Sanjoy Deepak Rao, a high-profile Maoist figure, who held the position of Central Committee Member within the CPI (Maoist) has been apprehended by intelligence agencies in India's southern state of Telangana.

Telangana Intelligence Department officials, in coordination with Cyberabad Police, apprehended Rao near Malaysian Township in Kukatpally on a Friday morning.

The Hindu reports that while apprehending the Maoist figure, law enforcement also confiscated a revolver containing six live rounds, a laptop, and various items, alongside a sum of ₹47,250 (around $568) in cash from Rao.

Anjani Kumar, the Director-General of Police (DGP) of&nbsp;the state, confirmed that the Telangana state's Intelligence Bureau had been monitoring Rao, a prominent target, for a long time.

The Government of Maharashtra had previously offered a ₹25 lakh (around $30,066) cash reward for information leading to his arrest.&nbsp;

Rao had arrived in Hyderabad approximately four days before his arrest, intending to travel to Maad, Chhattisgarh, for a meeting. Based on specific intelligence, Cyberabad Police intercepted and detained him on Friday morning.

As per the police, "He has been planning to go to Maad, Chhattisgarh to attend a meeting and to meet Baswaraj, General Secretary, CPI Maoist, Ganapathi, CCM, etc., leaders. Ranjith &nbsp;Shankaran, Professor of Mahindra Tech University who resides in Malaysian township in Kukatpally, and B. Ajith Kumar, Film Editor from Madhapur, are his friends from college."

The authorities plan to take Rao into police custody for interrogation to ascertain his involvement in unlawful activities.

"He will be taken to police custody and interrogated for eliciting his involvement in various unlawful activities, his area of operation and his links with the activists in front and mass organisations in Telangana. He is wanted by police of Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). The Government of Maharashtra had declared ₹25 lakh cash reward for the informant leading to his apprehension. His arrest will be a serious blow to the proscribed Maoist Terrorist Organisation," said Kumar.

<h2>Who is Sanjoy Deepak Rao?</h2>

"A native of Shivagandha Nagar of Ambernath East district of Thane, Maharashtra, Rao got attracted towards the Left Wing Extremist ideology having been influenced by his father, who was a strong Communist trade union leader," said Kumar.

Reportedly, while pursuing his B. Tech degree in Jammu and Kashmir in 1983, Rao and some friends expressed support for the separatist movement in Kashmir. Upon his return from J&amp;K, he initially engaged with the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI ML) Central Reorganisation Committee (CRC) group and the CPI ML Rawoof group.

In 1999, Rao, along with Konath Muralidharan (known as Ajith), Ex-CCM, established the CPI ML Naxalbari Group. Rao took charge of the Maharashtra State CPI ML Naxalbari group, while Muralidharan became the All India Secretary.

India has taken a significant step in its preparedness to combat the dangerous Nipah virus by procuring an additional 20 doses of monoclonal antibodies from Australia.&nbsp;

On Friday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Director General Rajeev Bahl said: "We got some doses of monoclonal antibody from Australia in 2018. Currently, the doses are available for only 10 patients."

<h2>Why is this important?</h2>

These antibodies, as per PTI,&nbsp;are vital for the treatment of Nipah virus infections, a disease with a high mortality rate.&nbsp;Monoclonal antibodies are synthetic proteins that mimic the immune system's ability to fight harmful pathogens.

"Twenty more doses are being procured. But the medicine needs to be given during the early stage of the infection," said Bahl, adding that it can only given as compassionate use medicine.

He also said that no one so far has been administered the medicine in India.

<h2>Nipah and high mortality</h2>

The ICMR DG also said that the "Mortality among those infected with Nipah virus is very high - between 40 to 70 per cent as compared to that of Covid, which was around 2-3 per cent."

The decision to acquire these antibodies is a proactive measure following recent Nipah virus outbreaks in various regions of India, including Kerala.&nbsp;

When asked about why cases keep surfacing in Kerala, Bahl said: "We do not know. In 2018, we found the outbreak in Kerala was related to bats. We are not sure how the infection passed from bats to humans. The link couldn't be established. Again, we are trying to find out this time. It always happens in the rainy season."

He said that globally, monoclonal antibodies have been used to successfully treat 14 patients infected with the Nipah virus outside India.

"Only Phase 1 trial to establish the safety of the medicine has been done outside. Efficacy trials have not been done. It can only given as compassionate use medicine," he said.

