Anderson also spoke about Wood's batting and added, "His bowling helped his batting too. That 24 off eight balls made a real difference in that moment of the game. It was almost like a T20 impact. He did the same in the second innings. When bowlers go short like that and you need only 20 runs you know that even a top edge is going to go for six and make a big dent in the target. That is what he did."

The fourth and penultimate Ashes Test commences on July 19 at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. Ben Stokes &amp; Co. will be eager to level the series. England's James Anderson and Australia spinner Nathan Lyon recently got together to throw the ceremonial pitches for a Major League Baseball (MLB) game in London. Australia are currently in England for five-Test Ashes series.

The MLB game was part of a two-game series between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals held by MLB Europe in a bid to promote the game outside the USA. The Cubs won the game 9-1.

Veteran England seamer James Anderson was left disappointed with Edgbaston's pitch and said if curators continue to prepare similar surfaces for the games to continue, he is done with this Ashes. Following a two-wicket loss at the hands of Australia in the first Test, Anderson slammed the lifeless surface, saying the pitch had nothing for the bowlers.

"If all the pitches are like that, I'm done in the Ashes series," Anderson wrote in his Daily Telegraph column. "That pitch was like kryptonite for me. There was not much swing, no reverse swing, no seam movement, no bounce, and no pace."&nbsp;

In one of the rare moments in Tests in England, Anderson neither started the innings nor did he bowl with the new ball during the fag end on the final day, when Cummins and Lyon walked away with the win. Upset over the change in routine for him, Anderson added he even approached captain Ben Stokes over the same and sought clarity.

“I didn’t take the new ball in the first innings or late on the final day. I had a chat with Ben Stokes about how I felt. We agreed it was the type of pitch the taller bowlers were getting more out of. I was completely on board with that," Anderson wrote.

The legendary seamer, who is 14 shy of his 700th Test wicket,&nbsp;a first for a fast bowler in the format's history, admitted not being on top of his game in the first Test.

“I know I wasn’t on top of my game this week. It was not my best performance," the veteran seamer added.

<h2>'You can't pick wickets everywhere'</h2>

Though Anderson doesn't need to prove himself, the English pacer accepts trying to hone his skills for all conditions over the years.&nbsp;But with time, he realised that one bowler can't take wickets in every game. In the first Test, Anderson picked just one wicket across two innings.

“I’ve tried over the years to hone my skills so I can bowl in any conditions, but everything I tried made no difference. I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle. There was a bit of rustiness, but I gave it everything I could. Having played for a long time, I realise you can’t take wickets in every game. Sometimes it is not your week. It felt like that for me," Anderson also wrote.

Following the first Test result, England might tweak the Playing XI, with Anderson likely to retain his place. Latest reports from the English camp suggest Mark Wood could replace spinner Moeen Ali for the Lord's Test, which starts next Wednesday, June 28.

Speaking on how Bazball has helped him, Broad said that appointment of McCullum and Stokes has definitely helped Anderson. The pacer also spoke about his partnership with Anderson and said that communication is the key between them.

"He's probably grown as much in the past year as anyone, with Baz and Stokesy taking over," Broad added. "How I view our partnership is our job is to figure out conditions in those first 10 overs with the new ball quicker than the opposition batters."

"That's when we make breakthroughs and that comes through communication. It's just a constant, like, information stream that comes our way and there's no doubt that that's taken our partnership to the next level," added Broad.

The five-Test series is all set to start from June 16 in England.

When you look at the bowling attack that we've got with this pink ball especially under lights ... we executed everything as well as we wanted to. "Well, you know what? I thought, I knew we were going to talk about this today. So, on the train, on the way down, I thought 'right, I'm going to just get my thoughts together and try and eloquently lay my views out for everyone'. Within 30 seconds of thinking about it, I was fuming. It just infuriates me those people, I mean it infuriates me just because I think it's because I've been brought up, you know, in teams where we just wouldn't even consider doing something like that. And yes, it's in the laws of the game right now and they have obviously changed it so it's now a run-out," Anderson said on BBC's Tailenders Podcast.

"I think now I really hope that players stay in their crease, just don't give people the option of doing it. I feel so much for Charlie Dean because she got herself in a position where she could have possibly won the game for England. She managed the game situation brilliantly, I don't think she was trying to steal a run, she just drifted and that is a natural thing for the batter to do, to walk along with the bowler," he went on.

"The issue for me was that Deepti was never thinking about bowling that ball. She was watching Charlie Dean the whole way and the moment she stepped out; she ran her out. That is what frustrates me about that dismissal. There has been a chat about giving warnings and the England camp talked about how there were no warnings. I don't see it as a legitimate dismissal when I play cricket. Where is the skill in that? It is just a sneaky way of getting someone out, I do not like it," said the England pacer.

When asked what could be the possible solutions to ensure the batters do not take advantage by backing up too far out of the crease at the non-striker's end, Anderson said the team can be penalised runs but the batter should not be dismissed.&nbsp;

Durham pace bowler Matthew Potts will make his international debut in the first of three tests between England and New Zealand at Lord’s starting on Thursday in what will also be his inaugural first-class match at the world’s most famous ground.
