Many of our lead cast members, as well as key members of the creative &amp; writing team, are Tamilians. We are very cognizant of the sentiments of the Tamil people and Tamil culture and have nothing but the utmost love and respect towards our Tamil people," read the statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Comedy is one of the most diverse yet undefined genres in Hindi film industry, thus filmmakers find their tweaks in order to keep the genre alive and the film standing tall, in an overcrowded arena. ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhaari’’, tries hard to stay unique but falls short owing to a few unimaginative, or regular tropes of good-guy behaviour in a satirical world. The film also lacks commentary.</p>

<p>Set in the 90s, the film is the story of Suraj Singh Dhillon, a good Punjabi boy born and brought up in Mumbai with a thriving milk business. His path crosses with Madhu Mangal Rane and there begins a tom-and-jerry chase of revenge and one-upmanship between the twp, where families get involved and things go on a roller-coaster ride. On paper, this Abhishek Sharma directorial is interesting and witty, however, the execution is not at par. The film could’ve been made crisper by cutting off a few minutes here and there, and by letting go a few one-liners that don’t actually pack any punch.&nbsp;</p>

He is effortless on screen and probably the show-stopper in a film laced with seasoned actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Supriya Pilgaounkar, Vijay Raaz, Manoj and Seema Pahwa. In scenes between him and Bajpayee, Dosanj takes away the spotlight with his freshness and innocence. Bajpayee delivers what is expected of him, but appears a bit tired and worn-out in certain scenes. Fatima Sana Sheikh’s Tulsi Rane deserved more meat than what was offered. She is a lost cause in the tug-of-ego between her brother and her lover. For a talent like Sheikh, we expect better than just a half-hearted attempt to portray an ambitious woman looking to become Mumbai's first female DJ.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film does not have any larger issue in hand. It is paced fine and keeps you invested with the characters and their emotions. There’s certain nostalgia of the 90s, that’s refreshing. However these are the points that draw this film back as well because you see on screen the potential of something great, but that greatness is never achieved, making you feel a bit disappointed in the end. What could have been a great comic ride, turns into a passable pop-corn muncher. Nothing bad, but nothing great either. The film in all likelihood falls in a forgetful pit like numerous other romantic-comedies.&nbsp;<br />

<p>Critically acclaimed film ‘Tere Bin Laden’ completes 10 years today and with it director Abhishek Sharma celebrates his decade-long run in Bollywood industry. They say your first film is always close to your heart and thus Abhishek speaks&nbsp;to WION looking back at his trajectory of films on this special day&nbsp;and discusses what he aims to bring to the table with each movie, one step at a time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Its been a great journey. I learned a lot from each film,” says Abhishek of his years in the world of entertainment&nbsp;and adds, “Two of the five films I made have had a great impact on the audience (‘Tere Bin Laden’ &amp; ‘Parmanu’) and I am grateful for that. Even the other films which didn’t succeed as much have helped me to improve my craft as a director and so I’m thankful to those experiences as well.”</p>

<p>Over the course of a decade of being a part of the industry, Abhishek&nbsp;feels that “the industry has become much more brave in terms of content creation and cinema has evolved a lot”. He says, “We are surely in the second golden age of hindi film industry.”</p>

I learned a lot from each film,” says Abhishek of his years in the world of entertainment and adds, “Two of the five films I made have had a great impact on the audience (‘Tere Bin Laden’ & ‘Parmanu’) and I am grateful for that. Even the other films which didn’t succeed as much have helped me to improve my craft as a director and so I’m thankful to those experiences as well.” Over the course of a decade of being a part of the industry, Abhishek feels that “the industry has become much more brave in terms of content creation and cinema has evolved a lot”. So much so, if a good film is getting bad box office then forget about the industry as they will anyway criticise you whether you make a good film or a bad film, whether you give a good performance or a bad performance -- the mainstream critics and the trade analysts will jump on it and they will try to prove that it’s a bad film because the box office is not that great. Only 20 years back. The evidence is there, it's just that we ignore it. Now when people are getting angry, you are saying that their anger is unnecessary. You avoided it, you ignored it. Somewhere there anger means they are asking questions and we have to answer those questions as an industry. That system needs to be rectified. Who will rectify it? Me, as an established actor, as an experienced actor. Others who are well positioned. Others who are privileged. You can improve it by spotting talents, encouraging talent, by making their struggle shorter and admiring and respecting them. That's all it takes to make it a healthy and democratic industry. That's all it takes,” offering a solution that would help soothe the anger of an audience that is increasingly asking for younger talents to be appreciated and given a scope to perform. When asked if the viewers are also to be blamed for patronising a certain section of actors following a line of nepotism. Manoj said, “We will come to that definitely when the time is right. At this time, the right questions are being asked. I agree there is a lot of chaos and filth but if you want to find the questions you want to find the answers for yourself, then you will realise that the solution lies in us. The audience does that but it’s not their fault. Look at the manner in which good films are exhibited and distributed. They don't get the right number of theatres, they don't get the right number of shows, right timing of shows. When a small film starts picking up, it's taken off. Are you giving that audience a chance to go ahead and mentor those films? But yes you are right, a little bit of a problem also lies on that side. We will come to it. <p>Manoj Bajpayee and Jacqueline Fernandez are collaborating together for the first time for a Netflix film 'Mrs Serial Killer' and the OTT has finally released the trailer of their project.</p>