A tragic incident unfolded on Friday as a service elevator, part of an ongoing construction project in India's National Capital Region (NCR) experienced a horrifying free fall, resulting in the death of four labourers, according to local authorities.

The incident, as per a PTI report, happened in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida West, also known as Noida Extension.

In addition to the four deceased, five labourers sustained severe injuries and were transported to the district hospital for urgent medical attention, said the police in a statement.

<h2>How it happened</h2>

The harrowing incident, as per reports, took place at around 8:30 am IST (3:00 am GMT) at the construction site of Amrapali Dream Valley Society, a project that had long been stalled but is now being completed by the state-run NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation).

Conveying his condolences, District Magistrate Manish Verma confirmed the tragic loss of lives and said: "Four workers died in the incident while five others were hospitalised in a critical condition."

Verma, who has visited the injured and conducted an onsite inspection, has pledged a thorough investigation and has said anyone found guilty would be accountable for their actions.

Talking to PTI, he said "We will recommend financial compensation for the victims as per the law and guidelines of the Labour Code. The matter is under investigation as of now."

<h2>Police identify the victims</h2>

The four workers who lost their lives have been identified as Ishtaq Ali (23), hailing from Bihar's Balrampur district; Arun Tanti Mandal (40) from Bihar's Banka; Vipot Mandal (45) from Bihar's Katihar; and Aris Khan (22) from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district.&nbsp;

Officials from the construction company are yet to release a statement.

<h2>Uttar Pradesh's missing regulations</h2>

This incident follows another tragedy in which a 72-year-old woman met a similar fate due to a malfunctioning elevator in a group housing society in Noida. It is suspected that she died from a possible heart attack.

Following the elderly woman's tragic demise, UP Power Minister A K Sharma informed the state assembly on August 10 that the process of enacting the Lift and Escalator Act in the state was underway.

PTI reports that despite calls from residents of Noida and Greater Noida for such regulations, Uttar Pradesh currently lacks specific regulations governing elevators' installation, maintenance, or usage.

Additionally, security forces are said to be setting up more checkpoints to detain women who do not comply with the dress code, those planning to protest on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.

These stricter regulations, as per the Guardian, coincide with increased patrolling by Iran's so-called "morality police" and further "gender segregation" in various public spaces, including universities, hospitals, parks, and workplaces.&nbsp;

If they endorse the bill, it would return to parliament and could come into effect as early as October, said HRA.

PM Modi gets a rousing welcome at BJP headquarters after successful G20 Summit

India and Russia are considering exploring the possibility&nbsp;of using alternative transport routes, including the Northern Sea Route and Eastern Maritime Corridor (EMC), to enhance maritime cooperation.

In a statement, India's Ports, Shipping, and Waterways minister, Sarbananda Sonowal said that the decision was reached during a meeting with Moscow's Development of the Far East and Arctic minister, AO Chekunkov, in Vladivostok, Russia.

In addition to the exploration of new trade routes, the two nations agreed to train Indian seafarers in polar and arctic waters at the Russian Maritime Training Institute. The institute, as per the Reuters report, offers advanced simulator facilities.

Furthermore, both India and Russia expressed their commitment to strengthening their strategic cooperation in various sectors, emphasising their enduring partnership.&nbsp;

As per a statement from India's shipping ministry, Sonowal extended an invitation to an Indo-Russian workshop on the Eastern Maritime Corridor (EMC).

This corridor is projected to significantly reduce the transit time between Indian and Russian ports in the Far East Region, potentially by up to 40 per cent, from the current 40 days to 24 days.

Despite the more than year-long, ongoing war Russia has waged on its neighbour Ukraine, India has maintained a close relationship with Russia.&nbsp;

As per reports,&nbsp;trade between the two nations has reached record-high levels, and Indian imports of Russian oil have contributed significantly to this increase.

For passengers travelling by Japan's flagship carrier, their vacations can now include the option to rent a selection of clothes. As per a BBC report, they can choose various options, including clothing type, season, style, and pickup and return dates.&nbsp;

The service, called 'Any Wear, Anywhere,' started in July of this year and will run till August 2024.

Miho Moriya, who works for Sumitomo, the Japanese company handling reservations, deliveries, and laundering, came up with the idea. She says that what inspired her to come with this was her own dread about luggage.

