According to a report by the news agency AFP, the UN relief agency for Palestinian refugees, also known as the UNRWA, said that wheat, flour, and other supplies had been looted from several of its warehouses. "Thousands of people broke into several UNRWA warehouses and distribution centres in the middle and southern areas of the Gaza Strip, taking wheat flour and other basic survival items like hygiene supplies," the UNRWA said. The UN agency also said one of the warehouses in Deir al-Balah was storing supplies from convoys carrying humanitarian aid which started to cross into Gaza from Egypt on October 21. 'Aid coming to Gaza insufficient' After Hamas went on a rampage against Israel on October 7, the Israeli government imposed a total blockade on food, water, medicine, and fuel deliveries into Gaza. The first convoy of humanitarian aid entered Gaza only two weeks after the conflict began. Since then, the UNRWA said that 84 aid trucks crossed into Gaza but aid agencies say the numbers were far too low. Before the conflict, UN figures showed an average of 500 trucks a day entering Gaza. "Civilians in northern Gaza and Gaza City should temporarily move south of Wadi Gaza to a safer area where they can receive water, food, and medicine," IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said. "The humanitarian efforts to Gaza, led by Egypt and the United States, will be expanding," he added. As the Israel-Hamas war enters its 21st day, the internet is appalled as videos of a new TikTok trend are going viral. In these videos, people, allegedly Israeli citizens, can be seen mocking Palestinians.

This comes as the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry&nbsp;released a list of names of almost 7,000 Gazans it said had been killed in Israeli strikes.

<h2>A mockery of tragedy</h2>

In these videos, people can be seen mocking different aspects of Palestinian suffering. Due to the sensitive nature of the videos, we have not attached them here, but they can easily be accessed on all social media platforms.&nbsp;

An alarming aspect of these videos is the small children&nbsp;who can be seen taking part in the taunting.

Donning keffiyeh — a traditional headdress worn in many Middle Eastern nations, including Gaza, these people can be seen wearing makeup to appear injured and sprinkling talcum powder to make it seem like they're covered in dust or debris. In some videos, people carry dolls swaddled in cloth — a mockery of reports of the mothers who have lost their babies to the Israeli strikes.

One such video poking fun at Palestinian mothers by an Israeli influencer identified by The Express Tribune as Eve Cohen sparked controversy earlier this week. Cohen in the video allegedly claimed that mothers are faking the deaths of their children.

In others, they flaunt water, or light candles in the dark — jeering at Palestinians who have gone without water and power for days.&nbsp;

<h2>A wave of outrage</h2>

The videos by Cohen and others have predictably sparked widespread outrage. Netizens are calling out people in the videos for their apparent lack of sensitivity towards the Palestinian plight.&nbsp;

On X, one user questioned, "Is Palestinian genocide the new source of Israeli comedy or something?"

Another said that the videos were an "example of the anti-Palestinian racist conspiracy theory of 'pallywood,' where some Zionists argue that Palestinians manipulate media through 'faking suffering' - unsurprisingly, it's also very similar to anti-Semitic tropes too. Very telling about Israel supporters."

One user labelled the videos 'revolting' and cautioned, "Karma never fails, by the way!"

Expressing alarm at these videos that also feature small children, one user wrote: "Wtf??? There kids are learning how to be racist from a very young age!!!!!!!!!"

Others quoted the Bible and posted: "Galatians 6:7 (KJV) Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

The Israeli military on Tuesday (October 24) dropped leaflets in Gaza urging Palestinians to provide information about hostages being held by Hamas. The military has offered protection and a reward to those who give information.

When they launched cross-border raid into Israel in October 7, the Hamas terrorists captured more than 200 people.

"If your will is to live in peace and to have a better future for your children, do the humanitarian deed immediately and share verified and valuable information about hostages being held in your area," the Israeli military said in the leaflet.

"The Israeli military assures you that it will invest maximum effort in providing security for you and your home, and you will receive a financial reward. We guarantee you complete confidentiality."

Israel says that foreign nationals are among the hostages who have been taken to Gaza. The exact whereabouts of those abducted are not known.

Hamas on Tuesday, freed two elderly hostages. Yocheved Lifshitz (85) and Nurit Cooper (79) were among the people abducted by Hamas terrorists on October 7.