<p>Streaming from May 1 onwards, 'Mrs Serial Killer' as the name suggests is about a woman serial killer, plyed by Jacqueline so as to save her husband (played by Manoj) from a wrong accusation that leads him to jail. In one dialogue, she can be heard saying, "I will do anything to save my husband".</p>

<p>The trailer shows Jacqueline torturing women so thats he can prove a serial killer is on the loose so that Manoj can be freed as he is serving jail time for killing a woman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the trailer hints at a psychopath killer, the film seems to revolve around Jacqueline’s character who deals with the situation in her own way.</p>

<p>The film is directed by Shirish Kunder&nbsp;and is produced by Farah Khan.&nbsp;Sharing the trailer, Farah wrote “Even psychopaths have emotions... then again, MAYBE NOT!”</p>

Supreme Court refuses to stay release of Aiyaary

<p>Every director more or less sticks to the same genre after he or she delivers a hit based on it. We associate stories of love and self-discovery to Imtiaz Ali, we associate Rajkumar Hirani to films that deliver social messages and similarly we associate Neeraj Pandey to films that speak about the angst of the common man who always is at the receiving end because of a corrupt system. Barring <em>MS Dhoni</em>, of course.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Pandey&#39;s first,<em> A Wednesday</em>, spoke about how a common man can be pushed to his limits due to an ignorant system. His <em>Special 26</em> was a quirky heist film which highlighted that slacked police force, his <em>Baby</em> and <em>Naam Shabana </em>(which he wrote and produced) were about special agents who would put their life at stake for the sake of the country. <em>Aiyaary</em> can perhaps be called an extension of that same story. A film where everyone is brisk walking to some destination or the other yet making the whole process look like an ordeal.</p>

<p>With a half-baked plot&nbsp;that establishes itself well into the second half, <em>Aiyaary</em> is about a special agent gone rogue. Major Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra) is basically disillusioned with the system and decides to sell top secrets of the army to an arms dealer. Jai is not doing this for the money or because he wants to seek revenge from the army but because he is just tired of how the corrupt are ruling the nation. His&nbsp;mentor, &nbsp;Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) hurt and angry at being deceived by his brightest student, then takes it upon himself to hunt Jai down- who has fleed the country with his girlfriend, Sonya, a hacker by profession (Rakul Preet Singh). &nbsp;The film also briefly touches upon the infamous Adarsh Housing Society Scam-perhaps the most comprehensive subplot in the entire film and makes a mish-mash story of a bright officer hell-bent on exposing the corruption in the country thereby putting his mentor, team maters and Army chief&#39;s position at stake.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The film&#39;s narrative is non-linear. With multiple flashbacks- and flashbacks within flashbacks- the narrative appears too complicated to&nbsp;fully concentrate on. Pandey perhaps overestimates the viewer&#39;s intelligence and let them assume a lot of things for the longest time. The only thing that one knows in the first twenty odd minutes into the film is that the Army is looking for two of its missing officers. Pandey does not bother in putting a timeline in most scenes and often breaks into flashbacks making the entire film look haphazard. At the interval, there is suddenly a shot of Naseeruddin Shah sitting on a bed and laughing while watching television and you wonder if he is actually laughing at you for agreeing to sit through the ordeal for so long. Because Shah&#39;s inclusion in the film at that point is out of the blue.&nbsp;</p>

There&#39;s a scene where Sidharth and Rakul&#39;s character meet for the first time, Rakul hacks into Sidharth&#39;s password protected laptop and buys herself things with his card details from a shopping portal. And the man just smiles at her and says &#39;Impressive&#39;. Only if it was that easy to impress suitors in real life!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Manoj Bajpayee tries hard to make the film and his character look real and convincing but an actor of his caliber deserves a properly written, coherent script which <em>Aiyaary</em> lacks. Malhotra is average in his role. Kumud Mishra, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher are all wasted. Perhaps the brightest spark is Naseeruddin Shah, who gets the best scene in the film - but Shah comes in only the end and by then&nbsp;you may have gone into a deep slumber and you may miss the scene completely.</p>

<p><em>Aiyaary</em> starring Manoj Bajpayee and Siddharth Malhotra as Army officials finally got its censor certificate on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The good news was shared by director Neeraj Pandey followed by movie&#39;s official Twitter handle on February 6.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There was news of postponing the release of the film as CBFC had not given its makers the censor approval certificate. Reports suggested that&nbsp;Ministry of Defense had some<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-aiyaary-yet-to-get-clearance-from-censor-board-siddharth-malhotra-says-film-will-release-on-time-31835" target="_blank"> issues </a>with the portrayal of the Army in the film.</p>

