to be transported to Srinagar, where he will be presented in court.
As per media reports, Munshi, originally from Srinagar, had been hiding at a relative’s house in Canning after arriving in the area a few days prior. “Based on specific intelligence from Kashmir Police, we acted swiftly to arrest him,” an STF official was cited saying by India Today.

Munshi’s arrest comes a day after the STF teams from Assam and West Bengal detained two suspected members of the banned militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) in Murshidabad.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Munshi had previously travelled to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan using counterfeit Pakistani passports.

The first half hour of the game saw both defences holding their shape and thwarting the opposition’s attack. However, the hosts had a few half chances with Noah orchestrating most of the moves. The final quarter of the first half saw Kerala Blasters FC dominate possession, whereas Mohammedan SC were happy to sit back and hold their lines.
However, Kerala Blasters FC eventually created the best opening of the first half when Adrian Luna found Noah in the box with a long ball. The Moroccan headed the ball towards an onrushing Korou Singh. However, the youngster’s header struck the post before Peprah nestled the side netting, summing up the first period which saw only a solitary shot on target.
Kerala Blasters FC continued their dominance in the second half with Milos Drincic coming very close to breaking the deadlock from a corner delivered by Luna. The defender rose the highest from the corner and made a great connection but he was denied by Bhaskar, who made a diving save to keep the visitors in the game. Luna found Drincic in the subsequent corner as well but this time he headed it wide.
Kerala Blasters FC finally broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute courtesy of an error from Bhaskar Roy. The Mohammedan SC custodian misjudged a corner kick from Luna as he tried to punch it out instead of gathering the ball. Therefore he deflected the ball into his own net, opening the scoring for the game.

The stampedes outside food distribution centres come as Africa's most populous country grapples with its worst economic crisis in a generation, with inflation soaring to 34.6 per cent in November.

Confirming the toll of 22 dead in Okija, a spokesman for the Anambra state police expressed condolences to the families and friends of those killed.
"The investigation into the unfortunate incident is still ongoing," Anambra police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga said on Sunday in a statement.
Four children were among the 10 killed in the Abuja stampede outside the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Maitama district, police said.
Another eight people were injured in the crush, according to a police spokesperson.
"In a season of joy and celebration, we grieve with fellow citizens mourning the painful losses of their loved ones. Our prayers of divine comfort and healing are with them," said President Tinubu.
A statement from the president's spokesman said Tinubu had "cancelled all his official events in Lagos today... in honour of the stampede victims."
Police pointed to similarities between Saturday's incidents and a stampede at a school funfair in the southwestern city of Ibadan on Thursday.

If this deal materialises, then Vietnam will be the second country after the Philippines to purchase the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles from India. 
Vietnam, it is understood, has been waiting for some time for the draft agreement, which includes the final deal amount, delivery timeline, payment terms, etc., from BrahMos Aerospace (BAPL). 
The development comes at a time when Brahmos's top brass faces leadership challenges over the appointment of new CEO and MD, Dr. Jaiteerth Raghavendra Joshi.

Arun, the other victim, suffered severe burns and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later declared dead by medical officials.

Neighbours attempted to extinguish the fire by filling buckets with water and breaking into the room, but their efforts came too late to save the two young victims.

They also held placards and staged a protest, demanding justice for Revathi, the woman who died in the stampede, and Rs 1 crore in compensation. They were reportedly demanding that the actor should take care of Revathi's family expenses. 
According to other sources, tomatoes were thrown at the residence, and protesters even vandalised the flower pots inside. A video showed protesters shouting and damaging the things at the actor's house.

Allu Arjun's residence pelted with stones amid Pushpa 2 stampede controversy

In a shocking turn of events, Michael B. Jordan's Los Angeles home was intruded by a man earlier this week. Breaching the security, the man got into the actor's house by falsely claiming to be a member of the actor's security team.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that they were called by the security team, and the suspect was escorted 'off the property' by them.

