<p>A televised Coronation Concert is being held in the grounds of Windsor Castle, west of London, on May 7 -- the day after Charles is officially crowned king.</p>

<p>BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore said the coronation was a "once-in-a-generation occasion" and called the concert line-up "world class".</p>

<p>But recent reports have said that a number of big-name stars have turned down the gig, including Adele, Elton John, Harry Styles and the Spice Girls.</p>

<p>They are said to have declined because of scheduling clashes or touring commitments.</p>

<p>But the Mail on Sunday said singer Kylie Minogue had refused given increased republican sentiment in her native Australia, where Charles is also king.</p>

<p>Some 20,000 members of the public and invited guests are set to attend in person, with the live event also broadcast on radio and online.</p>

<p>Other confirmed performers in the lineup include opera star Bryn Terfel, the singer-songwriter Freya Ridings and composer-producer Alexis Ffrench.</p>

<p>Perry -- who performed for US President Joe Biden's inauguration in 2021 -- as well as Take That and Richie all have links to Charles's charitable foundations.</p>

<p>Richie, who at 73 is just a year younger than the king, said the concert would be an "honour and a celebration".</p>

<p>Nonetheless, 46 percent of Britons said they would likely watch or take part in celebrations, including street parties and community lunches on May 8, which has been declared a public holiday.</p>

<p>Preparations were ongoing for the solemn religious ceremony, whose roots date back more than a millennium, and the guest list finalised.</p>

<p>Charles's younger son Prince Harry is set to attend, despite his public criticisms of the royal family since moving to the United States in early 2020.</p>

In a 3-0 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Flame, whose given name is Marcus Gray, did not deserve damages for copyright infringement over a musical pattern he said Perry, 37, borrowed from his song 'Joyful Noise.'<br />

The Pasadena, California-based court said the eight-note pattern, known as an ostinato, consisted "entirely of commonplace musical elements" that lacked the "quantum of originality" needed for copyright protection.<br />
<br />
A Los Angeles jury had in July 2019 awarded Flame and two other plaintiffs $2.79 million, including $550,000 from Perry and $1.29 million from her label Capitol Records, part of Universal Music Group.<br />
<br />
But the trial judge, U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder, set aside that verdict the following March, saying Perry did not infringe any independently protectable musical elements.<br />
<br />
Snyder ruled one week after the 9th Circuit decided in favor of Led Zeppelin in a similar case concerning the opening guitar riff to its song "Stairway to Heaven."<br />
<br />
The appeals court agreed that the "Dark Horse" jury verdict should not stand.<br />
<br />
"If we were to hold otherwise, it is hard to believe that any collection of pitches arranged in a flat rhythm could fail to meet the originality threshold," Circuit Judge Milan Smith wrote.<br />

Michael Kahn, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said his clients were considering their legal options.<br />
<br />
He said not granting "Joyful Noise" protection "runs contrary to a series of simple and clearly distinctive 8-note opening melodies" as in Dave Brubeck`s "Take Five," the Rolling Stones` "Satisfaction" and Beethoven`s Fifth Symphony.<br />

Perry`s lawyer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Christine Lepera, a lawyer for Capitol and Perry`s producers Cirkut, Dr. Luke and Max Martin, said they were "very pleased" with the decision.<br />
