Kim Kardashian says she didn't ruin Marilyn Monroe's dress during Met Gala 2022

Kim Kardashian turned heads at this year's Met Gala when she wore Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe's iconic 'Happy Birthday Mr President' dress.

A few days back, it was reported that the iconic dress, that Kim borrowed from Ripley's Believe it or Not, had gotten damaged. The museum had bought the dress at an auction in 2016 and Kim had lent it for Met Gala red carpet.

News of the damaged dress led to many assuming that it had been destroyed by Kim. But now Ripley's Believe It or Not! has refuted those reports and stated that it was "confident" that Kim had not caused any damage to the garment. The reality TV star received severe backlash online after photographs were posted on Instagram by a Monroe collector, Scott Fortner, claiming “significant” damage had been sustained.

The photos appeared to show significant buckling, ripping and even the loss of some of the crystals sewn onto the dress. There were also damages to the shoulder straps in a video shared by author Darrell Rooney.

Many pointed at Kim's eagerness to wear the dress for which she went on a crash diet in the weeks leading up to the fashion gala. She appeared in the original dress for the red carpet and accessorised it with a fur stole as she could not fully zip up the back. Kim later changed into a replica which was made to her size.

On Thursday, the company defended its decision to lend it to Kim and said the debate had been a helpful one for cultural conservation.

Kim Kardashian is not responsible for the damage of Marilyn Monroe's dress, says Ripley's Believe it or Not

Kim Kardashian has been slammed for permanently damaging a historic Marilyn Monroe dress after she wore it at the Met Gala 2022. Marilyn Monroe collection has shared before and after photos of the dress.

Did Kim Kardashian damage Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress?

Kim Kardashian`s Marilyn Monroe moment at the MET Gala 2022 was the most talked about look of the night. Some praised the Business Mogul for the way she carried the 60-year-old heritage while some were clearly not happy and thought it was an insult to the legend. But now, The "Kardashians" star is under fire because it looks like she may have destroyed the piece of clothing.

According to Page Six, the 41-year-old "Kardashians" star lost 16 pounds in the weeks leading up to the event in order to fit into the historic gown, and she even changed into a duplicate once she arrived at the party`s entry since she couldn`t move freely in the original.

"I`m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history," she said ahead of the party. "I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won`t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do."

However, it appears that simply posing for photos on the red carpet with Pete Davidson who later bleached his hair platinum blond to match his girlfriend`s Marilyn-inspired tresses, she may have harmed the "world`s most expensive outfit."

Pop Culture published side-by-side photographs of the gown from before and after Kardashian wore it at the Met on Monday. One of the snaps, especially around the dress`s back clasp, shows traces of stretched fabric and missing crystals.

"Kim should`ve never worn that dress, to begin with. I mean yes it`s nice to pay homage to Marilyn but she could`ve had a new dress made and replicated. This was a timeless and iconic artefact that`s been ruined," one person tweeted in response.

"Leave it to Kim to destroy a historical piece of art," another said.

A third wrote, "Congratulations to the Met Gala for showcasing a real-life example of why a conservation department like the Costume Institute is necessary for historically significant garments."

While some Monroe experts were `disappointed` to see Kardashian in Monroe`s "extremely fragile" gown at the Met, Ripley`s Believe It Or Not! Museum, which loaned the gown to the star and is now displaying it at its Hollywood location, previously told the Post that precautions were taken to avoid any possible damage.

Ripley`s said in a post-gala statement, "This was no easy decision for Ripley`s, however, Kim Kardashian has continued to show the utmost respect for this opportunity and historic garment. From extensive research to following guidelines such as no body makeup, only wearing the dress for the short red-carpet appearance, and making absolutely no alterations, she has become a steward and added to its history," as reported by Page Six.

Rapper Kanye West`s divorce lawyer has quit, citing an "irreconcilable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship".

The `Eazy` rapper had hired Samantha Spector to represent him in his split from Kim Kardashian just two months ago, after his previous attorney, Chris Melcher, was fired, but now the legal expert has filed a motion to be relieved as his counsel after there was an "irreconcilable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship," reports femalefirst.co.uk.

According to documents obtained by `Entertainment Tonight`, Samantha, who recently represented Nicole Young in her divorce from Dr Dre, has served Kanye with the motion and has communicated with him via email and through post, as well as through his new attorney Deborah Hong.

The motion stated: "Attorney has communicated with Ms Hong, an attorney-at-law, who has confirmed she is acting on behalf of Ye and should receive all communications directed to him."

Kanye fired his previous lawyer just two days before a hearing in which Kim was declared legally single.

It was claimed at the time his relationship with Chris had become "extremely difficult", with little communication between them and it seems the 44-year-old rapper may have been a difficult client to work with because at times, he had said he wanted to settle things with Kim, and at others, he expressed a desire to put up a fight.

It was previously claimed Kanye is trying to "disconnect" from the "drama" of his divorce.

A source said: "Kanye has been laying low and focusing on healing. He is trying to disconnect from all the drama that happened between him and Kim."