"I love travelling and I've been to many foreign countries, but I've always dreaded dragging around luggage or doing laundry abroad," she said.

Moriya says it took "many tries" to find an airline that would support her idea, and once it got approved, the implementation was pushed back due to the pandemic. Over time, she hopes to expand this service to other airlines within the OneWorld Alliance and eventually worldwide, contributing to sustainable travel practices.

The stricter dress code regulations which have been described by the United Nations as “gender apartheid” propose harsh sentences that are comparable to those imposed on murderers and drug traffickers.

As per the Guardian, under these proposed women found in violation of the mandatory Hijab law would face harsh and severe penalties, such as more than 60 lashes, heavy fines, and lengthy prison sentences.&nbsp;

Hossein Raeesi, an Iranian human rights lawyer, says, “That's ridiculous to even think about.”

The draft law also warns businesses of possible closure and other serious consequences if they serve women with “improper dress code.”

A group of experts appointed by the UN Human Rights Council see this as an apparent attempt at “suppressing women and girls into total submission,” and have labelled the draft law “gender apartheid”.

<h2>The noose is tightening, allege rights activists</h2>

Security and women's rights activists as per The Guardian have alleged that Iranian authorities are investing in smart cameras with facial recognition technology. These cameras can reportedly also alert authorities of protests and are capable of sending alerts when large gatherings occur.&nbsp;

Additionally, as per Kurdish residents of Amini's home town, Saqqez, security forces are setting up more checkpoints to detain women who do not comply with the dress code. They are also seeking to use these checkpoints to detain Iranians who are planning on protesting on the anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.

Furthermore, in Iran there has been increased patrolling by Iran's so-called “morality police” and further “gender segregation” in various public spaces, including universities, hospitals, parks, and workplaces.&nbsp;

Recently, the Mojhaye Khoroushan water park — located on the outskirts of Iran's northeastern holy city of Mashhad, where the eighth Imam of Shiite Islam's shrine is also situated — was shut down after reportedly allowing women to visit the place without the mandatory headscarf.

<h2>What the Iranian women think</h2>

Iranian women feel like the government wants to “erase women from society.”&nbsp;

“With the new law, the government is telling us women that we will go to prison for up to 10 years if we don't wear a hijab. What next? A death penalty for defying the new hijab law?,” said an Iranian journalist while talking to the Guardian.

Another Iranian woman, a Tehran-based finance student, said: “The Islamic Republic has taken a cue from the Taliban to slowly ban us from public places. They want to erase women from society.”

<h2>Will the draft law be passed?</h2>

As per an organisation called Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA), the new law is under review by Iran's Guardian Council — a powerful body responsible for vetting legislation and overseeing elections.&nbsp;

If they endorse the bill, it would return to parliament and could come into effect as early as October, said HRA.

Google denies these allegations and maintains that it did not violate&nbsp;the US antitrust law. In a court filing in January, Google said its browser agreements were "legitimate competition" and not "illicit exclusion."

It said these arguments did not prevent Google rival firms from developing their own rival search engines.&nbsp;

Google also said that the contracts did not stop rival companies like Mozilla and Apple from promoting their search engines.

In a blog post, as reported by AFP, Kent Walker, Google president of global affairs, said: "In sum, people don't use Google because they have to — they use it because they want to."

As per Reuters, it is not illegal for a business to enter into exclusive arrangements with specific customers. In fact, such deals are a common business practice, and they rarely raise concerns or regulatory scrutiny, especially when a company lacks significant market power that could substantially affect competition.

However, exclusive deals can become illegal under antitrust laws if a company is considered having significant market power and uses these exclusive arrangements to prevent competitors from entering the market.&nbsp;

In such cases, the company must demonstrate that any restrictions on competition result are beneficial to its consumers.

The US antitrust law places the burden of proof in the upcoming trial on the Justice Department. It will have to prove that Google's business deals have harmed competition.&nbsp;

After that, Google will have the opportunity to argue at the non-jury trial that these deals actually benefit consumers. In other words, they may argue that the positive impact on consumers outweighs any negative effects on competition.

<h2>How long will the trial last?</h2>

Over a period of roughly 10 weeks, Judge Amit P Mehta will hear more than 100 witness testimonies and decide whether the case brought by the US Department of Justice has any merit or not.

His ruling, as per AFP, is expected "many months" after the roughly three months of expected hearings.

