Alongside the new additions to the squad, the Lancashire duo of Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Parkinson will be aiming to make their Test debut in the Caribbean having featured in previous squads.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) had launched an investigation into the post-Ashes drinking session involving Australia and England players. Some of the England and Australia cricketers were seen enjoying drinks late till morning post the conclusion of the Ashes 2021-22 in Hobart. The police had to intervene as the celebrations were deemed 'too&nbsp;loud'.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media which shows England skipper Joe Root and pacer James Anderson enjoying drinks with Australia's Travis Head, Nathan Lyon, Alex Carey and others. The video has reportedly been taken by England's assistant coach Graham Thorpe and was released by&nbsp;the Sydney Morning Herald.

The players from both sides were reportedly drinking late till 6 am and had to be asked to go back to bed by the police officers, who intervened in the celebrations after another guest staying at the hotel complained about the noise. The players were enjoying their drinks and celebrating on the terrace of the fourth floor of the Crowne Plaza hotel in Hobart.

"Too loud. You have obviously been asked to pack up, so we've been asked to come. Time for bed. Thank you. They just want to pack up," a police officer can be heard saying in the video, asking the group to go back to their rooms. The players can be seen leaving immediately without creating a fuss.

However, the video has left the ECB in an embarrassing position with captain Root pictured drinking and celebrating with the Australian players after England's shambolic 4-0 loss in the Ashes. England lost the first three Tests in a row before drawing the fourth one to avoid a clean sweep.

They would have hoped to end the series with a consolation win having already conceded the prestigious Urn. However, Australia continued their dominant run in the series and won the final fifth Test by 156 runs to remain unbeaten in the series.

"During the early hours of Monday morning, members of the England and Australia men's teams shared a drink in the team areas of the hotel in Hobart," ECB said in a statement.

"The hotel management received a noise complaint by a hotel guest, and as is commonplace in Australia, the local police attended the scene.

"When asked to leave by hotel management and the Tasmanian police, the players and management in question left and returned to their respective hotel rooms. England's last batting pair of James Anderson and Stuart Broad survived a nervy spell of two overs together to pull off a dramatic draw for the visitors after three back-to-back losses in the first three Test matches.

England were on the verge of losing their fourth Test in a row in the ongoing Ashes series after Steve Smith removed Jack Leach in the 100th over with the Aussies needing just one wicket to win. However, Broad and Anderson managed to hang on and save the Test match for the visitors.

While Broad scored 8 off 35 balls after coming out to bat at no.10, Anderson remained unbeaten on 0 while facing the entire last over from Smith. Stuart Broad and James Anderson steered England to 270 for nine at the close of play in the evening gloom, well short of the victory target of 388 but a huge turnaround after heavy losses in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins was unable to use pace in a tense final three overs because of the fading light and his predecessor Steve Smith took his first test wicket in almost six years to dismiss Jack Leach.

That left Australia needing one wicket in the last two overs but Broad and Anderson, despite the fielders crowding around them, stood firm to frustrate the home side.

"It`s been a difficult tour, but we stood up and found a way to get a result out of this game," said Root. 
"We wanted to put pride back into the badge. The way we went about it in this game, we did that. We know there`s a long way to go. It would be nice to front up again next week and go one better."

Monty said, "Yeah....It kind of has surprised few people how England lost these games. It started of when Joe Root won the toss at Brisbane and should've bowled in overcast conditions. Stuart Broad should've played at The Gabba and Jimmy Anderson is a better bowler away from the Gabba. There were some surprising decisions and also the lack of a frontline spinner. Jack Leach is a good bowler on turning pitches and, hence, was successful in India. However, in Australia, you have to control that one end...Even the overall attitude towards spin isn't encouragiing. In the second Test when spin was playing a huge part, Nathan Lyon bowled 25 overs out of 80 while England had only 20 overs from 150 overs allocated to spin. While he will miss the fourth Test, in Sydney, after his family member tested positive for Covid-19, Panesar sympathised with the former cricketer and shifted the blame entirely on the batters. The ex-spinner, who accounted for 167 Test scalps, feels more focus has to be on County cricket to revamp England's fortunes in Tests.

Panesar stated, "He (Silverwood) will be disappointed. Not to be there....Again, it will take him away from limelight as well. Possibly after the Ashes, maybe we see more detailed interview of Silverwood.....He is a decent and honourable man...extremely hard-working. He is a head coach who specialises in fast bowling...If you look at the Ashes, the bowlers have done well but the batting has been an issue.
