During the show, Sehwag -- who played a key role in India's campaign with a hundred versus Bangladesh and blistering knocks against South Africa, England and Pakistan -- revealed how Sreesanth complained of not being able to breathe during the tournament finale, at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where Men in Blue faced Kumar Sangakkara's Sri Lanka.</p>

<p>“You didn't even bowl half your quota. You were complaining 'I'm not being able to breathe' just after bowling 2 to 3 overs and went out," said Sehwag. To this, Sreesanth responded, "I did get a heatstroke because I went to the gym earlier that morning as I felt I won't get a chance in the playing XI. Harbhajan told me to stay ready but he was doing this since quarterfinals, so I felt he can make the cut straight into the finals. But Jai Mata Di I got a chance."</p>

We knew that we would win this from here, and it was very difficult for us to lose. So yes, you know it was more of a sense of satisfaction, job done, let’s move on from here,” he said.</p>

<p>MSD also acknowledged that winning the 2011 World Cup was one of the biggest things in his career as the team won under his captaincy.</p>

<p>“It never gets bigger than that. What I always firmly believe in is to keep your eyes on the target, as simple as possible. <p>The IPL came into the picture in 2008 which saw Shane Warne-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) clinch the title, beating the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Since then, RR have not won the title, coming close in 2022 edition where they lost the final. CSK, on the other hand, won the championship in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. They have lost five finals so far, in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019.&nbsp;</p>

IPL 2023: Updated squads of all 10 teams and their captains

<p>Former Australia captain Steve Smith is in awe of MS Dhoni. Having led perhaps one of the greatest captains ever at the Rising Pune Super Giants (RPSG) in IPL 2017, Smith revealed how MS inspired him from behind the wickets and how his inputs helped Smith guide his team to the final.</p>

<p>Smith, who will be joining the commentary team for the upcoming IPL 2023, heaped praises on MS and even admitted he got shocked when RPSG management asked him to captain the franchise instead of Dhoni, saying he didn’t have answers to that. Revealing what it was like leading MS Dhoni, Smith said he enjoyed doing that, but it was daunting at the same time.</p>

<p>"It was a great experience being able to captain him, but also very daunting as well," Smith told Star Sports. "When I got the call to say that they wanted me to captain, it was a little bit daunting. But that season, MSD was just wonderful. You know, he helped in any way that he could and he's a terrific guy," Smith added.</p>

<p>Elaborating further on his first thoughts after getting approached for the leadership role, Smith said he didn’t believe in the first place and instead asked them if they had spoken with MS Dhoni about the same.</p>

<p>However, upon accepting the role and having succeeded in leading his team to the finals, which they lost against Mumbai Indians, Smith said he had Dhoni's back and that the former India captain was wonderful throughout - – something he cannot thank him enough for.</p>

<p>"Yeah, I didn't really know what to expect initially, you know, MS had captained every team he played for, obviously throughout the IPL with Chennai, every season should I say. "But yeah, when they came and asked me, I was a little bit shocked at first, and then I didn't really know what to say. It was like, have you spoken to MS about this? This is a little bit strange from my side, but after we sorted everything out, MS was just wonderful,” he said.</p>

<p>"And the way he helped me and helped guide that team that year was incredible. And yeah, I couldn't thank him enough," Steve Smith added.</p>

<p>Smith, who recently led Australia to the ODI series win over India, also said MS Dhoni’s nature of remaining cool and calm in almost situation inspired him to such an extent that Smith acquired that trait, not only for that season but for the future as well.</p>

<p>"I think just the calmness that MS shows; we saw it throughout his career, just how calm he was. It didn't look like he was flustered by any emotions or anything like that. "And that's certainly something that I've taken in not just in that season, but just watching him go about his business in the prior years, just how calm and relaxed he was,” Smith said.</p>

<p>“And you know, at times I can get quite agitated and things like that. So you know, I have to try and keep myself as calm and as sort of level-headed as I can. And yeah, that's certainly something that I learned off of MS," Smith concluded.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, back to captaining Chennai Super Kings the following year, MS Dhoni guided his team to the third IPL title, beating SunRisers Hyderabad in the finals. Now Dhoni will lead his CSK franchise in IPL 2023 as they start their campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans on March 31st.</p>