While recounting her ordeal, she said that she 'went through hell'

She described how the terrorists "went on a rampage in our kibbutz, kidnapped me, lay me over a motorcycle... and sped off with me through the ploughed fields". She added that the fighters beat her on the way.

"...they didn't break my ribs but hurt me very much," she said.

She however said that during captivity, "they treated us well" adding that her captors were courteous and a doctor visited every two to three days.

Lifshitz's husband is still in captivity.

"They had everything that men and women needed including shampoo," she told journalists. "We ate the same food they did -- pitas with cream cheese, melted cheese, cucumbers."

Notably, the US president’s departure came after the Palestinian militant group said they had freed two more female hostages abducted from Israel.&nbsp;

This comes days after an American mother and daughter duo Judith and Natalie Raanan were freed. Israel, earlier on Monday, increased the number of those abducted to 222.&nbsp;

The Vatican earlier said the call, which lasted about 20 minutes, “focused on conflict situations in the world and the need to identify paths to peace.”

Prior to the US president’s remarks, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters that Washington has rejected calls to pause operations and said that a ceasefire would “give Hamas the ability to rest, to refit and to get ready to continue launching terrorist attacks against Israel.”&nbsp;

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Monday (Oct 23) that he expected the 27-nation bloc’s leaders to call jointly for a “humanitarian pause” to let aid into Gaza given the dire conditions.&nbsp;

However, Miller said that the US was separately working to ensure a flow of humanitarian relief into Gaza with its envoy, David Satterfield, on the ground working “intensively” on aid.&nbsp;

Israel had a “legitimate right” to strike against “a terrorist organisation that has embedded its infrastructure inside civilian buildings”, including schools and hospitals, said Miller when asked about Israeli strikes in Gaza.&nbsp;

He added that Washington is advising that Israel “should do that in a way that minimises to the maximum extent possible civilian harm".

Lianne, the girls' mother, had initially come to Israel as a volunteer on a kibbutz when she was 19.&nbsp;

The incident, as per the Minneapolis Police Department incident report as cited by CBS News, happened near the junction of Hennepin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue.

Police report that various witnesses claimed that a vehicle had driven through the gathering, trying to plough them down. One person also reported hearing the sound of a gunshot.&nbsp;

However, at the time of this report, there were no reported victims, and no one had come forward with injuries related to the demonstration.&nbsp;

Videos show the driver of the car completely ignoring a barrier of vehicles set up to block off a part of the road for protests.

People tried to push the car back into the traffic, and at one point, opened the door to try and, pull the driver out, reports Mirror.

However, the driver escapes, with some shouting protesters chasing the car.

The Minneapolis Police Department is currently conducting follow-up investigations into the incident. As it does so, they clarified that no arrests have been made thus far.&nbsp;

The aid, consisting of essential items such as life-saving medicines, surgical supplies, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets, is slated to enter Gaza through Egypt's Rafah Crossing Point.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) played a crucial role in the delivery, dispatching nearly 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief materials on an IAF C-17 flight. The cargo is currently en route to El-Arish airport in Egypt, where it will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent. From there, it will make its way into Gaza, offering a glimmer of hope to a population grappling with an acute humanitarian crisis.

Adnan Abu Al-Haija, the Palestinian envoy, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for this timely support. In an exclusive conversation with WION, he said, "I would like to thank the Government of India for this humanitarian step. And I think our people in Gaza need the medicine, need this kind of relief. The situation after 15 days of complete closure of food, water, medicine, oxygen, and petrol."

When questioned about the possibility of additional aid from India, Adnan Abu Al-Haija stressed the importance of political actions accompanying the humanitarian support. He acknowledged India's friendship with both Palestine and Israel, urging a concerted effort to halt the ongoing conflict. He stated, "We are also looking for political attitudes. I know India is a friend of both Palestine and Israel, and this war should be stopped from one side, and humanitarian aid should go to the people of Gaza."

On the start of the international aid via Rafah border, Adnan Abu Al-Haija expressed his concerns about the scale of the crisis, noting, "What they have sent yesterday, 20 trucks, 2.3 million living (in Gaza), this is nothing. So, we need pressure on Israelis, pressure from the international community to break down the siege, and humanitarian aid should go as soon as possible."