As per the news agency, whether Judge Mehta rules on Google's favour or the DoJ's, the ruling will certainly be appealed, so the case may drag on for years.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams in a statement released late Friday said: "We hope these new identifications can bring some measure of comfort to the families of these victims, and the ongoing efforts by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner attest to the city’s unwavering commitment to reunite all the World Trade Center victims with their loved ones."

We have made a list of those involved and recently in Doda district, we have taken strict action against those and seized their properties and have been listed among fugitives,'' said Dilbag Singh, the Director-General of J&amp;K Police.

According to government officials, the Inspector-General of Registrations and Revenue has already received a list of around 4,200 terrorists living in PoK for the last three decades.

The revenue department would most likely be seizing the properties and also making sure that these properties are neither sold nor bought by anyone. Jammu and Kashmir Police in recent times have also attached properties of those who are found guilty of wilfully providing shelter to the terrorists.

In a recent statement, the LG of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha also appealed to the locals of Kashmir Valley to not support or provide shelter to terrorists.

Ethiopia believes that the GERD will double its electricity production, which is crucial for the nation where nearly half of the 127-million population lacks access to electricity, BBC reported.

It plans on generating more than 6,000 MW at the GERD dam that is situated approximately 30 kilometres from Ethiopia's border with Sudan.

However, ever since its launch, the dam has been a source of contention, primarily due to concerns about its potential impact on the downstream countries, particularly Egypt and Sudan.&nbsp;

<h2>Cause for dispute</h2>

Earlier,&nbsp;Egypt and Sudan called for common rules for the dam's operation to address their fears of water shortages. They have also expressed fear that Ethiopia's energy demands may increase, further exacerbating water shortages.

Egypt's foreign ministry has criticised Ethiopia's reservoir filling. In a statement on Facebook, it said that the "unilateral" filling of the reservoir was "illegal" and a violation of a 2015 declaration of principles signed by the three nations.&nbsp;

"The declaration of principles stipulates the necessity of the three countries reaching an agreement on the rules for filling and operating the Gerd before commencing the filling process," said Egypt's foreign ministry in its statement.

"Ethiopia's unilateral measures are considered a disregard for the interests and rights of the downstream countries and their water security, as guaranteed by principles of international law."

Masson told HT that the idea behind buying a plot on the Moon was linked to humanity's inherent curiosity about what lies out there.

This lunar property was purchased from The Lunar Registry in New York City and was officially certified on August 25, according to Masson.

He said that the Moon represents a symbol of hope for the future and could also serve as a psychological escape hatch for humans facing the challenges of climate change.

The Indian space agency on Thursday (August 31st) released a new video of Chandrayaan-3's rover 'Pragyan' being rotated on the lunar surface.

Pragyan was rotated remotely from the command centre in India's Bengaluru. This was done in search of a route that avoids craters and rocks on the moon's surface.

<h2>What is the Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA)?</h2>

The Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) is one of the payloads onboard the Chandrayaan-3 lander called Vikram.

As per ISRO, "ILSA comprises a cluster of six high-sensitivity accelerometers, which are indigenously fabricated using the Silicon Micromachining process. The core sensing element consists of a spring-mass system with comb-structured electrodes. External vibrations lead to a deflection of the spring, resulting in a change in capacitance which is converted into voltage."

Chandrayaan-3: ‘Pragyan’ completes 7 days on moon, ISRO chief says ‘everything is working fine’

The state of Georgia in the United States&nbsp;has officially designated October as ‘Hindu Heritage Month’ to recognise and celebrate the contributions of the 'vibrant' Hindu-American community within the state.&nbsp;

As per news agency PTI, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a proclamation declaring October as the month to celebrate 'Hindu heritage'. The proclamation said that the celebration will focus on Hindu heritage's culture and spiritual traditions rooted in India.

<h2>Significant contributions</h2>

The proclamation dated August 23 said: "The vibrant Hindu American community has contributed tremendously to the vitality of the State of Georgia by enriching the lives of its citizens."

Earlier this year, the state's Assembly had passed a resolution condemning Hinduphobia. The resolution made Georgia the first American state to take legislative action against anti-Hindu bigotry.&nbsp;

Hindu advocacy group, Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), welcomed Georgia's move and expressed gratitude to Governor Kemp for acknowledging and recognising the Hindu community's contributions to the many sectors.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the group said: "This was made possible by the untiring dedication of our friends at the Hindus of Georgia PAC. Hinduism has contributed greatly to the cultural milieu of America."

