The average maximum temperature recorded slightly above the long-period average (LPA) in Delhi during July at 35.8 degrees Celsius. However, the heat index or real feel remained at 45.8 degrees Celsius on most days due to high humidity levels.

On Tuesday, Delhi's maximum temperature was measured at 39.3 degrees Celsius, the highest for the month and five degrees more than normal, according to the weather department.

The monsoon trough remained near Central India for 80% of the month, explained Mahesh Palawat, vice president at weather forecasting company Skymet, according to Hindustan Times. This resulted in moisture and cloudy skies but not enough rainfall.&nbsp;

Delhi only witnessed heavy rainfall activity between July 22 and 25 this month due to western disturbances. The national capital recorded 203.7 mm of rainfall at Safdarjung this month till 5:30 pm on July 30. While the city saw rainfall for 17 days in the month until now, no heavy spells of rainfall were recorded.&nbsp;

Delhi recorded 243.3 mm of rain in June, mostly due to the heavy rain spell on June 28, which recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall in a single day. The previous year, the city received 384.6 mm of rainfall in July.

According to the weather department, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut and some adjoining areas today. The maximum temperature will likely hover around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 26 degrees Celsius in the national capital.

On Monday, Delhi witnessed a change in the weather conditions with heavy showers. According to the weather officials, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, 1.3 notches higher than normal. The relative humidity was recorded at 68 per cent at 5:30 pm.

The Indian financial capital, Mumbai,&nbsp;woke up to water-logged streets after heavy rains lashed in the early hours of Thursday&nbsp;(Jul&nbsp;18).&nbsp;Over the last two days, the city witnessed&nbsp;light showers, however,&nbsp;this morning the rains&nbsp;intensified.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and Thane, but after the financial capital recorded a rainfall of 100 mm, IMD updated the alert to orange.&nbsp;

The data shared by the weather department for Wednesday and Thursday morning records 101 mm of rain at the Colaba Coastal Observatory and 50 mm of rainfall at the Santacruz station.

In light of this development, we have sounded an orange alert today while a yellow alert with a rainfall warning has been issued for tomorrow (Friday),” Sushma Nair, IMD Mumbai scientist, told The Indian Express.

The Colaba station recorded 50 mm of rain between 5:30 am (local time)&nbsp;and 8:30 am on Thursday.

The weather department has issued an orange alert for&nbsp;Kolhapur, Raigad, and other southern districts of Maharashtra, as heavy rainfall activity is expected.

The IMD has also issued a red alert for Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra from July 18 to 20 and an orange alert for the regions on July 21 and 22. Vidarbha has also been placed under a red alert&nbsp;for July 19 and an orange alert for July 18 and 20.

A red alert has also been issued for Chhattisgarh on July 19. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Odisha from July 18 to 20 and East Madhya Pradesh from July 20 and 21.

The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rain in Delhi for July 18. Thunderstorms are also possible in the Indian national capital. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum is expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius.

The Colaba station recorded 50 mm of rain between 5:30 am (local time) and 8:30 am on Thursday. Monsoon forecast for Maharashtra The weather department has issued an orange alert for Kolhapur, Raigad, and other southern districts of Maharashtra, as heavy rainfall activity is expected. The IMD has also issued a red alert for Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra from July 18 to 20 and an orange alert for the regions on July 21 and 22. Vidarbha has also been placed under a red alert for July 19 and an orange alert for July 18 and 20. An orange alert has been issued for Marathwada for July 20. Therefore, the states have been placed under a red alert. A red alert has also been issued for Chhattisgarh on July 19. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Odisha from July 18 to 20 and East Madhya Pradesh from July 20 and 21. The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rain in Delhi for July 18. Thunderstorms are also possible in the Indian national capital. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum is expected to be around 25 degrees Celsius. A travel influencer from Mumbai, Aanvi Kamdar fell to death from a 300-foot gorge, Kumbhe waterfall, near Raigad, Maharashtra. The 27-year-old was recording a reel video for her Instagram while on an outing with seven friends when she slipped and fell into the gorge.

The incident happened on July 16 around 10:30 am, when it was raining heavily. The authorities reached the spot and Kamdar was pulled up after a six-hour rescue&nbsp;operation by the&nbsp;Kolad rescue team, the Coast Guard and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff.

"As soon as we reached the spot, we realised that the girl has fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily. So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley," a rescuer told NDTV.

After Kamdar was brought up, she was rushed to the Sub District Hospital of Mangaon where she died during treatment&nbsp;due to serious injuries from the fall,&nbsp;said&nbsp;the officials.

After the tragic incident, the authorities have urged tourists and locals to avoid any risky behaviour&nbsp;that may put ones life&nbsp;in danger and enjoy the scenic beauties responsibly.

Kamdar, a resident of Mumbai, was a chartered accountant. She gained popularity on social media by making travel reels and expressing her love for exploring destinations, especially during the monsoon beauty. With a following of almost 2,60,000, she regularly posted scenic videos from her trips and outings on her Instagram account.

In another shocking incident in Maharashtra, a woman died last month making a reel while driving. She was not adept at driving and accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes while reversing and the&nbsp;car fell from the valley in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

This delay intensified the effects of a severe heatwave in northwest India.