"It was a great experience being able to captain him, but also very daunting as well," Smith told Star Sports. "When I got the call to say that they wanted me to captain, it was a little bit daunting. But that season, MSD was just wonderful. "Yeah, I didn't really know what to expect initially, you know, MS had captained every team he played for, obviously throughout the IPL with Chennai, every season should I say. "But yeah, when they came and asked me, I was a little bit shocked at first, and then I didn't really know what to say. It was like, have you spoken to MS about this? This is a little bit strange from my side, but after we sorted everything out, MS was just wonderful,” he said. "And the way he helped me and helped guide that team that year was incredible. And yeah, I couldn't thank him enough," Steve Smith added. Smith, who recently led Australia to the ODI series win over India, also said MS Dhoni’s nature of remaining cool and calm in almost situation inspired him to such an extent that Smith acquired that trait, not only for that season but for the future as well. "I think just the calmness that MS shows; we saw it throughout his career, just how calm he was. It didn't look like he was flustered by any emotions or anything like that. "And that's certainly something that I've taken in not just in that season, but just watching him go about his business in the prior years, just how calm and relaxed he was,” Smith said. “And you know, at times I can get quite agitated and things like that. So you know, I have to try and keep myself as calm and as sort of level-headed as I can. And yeah, that's certainly something that I learned off of MS," Smith concluded. Meanwhile, back to captaining Chennai Super Kings the following year, MS Dhoni guided his team to the third IPL title, beating SunRisers Hyderabad in the finals. <p>Notably, Dhoni is one of the most successful captains in the IPL history with four titles to his name. Under his leadership, CSK has managed to make it to playoffs every single season except the last one - where he took over the reins mid-season from Ravindra Jadeja.</p>

<p>There, however, been many reports that this could be Dhoni's last IPL after the 41-year-old player announced last year that he'll play in 2023 season and take a call on future depending on how the season goes. MSD had also said that he would like to play his last game in front of the home crowd at Chepauk before calling it quits.</p>

<p>Talking about his numbers, Dhoni has 4,978 runs in the IPL in 234 matches at an average of 39.20 and strike rate of 135.20. Known as one of the best finishers not only in the league but world, Dhoni has led CSK to many victories every since he was bought by the franchise in the inception year of 2008.</p>

IPL 2023, 3 days to go: Emotional tributes paid to MS Dhoni for completing 15 years with Chennai Super Kings

<p>Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has backed the Chennai Super Kings to reach the playoffs in IPL 2023. The former four-time IPL champions stood second-last on the points table in 2022, and now, with the inclusion of World Cup winner in Ben Stokes, Chopra believes CSK will better their previous result.</p>

<p>Speaking on AakashVani on Jio Cinema, Chopra said the Chennai team revolves around MS Dhoni and a plethora of all-rounders they have at their disposal, and that, their success will be defined by these two only.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Apart from Dhoni, Chennai is defined by all-rounders. When you look at this team, there are two wicketkeepers - one is Dhoni, and the other is Devon Conway. Devon Conway is a class player," Chopra said as quoted by Sportskeeda. "If we talk about all-rounders - Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner and Ben Stokes in bold letters, and then two or three more Indian names," Aakash added.</p>

<p>Sharing his thoughts on Chennai’s chances this season, Chopra opines they look strong on paper, and with matches scheduled to take place at Chepauk, the team can prosper. The former Kolkata Knight Riders opener added that knowing MS Dhoni is back leading the team and that this could potentially be his last season in IPL, wonders are expected to happen.</p>

<p>"They are looking like a very decent team on paper. Where can this team reach? They should reach the playoffs if they play to their potential. Dhoni is the captain, there is an emotional connect, it is the last season, and the matches are going to be played in Chennai, which is their fortress," Chopra said.</p>

<p>Elaborating on whom he thinks would top the charts in both departments – batting and bowling, given the firepower CSK have, Chopra said the returning Deepak Chahar could be Chennai’s stand-out bowler while New Zealand’s Devon Conway is sure to make headlines with heaps of runs throughout the tournament. While Chahar missed out on playing last year’s IPL due to an injury, he is likely to remain fit and available for this season. Conway, on the other hand, was among the runs for CSK in 2022, hitting 252 runs at an impressive strike rate of 145.67.</p>

<p>Jadeja had a long, frank chat with captain MS Dhoni, the most important man in the franchise in Mumbai last year after he opted out of the IPL with an injury. He also had a one-on-one with Viswanathan before the 'air of misunderstanding' was cleared. Viswanathan refused to divulge details of his conversation but he did confirm that all parties had free, frank and long conversations.</p>

<p>In the 10 games he played last season, he scored 116 runs at an average of 19 and claimed five wickets at an economy rate of 7.52, numbers that don't flatter one of the best all-rounders in the game currently.</p>

<p>Although the conversations were never made public, Jadeja was unhappy and was on the verge of getting traded from the team. There were reports that he could be released from the franchise in November’s trading window, however, the timely intervention of Dhoni and CEO Viswanathan saw Jadeja remain in CSK colours.</p>

<p>CSK will start their IPL 2023 campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday, March 31. The clash will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as CSK try to start on a high.</p>