However, the group as per PTI, the group also expressed concern over the recent anti-caste discrimination bill passed by the California State Assembly.&nbsp;

"It is gratifying to see Georgia recognise the contribution of Hindu-Americans and Hinduism at the same time that California is targeting us with #SB403," said CoHNA on X.

Hindu Heritage Month, according to the Hindu American Foundation, is celebrated globally to highlight Hinduism as a tradition and its contributions to human society. Hinduism is the third-largest religion globally with around one billion devotees, there are approximately three million Hindus residing in the United States.

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which is a group of 18 independent human rights experts, has expressed dissatisfaction with the dated agreement.

The group of experts whose view are not binding said that the agreement has not done enough to address the disparities in vaccine access.

<h2>Vaccine disparity</h2>

According to the latest data from the World Health Organization (WHO), only 32 per cent of people around the globe have received at least one booster or additional vaccine dose.

It also states that in some developing countries such as Gabon, Papua New Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar, this figure remains at less than one per cent.

The UN committee remarked that the rich nations' "persistent refusal" to waive intellectual property rights "raises concerns" about their obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

AFP reports that the committee further emphasised that&nbsp;"COVID-19 remains a serious public health issue with devastating negative impacts", which has a disproportionate "devastating" impact on people of African or Asian descent, ethnic minorities, Roma communities, and Indigenous peoples.

<h2>Remedies the committee suggested</h2>

The committee suggests that these inequalities could be "significantly mitigated" by sharing access to intellectual property rights for life-saving vaccines, treatments, and technologies, which are "currently reserved by a few countries in the global North".

It further urged State parties to prioritise human rights concerns and to include robust human rights safeguards, including establishing a mechanism that makes it obligatory for governments to temporarily suspend intellectual property rights during health crises.

It called upon "States parties in the global North to provide resources to enable poorer States to satisfy the core medical capacities that they are now expected to have in place under the International Health Regulations and to enable vaccines, relevant medicines and other necessary equipment and supplies to be available to all."

We are alarmed that he has recently been targeted by what we believe to be continuous judicial harassment."

Global figures have also called for the upcoming elections in Bangladesh —&nbsp;expected in early January — to be credible. The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party had earlier expressed concerns about potential election rigging and demanded that Hasina step down to allow a caretaker government to oversee the voting, a demand Hasina has rejected.

Responding to the open letter, Bangladesh Prime Minister Hasina said that she would welcome international experts and lawyers to assess the legal proceedings and examine documents related to the charges against Yunus.&nbsp;

She suggested that this would reveal additional information related to the case.

<h2>Charges against the Nobel laureate</h2>

Yunus founded Grameen Bank in 1983, an institution that provides small loans to entrepreneurs who typically do not qualify for traditional bank loans.&nbsp;

The bank's success in alleviating poverty as per news agency AP served as a model for micro-financing initiatives globally.

Yunus faced multiple charges, including allegedly receiving money without government permission, violation of labour laws, and embezzlement of funds from Grameen Telecom, a company he created. Defence lawyers as per AP have described some of the cases as harassment and vowed to contest the allegations.

Since then, the platform has already added a new hiring tool to its arsenal; verified businesses can now post jobs to their profiles.

Furthermore, X's payment branch Twitter Payments LLC has been granted a "crucial" currency transmitter licence from the US state of Rhode Island. This licence, as per cryptocurrency website CoinWire, allows X to "engage in cryptocurrency-related activities" including exchanges, wallets, and payment processing.&nbsp;

With this licence, X can "securely store, transfer, and facilitate the exchange of digital assets on behalf of its users," it added.&nbsp;

Donald Trump's former lawyer Rudy Giuliani has been issued a default judgment and ordered to pay sanctions of nearly $133,000 in a defamation and civil conspiracy lawsuit brought by two Georgia election workers.&nbsp;

The workers, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea'&nbsp;ArShaye Moss, claimed that Giuliani had defamed them by alleging the mishandling of ballots in the 2020 presidential election.

<h2>Penalty for 'wilful misconduct'</h2>

US District Judge Beryl Howell imposed the 'default' judgment and monetary penalty after Giuliani repeatedly failed to comply with orders to turn over electronically stored documents and evidence sought by the two election workers' lawyers.

