<p>India Meteorological Centre in Himachal Pradesh has predicted that moderate to heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over Himachal Pradesh in the next few hours.</p>

<p>According to the IMD statement, moderate to heavy rainfall at many places is very likely to continue over the state with very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in the district of Chamba Kangra Hamirpur Mandi Bilaspur Solan Shimla Kullu and Sirmaur.</p>

<p>The Met department issued a statement stating, “Very heavy to extremely heavy rain/ thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spell is very likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar in next 24 hours."</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Badrinath National Highway in the Pipalkoti area in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has been blocked due to debris triggered by a landslide, following intermittent rainfall. Several vehicles have also been buried under the debris.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Due to heavy debris falling from the mountain in Pipalkoti, many vehicles were buried under the debris and the roads have been closed,” news agency ANI quoted Chamoli district magistrate Himanshu Khurana as saying.</p>

<p>The district magistrate said that there are vehicles buried under the debris and information has been received about one person being buried under the debris in Pipalkoti.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A total of 52 people died due to rain-related incidents in monsoon this year, while another 37 people sustained injuries, as per official estimates. Heavy rains in Uttarakhand have triggered landslides and flash floods in several places.</p>

<p>The Rishikesh-Chamba NH was blocked for traffic due to a landslide near Kunjapuri Bagardhar in Tehri and the movement of traffic was stopped on the Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar NH at Sakhnidhar.</p>

<p>Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, in a press briefing, asserted that a total of 17 sittings were conducted during the session that continued for 23 days.</p>

<p>He said that the productivity of the Lok Sabha is registered at around 45 per cent and Rajya Sabha at 63 per cent.</p>

<p>"Parliament concluded today. It commenced on July 20 and today on August 11, Friday, it concluded. A total of 17 sittings were held in 23 days. A total of 20 bills were introduced in Lok Sabha, and 5 bills were tabled in Rajya Sabha," the Union Minister said.</p>

<p>"A total of 22 bills were passed in the Lok Sabha, 25 Bills in the Rajya Sabha and 23 Bills were passed in both Houses," he said, further adding that the three bills of Home Ministry to replace the IPC, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act have been sent to Home Standing Committee.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have been able to pass a few bills during the session that witnessed some lively and animated debate. We could take questions on a few occasions but I feel that the productivity of the question hour could have been much better," he said.</p>

<p>Some of the noteworthy bills that were passed were the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill 2023, Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, and the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill-2023.</p>

<p>"In Lok Sabha, the honourable home minister for more than an hour reflected only on Manipur. The honourable prime minister in his discourse focussed on Manipur and indicated to the nation a soothing and healing touch. Now ponder what have we lost and what have we got?" Dhankhar told the House.</p>

<p>The chairman further said, "This House on account of unruly conduct, and indecorous behaviour could not avail the historic opportunity of guiding the Lok Sabha on Manipur and that was on account of our actions. This was very painful. Once again we yielded to the allure of narrow interest, and allowed disorder to be the new normal in the proceedings of the House."</p>

<p>The people in the area are facing massive issues including food crisis, drinking water and many of them have become homeless.</p>

<p>Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday morning said that the authorities were releasing excess water from Kurichu dam in Bhutan.</p>

<p>"The excess water is being carefully redirected through the gates to control the flow. According to reports, the weather in the upstream of the plant has improved since yesterday. Therefore the amount of water coming in may not be huge. We are closely monitoring the situation," Sarma said.</p>

<p>According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the water level of the Brahmaputra River was flowing above the danger level mark at Dhubri, Neamatighat in Jorhat district, Beki River at Road Bridge, Disang River at Nanglamuraghat in Sivasagar district.</p>

<p>The locals of the Basbari area in Assam's Bongaigaon district, are fighting with massive river erosion issues.</p>

<p>As per news agency ANI reports, the Aie River swallowed a market area, as many as 40 houses, one temple, one Mosque and several bighas of agricultural lands.</p>

<p>Naruttam Mazumdar, a resident of the Basbari area told ANI that, in the last two years the people of the area had to face massive problems.</p>

<p>"Around 30-40 families have lost their homes due to river erosion and many of them left this area. My house is also located nearby the river. I am also now fearing that, the river will swallow my house and due to this reason, I am now destroying my house. Where, we will go, where we will live. Maximum villagers of this area are labourers and few villagers are engaged in small business," Naruttam Mazumdar said.</p>

<p>On the other hand, Saddam Hussain, a resident of Basbari village said that people are now facing lots of problems.</p>

<p>"More than 30 houses were submerged due to river erosion. Earlier, the river swallowed the temple, mosque of this area and many bighas of agricultural land. People of this area are now living in fear," Saddam Hussain said.</p>

<p>Earlier on Tuesday, the situation in Assam's Lakhimpur district deteriorated after several new areas were swamped affecting around 60,300 people.</p>

A massive downpour in Delhi has left large swathes of the national capital submerged. On the 9th of July - Delhi received its highest amount of rain on a single day in July since the 1980s. Water from the swelling river has inundated several low-lying areas and roads. Even on the other side of India's border – in neighbouring Pakistan, monsoon rains have caused havoc.