Kim had been subject to a torrent of abuse on Instagram from the `DONDA` rapper when implied that Kim had stopped "allowing" him to see their children after the divorce and he went on to release a music video which appeared to show him decapitating and burying Kim`s new boyfriend Pete Davidson.

However, the insider went on to explain that Kanye is now "taking care" of himself and will be "removing himself from all the craziness" after making his family his number one priority.
The source added: "He is focused on taking care of himself, getting healthier, and removing himself from all the craziness. He cares deeply about his family and kids. They are his number one priority and he`s working on himself."

In a video from Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum where she borrowed the gown, Kim can be seen panicking as her team struggled to zip her up. Kim had revealed that she forced herself to lose 16lbs in just three weeks in order to fit into the dress.
Kim Kardashian subtly supports beau Pete Davidson amid Kanye West feud

Kim Kardashian is now legally single from ex-husband, rapper Kanye West. The former couple were married for nearly 8 years before they announced their split.

A Los Angeles Angeles judge on Wednesday granted the reality TV star's request to be declared legally single. Kardashian had filed for divorce from West a year back, citing irreconcilable differences with West, who has legally changed his name to Ye. The couple has four children ranging in age from 2 to 8.

In the past few months, West, 44, had objected to the divorce and publicly appealed for his wife to return to their marriage. In recent Instagram posts, he criticized her parenting and her new relationship with 'Saturday Night Live' actor Pete Davidson.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran approved Kardashian's petition to end the marriage through a bifurcation proceeding, which allows for a change in marital status while other issues are addressed.

"The Court grants termination of the marital status," the judge said in a written order issued after a public hearing.
A representative for West did not respond to a request for comment.

West and Kardashian, 41, married in May 2014, making them one of the most talked-about celebrity couples in Hollywood, popularly known as "Kimye."

The couple's relationship became strained in 2020 when West, who suffers from bipolar disorder, ran an unsuccessful campaign marked by erratic statements to be elected US president under his self-styled Birthday Party.

The pair grew further apart with the 21-time Grammy winner spending most of his time at his ranch in Wyoming and Kardashian remaining in their Calabasas, California, mansion outside Los Angeles. Kardashian released a statement urging compassion for West’s mental health struggles.

The marriage was the first for West and the third for Kardashian after she had brief marriages with basketball player Kris Humphries and music producer Damon Thomas.
Kim Kardashian declared legally single from Kanye West by the court

He is just not willing to let go. Rapper Kanye West has produced an animated music video of his hit song 'Easy' with The Game, in which he fantasises about kidnapping and burying ex-wife Kim Kardashian's current boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Kanye has been publically outraging about Kardashian's new boyfriend for a while now.

West posted the claymation movie to his Instagram page on Wednesday, and in the black and white video, he is seen rapping while sitting on top of a wooden coffin.

A claymation version of Pete Davidson, is then seen getting kidnapped, tied up, and buried alive.
In a second post, 44-year-old West said he wasn’t harassing Davidson, he was just getting “payback.” “This boy thought he could get away with performing this sketch for the team that wrote this for him,” West wrote of the 2018 'Weekend Update' segment in which Davidson blasted West’s MAGA rant. “This is not harassment This is payback.” Neither Kardashian, who filed for divorce from West one year ago nor Davidson has publicly responded to West’s posts. I’m going to handle the situation myself.” West had also shared screenshots of Kardashian questioning why he repeatedly published their private exchanges on his social media, where he has more than 13.4 million followers. To which Kanye had responded, “Cause I got a text from my favourite person in the world. I’m your number one fan. Why Wouldn’t I tell everyone!!!!"

Kanye West 'aplogizes' for 'harassing' Kim Kardashian: I'm still learning in real-time

Kanye West and Julia Fox have reportedly ended their relationship. The couple did not spend Valentine's Day together.

A representative of Fox confirmed her break up with West to E! News. The couple had been dating for a little over a month.

"Julia and Kanye remain good friends and collaborators," her rep said in a statement on February 14, "but they are no longer together."

Kanye, 44, and Julia, 32, first sparked romance rumours during the New Year's Eve holiday after they were spotted spending time together in Miami. The stars then were photographed on multiple outings together in New York City.

Then, at the beginning of January, Julia spoke in detail about the duo's chemistry in an essay for Interview magazine. "It was an instant connection," she wrote at the time. "His energy is so fun to be around. He had me and my friends laughing, dancing, and smiling all night."

Kanye, on their second date, pulled out all stops and organised an elaborate photo shoot for Julia. The photos had the couple dressing up in the rapper's label and posing for steamy photos together.

In late January, the couple flew overseas for Paris Fashion Week, where they donned matching denim outfits.

While Kanye continued to court Julia, he also made his displeasure for estranged wife Kim and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson. Kanye, on various occasions, stated how he wanted to bring his family back together.

In fact, on February 14, Kanye took to Instagram to confess he's still hoping for a reunion with ex Kim Kardashian. He reportedly even sent her a large bouquet of flowers to mark the special day.