CNBC reports that Judge Howell criticised Giuliani for "wilful... misconduct" and "slippery" statements, failing to fulfil his obligations under the legal proceedings known as discovery.&nbsp;

In her 57-page opinion, the Judge said: "The bottom line is that Giuliani has refused to comply with his discovery obligations and thwarted plaintiffs Ruby Freeman and Wandrea' ArShaye Moss’s procedural rights to obtain any meaningful discovery in this case."

The judge's ruling emphasised Giuliani's failure to comply with discovery requests and ordered him to personally pay the plaintiffs $89,172.50 as reimbursement for their attorneys' fees and costs associated with their motion to compel evidence. Additionally, two of Giuliani's companies were ordered to pay the plaintiffs $43,684 for the same conduct.

She has also ordered Giuliani and the plaintiffs' lawyers to propose three trial dates in the US District Court in Washington, DC, to determine the amount of compensatory and punitive damages he should pay due to the&nbsp;judgment.

Howell's ruling also referred to Giuliani's recent criminal indictment in Georgia related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.

As per the report released on Monday (August 28) only one-third of South Koreans had a positive perception about marriage. The trend, which has drastically accelerated over the past decade, spells demographic trouble for the already ageing nation.

<h2>Marriage, a thing of past?</h2>

The report by Statistics Korea found that only 36.4 per cent of South Koreans, between the ages of 19 and 34, wanted to get married. This is down from 56.5 per cent in 2012.

As per the report, the reason behind these plummeting numbers&nbsp;includes economic concerns over the rising costs of living and unaffordable housing.

Respondents who were polled last year also said that one reason they are not getting married is because they do not have enough money for marriage. Some reported feeling that marriage is simply not necessary.

<h2>How the genders responded?</h2>

Surprisingly, among those who had a positive perception towards marriage, a majority were men, and only 28 per cent of women responded positively.

In South Korea, there is even a word for women who chose to forego marriage, and remain single: "bihon".

According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the reason more women are deciding to stay single could be because of their advancement in education and the workplace. This means that compared to earlier generations, the "opportunity cost of marriage" is higher for today's women.

Given the persistent gender stereotypes, getting married or having children might require women to make concessions concerning their careers or education, reports the OECD. This is especially true because of the challenges women face in returning to work after giving birth.

<h2>Child-free life</h2>

It's not just marriage, more and more people, as per the Statistics Korea report, are now dismissive towards childbirth. Since 2018, the number of those who choose to remain child-free is rising. More than half the people surveyed last year reportedly said they don't see the need to have a child.

The trend is a cause of concern for South Korea, where last year the fertility rate fell to a record low of 0.78. As per the OECD, 2.1 is the rate needed for a stable population, South Korea's fertility rate is the lowest in the world.&nbsp;

A news crew from Spanish-language station Univision Chicago was reporting in Chicago’s West Town neighbourhood.&nbsp;

The reporter and a cameraperson were filming a story on robberies in the neighbourhood when three masked men brandishing firearms robbed them. The robbers took the news crew's television camera and other personal items.

Talking to Chicago Tribune, Luis Godinez, vice president of news at Univision Chicago, said: "They were approached with guns and robbed. Mainly it was personal items, and they took a camera".

As per Godinez, the news crew were covering a story about robberies in the neighbourhood. The story was supposed to air early on the morning news. However, the footage they had shot on robberies in West Town was also stolen along with the camera, and it never made it on-air.

<h2>What the police said</h2>

Chicago police said that the victims, 28-year-old man and 42-year-old man were outside when three masked men drove up to them in a grey sedan and a black SUV. After robbing the news crew, the robbers fled in their vehicles.

Police are yet to arrest anyone over the robbery. No injuries were reported.

To protect the privacy of the news crew, their names haven't been disclosed, said Godinez, adding: "They're OK, and we’re working on it together as a team."

<h2>Second TV crew robbery in a month</h2>

As per news agency AP, this was the second such robbery this month. Previously, on August 8th, a WLS-TV photographer was assaulted and robbed while covering a weekday afternoon news conference on Chicago's West Side.

National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians Local 41, which represents Chicago-based TV photographers, has issued a warning.&nbsp;

Raza Siddiqui, president of the union local, "Our news photographers and reporters provide a very important public service in keeping our community informed. We are committed to making sure that their safety comes first." He also told Chicago Sun-Times that some union affiliated news stations are planning to take additional safety steps like assigning security to some TV crews.