When the police arrived, they talked to the suspect, who allegedly said that he was part of Jordan's security.
The suspect was seen in the front yard on Wednesday, and Jordan was in his home when the incident happened. However, he left the home when the man was questioned by the officers. 
Initially, Jordan's team told the cops that they just wanted to get the suspect out of the property. Following this, cops took the suspect's information and let him go. However, later, the actor's team said they wanted to press charges against the intruder. The Los Angeles police have filed a trespassing report.

Khamenei also commented on the situation in Syria, saying, “I predict that a powerful and honourable group will rise in Syria as well. A young Syrian has nothing to lose — his university is unsafe, his school is unsafe, his home is unsafe, his street is unsafe, his entire life is unsafe. What is he supposed to do?”
He called for resistance against forces that he claimed were responsible for spreading instability in the region. “We must stand with strength and determination against those who have designed and implemented this insecurity, and God willing, we will prevail over them,” he said.

After months of fear due to bomb threats received by several schools in Delhi, the Special Cell of Delhi Police revealed that at least two schools in the Rohini district received threatening emails from their own students, who wanted to postpone exams as they were not prepared. 
"After investigation by the Special Cell of Delhi Police, it was found that the emails were sent to both schools by two different students of the same school," Delhi police said in a statement.
The police added, "Both students had sent this email to stop the exam because they were not prepared for the exam paper."

Actor and director Justin Baldoni has been dropped from his talent agency WME following Blake Lively's sexual harassment case. 
On Friday (Dec 21), Lively filed a legal case against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment. A few hours after the news broke, the talent agency parted ways with the director, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, no official statement has been released by the agency yet.
The same agency also manages Blake and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

As per the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the actress has levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment and said that the on-set behaviour has caused her “severe emotional distress.”
In the filing, it has been stated that things got bad on the set and that a meeting was held to address Blake's complaints. 
The complaint alleges that a few claims that were discussed during the filming were: No more discussion of Blake's weight or her dead father. 
The demands that were mentioned in the meetings were, "no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous 'pornography addiction,' no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight, and no further mention of Blake's dead father".

Denying the claims, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, said that these are ''categorically false accusations'' against the filmmaker. 
“It is shameful that Ms. Lively and her representatives would make such serious and categorically false accusations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and its representatives as yet another desperate attempt to ‘fix’ her negative reputation, which was garnered from her own remarks and actions during the campaign for the film; interviews and press activities that were observed publicly, in real time and unedited, which allowed for the internet to generate their own views and opinions,” he said.

A new study has revealed that surgical removal of tonsils as a child can increase the risk of developing an anxiety-related disorder later in life.
In the US, around 300,000 children get their tonsils removed surgically to reduce recurrent infections or improve breathing while sleeping. 
Researchers from Guangxi Medical University in China and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden discovered that tonsillectomy led to a 43 per cent increased risk of developing mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after examining data on over a million people from Swedish health registry.

While this observational study could not pinpoint the cause of it, the analysis revealed a significant risk even after considering the sex, age when their tonsils were removed, family history of stress-related disorders, and socioeconomic status of their parents.
According to the researchers, “These findings suggest a potential role of adenotonsillar diseases or associated health conditions in the development of stress-related disorders.”
“We found that although the risk increase appeared to be greatest during the first years following surgery, an increased risk of stress-related disorders was still noted more than 20 years after the surgery.”
The study, which was published in JAMA Network Open, showed an increased risk of 55 per cent for developing PTSD for those who had tonsillectomies in their early years, compared with those who hadn’t.

While we do not necessarily need tonsils to live, they help the body fight infections and their absence can make us more susceptible to developing certain health conditions, including anxiety-related disorders and persistent inflammation.
Previous studies have indicated that tonsillectomy may increase the risk of other health problems like cancer and autoimmune diseases.
The research team also highlighted, “If our findings here are validated in future studies of independent study populations, mechanistic studies would be needed to disentangle the role of human tonsils and their diseases, via inflammation or other associated health conditions, in the development of psychiatric disorders in general and stress-related disorders specifically.”