<p>Post review of the film by the CBFC, Neeraj Pandey&#39;s Aiyaary had held a screening of their film for the Ministry of Defense on Saturday evening as instructed by the CBFC.&nbsp;</p>

'Aiyaary' gets censor certificate, film's cast rejoices

<p>Makers of <em>Aiyaary</em> may have announced the film&#39;s release date as February 9th but the film is yet to get a censor certificate. The film has been helmed by Neeraj Pandey and features Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra, Anup[am Kher and Rakulpreet Singh in the lead.&nbsp;<br />

According to reports, since the movie is set against the army backdrop, the Defence Ministry wants to review the film. This comes after Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s<em> Padmaavat </em>was viewed by a special panel as part of the censor board`s certification process.</p>

<p>While the Ministry is yet to view the film, and Censor board is yet to give its clearance, the film&#39;s leading man Sidharth Malhotra is hopeful that it will release on time.&nbsp;<br />

Sometimes, it goes unnoticed and as an average Indian, we don&rsquo;t even realise what they have to go through every day. Because of my background, I have great respect for everyone &mdash; be it the Border Security Force (BSF), the Army, the Navy or the Air Force. I&rsquo;m happy I play a character like that today.&rdquo;</p>

Co-starring Jimmy Shergill and Ravi Kishan, the film will have Kashyap&#39;s signature style of drama and violence with a powerful storyline. Set to release on January 12th.</p>

The film also features Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor and has been produced by Twinkle Khanna. Padman will be releasing on 26th January.</p>

<p><strong>Hichki:</strong> Rani Mukerji&#39;s first film post the birth of her daughter Adira has her playing a teacher suffering from Tourette&rsquo;s Syndrome, a neuropsychiatric disorder that manifests itself in motor or vocal tics. The film traces her journey as a teacher and how she overcomes the problem as well as wins over a difficult set of pupils. Directed by Sidharth P Malhotra, the film should serve as a treat for Rani Mukerji fans as she gets to showcase her acting prowess in a difficult, challenging character. The film releases on 23 February.</p>

<p><strong>Parmanu:</strong> We haven&#39;t seen John Abraham in a film for a long time. The actor-producer is all set to return on the big screen with a film called<em> Parmanu: The Story Of </em><em>Pokhran</em>. Co-starring Diana Penty, the film is about based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, it will release on 23 February.&nbsp;</p>

The first three months are packed with some very interesting films

2017 saw the success of many middle-of-the-road films. From Hindi Medium to Newton, filmmakers gave audience stories that were thought provoking. The big budget masala potboilers were rejected by the audience as people lauded smaller films. The new year will see Bollywood churning out some highly anticipated films along with small budget films. The first three months are packed with some very interesting films. From Rani Mukerji's comeback in Hichki to Akshay Kumar turning a do-gooder in Padman - there is much to look forward to from Bollywood. Apart from the big names, there are also films like Mukkabaaz, Pari, Parmanu which will try to strike a chord with the audience. And of course, the beginning of 2018 will finally witness the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand Padmavat. So, here's our list of 11 films to look forward to in the first quarter of 2018 Kaalakaandi: There is something about Saif Ali Khan that always appeals. The Nawab hasn't delivered a hit for a long time but continues to generate curiosity thanks to his unique choices in films. After playing the main protagonist in last year's Chef, Khan will be seen in a dark comedy called Kaalakaandi which has an ensemble cast. Directed by Akshat Verma, the film will release on January 12th. Mukkabaaz: Anurag Kashyap casts the underrated Vineet Singh in the titular role in his new film Mukkabaaz. Set in Uttar Pradesh, the story is of a lower caste boxer who dares to fall in love with an upper caste girl. Co-starring Jimmy Shergill and Ravi Kishan, the film will have Kashyap's signature style of drama and violence with a powerful storyline. Set to release on January 12th. Padman: Akshay Kumar turns a superhero of sorts as he becomes a crusader for women in R Balki's Padman. Based on a real-life incident, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing a do-gooder who propagates the importance of menstrual hygiene and creates low-cost sanitary napkins in the film. The film also features Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor and has been produced by Twinkle Khanna. Padman will be releasing on 26th January. Aiyaary- Neeraj Pandey's film on treason will be clashing with the filmmaker's favourite actor Akshay Kumar's film. Set to release on 26th January, the film will have Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee playing members of the special task force. Padmavat: After protests, bans, cuts in scenes and a name change, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavat will finally see the light of the day. While the release date has not yet been fixed, but sources state that the film will release in mid-February. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh- it is 'fictional'account on Chittor's Rani Padmini. Since its a Bhansali film, expect the scale to be grand.