Steve Scalise, the second-ranking Republican in the US House of Representatives, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.&nbsp;

The 57-year-old congressman was elected to the US Congress in 2008. Over the years, he steadily climbed the ranks of Republican leadership.&nbsp;

Currently, he is serving as the right-hand man to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and&nbsp;plays a pivotal role in keeping the chamber's conservative majority in line.

The second trial is scheduled for October in a Florida state court. This one, also from 2019, caused Stephen Banner's Model 3 to drive under an 18-wheeler big rig truck, which sheared off the Tesla's roof and killed the owner.&nbsp;

<h2>What Tesla has to say</h2>

Tesla has repeatedly denied liability in both accidents and has blamed driver error. Musk's company says that "there are no self-driving cars on the road today," and claims that the Autopilot feature is safe when monitored by humans. In the Lee case, it also claimed that the driver (Lee) was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Reuters reports that these civil proceedings will probably reveal fresh evidence about what Musk and Tesla knew about the Autopilot feature's capabilities and deficiencies.

Bryant Walker Smith, a law professor at the University of South Carolina, says that "a big loss for Tesla, especially with a big damages award" could "dramatically shape the narrative going forward."

The campaign was launched after a tragic incident in August 2006, where a drunk driver claimed the lives of three children on a local bridge. This latest edition of the campaign took place at the Chikushino Automobile School in Chikushino City on August 22 and had 10 participants, including a 77-year-old.&nbsp;

<h2>How it went</h2>

Drivers were first evaluated on their reflexes and driving skills while sober. They were then provided enough alcohol to exceed the legal limit and given a driving course to complete.

Talking to CNN, a police spokesperson revealed that each participant had a driving instructor with them throughout the exercise, even riding with them in their respective vehicles.

Conducted within the confines of the driving school premises, the "hands-on event" allowed "drivers to experience for themselves the difference between driving before and after drinking and to get a sense of how dangerous drink-driving can be," said the spokesperson.

<h2>The results</h2>

Many participants, as per the spokesperson, acknowledged that the experience highlighted how they had been "overconfident" about their ability to drive under the influence of alcohol. They also realised that they made more errors than they thought they would. A few participants also noticed that their ability to control the vehicle was affected.

<h2>Japan and alcohol consumption</h2>

Japan maintains relatively low alcohol consumption levels, found a 2021 study from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).&nbsp;

The nation witnessed a further decline in its alcohol consumption during the pandemic due to restrictions affecting the bar and other alcohol-selling places.

Japanese people consume an average of 8 litres per capita alcohol annually, this is equivalent to about 1.6 bottles of wine or 3 litres of beer per week per person.

There's nothing more irritating than noisy, crying children while travelling on a flight. Stuck for hours in the air, all you can do is put on earplugs that do little to dissipate the noise. For people&nbsp;who hate this, a Turkish-Dutch airline is set to introduce an “only adult” zone.

The service for now will be introduced on Turkish-Dutch Corendon Airlines flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao starting November&nbsp;3.&nbsp;

<h2>Only adults</h2>

“This zone on the plane is intended for travellers travelling without children and for business travellers who want to work in a quiet environment,” said the airline in a statement.

As per the company's press release, the 'Only Adult' section is set up in the front section of the aircraft and will have 102 seats. Nine seats will be XL with extra legroom and 93 will be standard seats.&nbsp;

The quiet section will be separated from the rest of the aeroplane “by means of walls and curtains, creating a shielded environment that contributes to a calm and relaxed flight.”

Passengers aged 16 or more can travel in this section.

<h2>How much will it cost?</h2>

Passengers in the “only adult” zone will have to cough up some extra charges for the noiseless journeys.&nbsp;

As per the airline, a seat reservation in the 'Only Adult' aeroplane section will cost passengers 45 Euros (around 48.5 US dollars). The nine extra-legroom seats will have an additional surcharge and will cost people €100 (around 107.9 US dollars) per journey.

<h2>A win-win situation</h2>

Coredon says that the adult-only zone will not only be a win for travellers looking for a quiet environment but would also benefit parents of little children.

It says, “The introduction of the Only Adult zone also has a positive effect for parents with children. They don't have to worry as much about possible reactions from fellow passengers if their child is a bit busier or cries.”

“They (parents) can enjoy the flight without worrying if their children make more noise,” says Atilay Uslu, founder of Corendon.