Having your tonsils removed as a child may increase the risk of stress disorders: Study

In a miraculous incident in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, five passengers were unhurt after their SUV flipped eight times in a serious accident that could’ve proven much worse. What’s amusing is that the passengers stepped out of the mangled vehicle and asked for tea.
The dramatic visuals of the accident were captured on the CCTV footage of the showroom, in front of which the scene unfolded. In the clip, the vehicle can be seen coming at a high speed and spiralling out of control before resting on the showroom’s main gate.

The vehicle flipped at least eight times and landed in an upside-down position on top of the gate of the showroom. According to an NDTV report, the SUV was travelling on the highway when its driver lost control while taking a turn.

According to the officials, the driver jumped out of the car while it was still tumbling, and the rest of the people inside managed to get out after it came to a halt, luckily all unhurt. 
What seemed like a scary event then turned into a hilarious exchange when the group entered the showroom and asked for tea, leaving the onlookers and company staff baffled at their unexpected request.
Despite the chilling severity of the crash, thankfully none of the passengers were injured.

“No one was hurt… not even a single scratch. As soon as they entered, they asked for tea,” said an official working at the car showroom. 
According to officials, the passengers were travelling from Nagaur to Bikaner. The exact cause of the accident is not known yet, although high speed may have led to it. An investigation is underway.

According to an NDTV report, the SUV was travelling on the highway when its driver lost control while taking a turn. Despite the chilling severity of the crash, thankfully none of the passengers were injured. As per the actress, a few claims that were discussed during the filming were: No more discussion of Blake's weight or her dead father. 
The demands that were mentioned in the meetings were, "no more showing nude videos or images of women to Blake, no more mention of Baldoni's alleged previous 'pornography addiction,' no more discussions about sexual conquests in front of Blake and others, no further mentions of cast and crew's genitalia, no more inquiries about Blake's weight, and no further mention of Blake's dead father".
"No more adding of sex scenes, oral sex or on camera climaxing by BL outside the scope of the script BL approved when signing onto the project," were the other demands that were mentioned in the lawsuit, according to TMZ.
The suit also mentions that all of Blake's demands were approved by the studio Sony Pictures, who distributed the film. 
However, Baldoni’s legal team has fired back, refuting the claims. Soon after the news broke, the director's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, lashed out saying that claims are "false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt.''

"In 2018-19, I was appointed as a director in these companies due to my financial contributions to them in the form of loans. However, I did not have an active executive role, nor was I involved in the day-to-day operations of the businesses. Given my demanding schedule as a professional cricketer, TV presenter, and commentator, neither did I have the time nor expertise to participate in their operations. In fact, I do not play an executive role in any other companies I have funded, till date.
"Regrettably, these companies failed to repay the funds I lent them, leading me to initiate legal proceedings, which are currently sub judice. I also resigned from my directorships several years ago.
"When the Provident Fund authorities issued notices demanding payment of dues, my legal team responded, highlighting that I had no role in these companies and provided documentation from the companies themselves confirming my lack of involvement. Despite this, the Provident Fund authorities have continued with proceedings, and my legal advisors will take the necessary steps to resolve this matter in the coming days." the statement further read.
The police, when arrived to deliver the order, found out that Uthappa has vacated the address mentioned on the warrant, according to a Times of India report.
As no formal complaint has been filed yet in the case so no FIR has been issued so far, the TOI further reported.

"It hasn't started shooting, to be perfectly honest with you. I don't know anything about it," the actor said on the Dish podcast.
“I'm super excited, but it's been pretty quiet about the project. I met with (Nolan) and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I'm sure when he's ready he'll announce what it's about," he added.
Nolan wrote the script and is directing the film, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures.