He also drew attention to the issue of clean water, stating, "Especially the wells of Gaza, if you make a well, there is no sweet water, because this occupation of Gaza has stolen all water from Gaza to their farms, so there is no sweet water in Gaza; we need that as soon as possible. We need pressure from the international community."

Israel-Hamas war: Lebanon's national carrier halves flights amid rising tensions

At least 300 people were arrested after demonstrators from two progressive Jewish groups descended on the United States Capitol building in Washington DC, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza amid the ongoing war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. This came after the rally in Washington drew thousands of people inside and outside the Capitol building on the day that President Joe Biden was in the midst of a visit to the war-torn nation.&nbsp;

The war is nearing the two-week mark and has led to significant civilian casualties in both Israel and Gaza. More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed since Hamas’ attack on October 7 and thousands of others have been wounded.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, according to the Palestinian health ministry, the death toll in Gaza stood at 3,785 as of Thursday (Oct 19), with around 12,493 people injured.&nbsp;

<h2>'Ceasefire now'</h2>

The rally which was organised by two progressive Jewish groups – Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and IfNotNow – according to organisers drew a total of 10,000 people inside and outside the Capitol and called for a ceasefire in Gaza.&nbsp;

However, a group of around 400 people entered the rotunda of the Cannon House office building on Wednesday (Oct 18) afternoon inside Capitol Hill. The group was reportedly led by about 25 rabbis reading testimonials from Palestinians in Gaza and reciting prayers.&nbsp;

The demonstrators dressed in black T-shirts carried banners and placards which read “Jews say cease-fire now” and “Not in our name” while activists sat clapping and singing on the floor.&nbsp;

“We shut down congress to draw mass attention to the U.S. complicity in Israel’s ongoing oppression of Palestinians,” said the Jewish Voice for Peace in a statement on X.

It added, “Just as we demand an end to genocide in Gaza, we must put the same effort into dismantling the systems of Zionism, apartheid, and colonialism that brought us to this moment.”

"We are trying to keep the essential services," Dr Subhi&nbsp;Sukeyk, the director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, told Al Jazeera, adding that services like radiology had already ground to a halt.

Gaza's electricity, which is partially reliant on Israeli power lines, had been severed. Furthermore, the local power plant, which is dependent on Israeli fuel imports, was shut down over a week ago due to the siege following the October 7 attack by Hamas, which has already claimed over 1,400 lives.&nbsp;

On the Gazan side, the relentless Israeli airstrikes have further claimed over 3,300 lives — a third of this, as per Al Jazeera, are children.

With the potential closure of the sole cancer hospital, a different kind of devastation is gripping Gaza.&nbsp;

"The intensive care unit needs a lot of electricity to operate, and so do the oxygen machines," stressed Sukeyk, highlighting the critical need to keep the facility operational.

A shutdown would jeopardize the lives of countless patients reliant on the hospital for timely and indispensable cancer treatments.

"Some patients' chemotherapy had to be delayed. But they are due, they must have this treatment to prevent the tumour from spreading to their bodies, and organs," added Sukeyk.

On Wednesday, Biden will meet Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv for talks. The US secretary of state, Antony Blinken, has already made two trips to Israel since the Hamas attack on 7 October.

Later, Biden is expected to fly to Amman in Jordan for talks about accelerating humanitarian assistance to Gaza, where he will meet Jordan’s King Abdullah, the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas.

TikTok 'stands against terrorism,' launches measures to control misinformation amid Israel-Hamas war

The Indian Army is closely observing the ongoing Israel-Hamas war to draw lessons in order to enhance India's defence, said a report in The Hindu. The report, citing defence sources, said that use of power gliders by Hamas militants to cross over to the Israeli side is in particular focus.

“The aerial attacks, especially the use of power gliders, is of particular concern for us. The idea of the study is to quickly draw the lessons relevant to our context,” the publication quoted a source as saying.

Use of power gliders was one of the tactics used by Hamas militants during their initial attack on October 7. The gliders enhanced the element of surprise in the Hamas attack as its fighters were able to bypass physical barriers on ground and make their way into Israeli territory unobstructed.

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan on Sunday (Oct 15) slammed some of its officials on X, and "severed ties" with those who shook hands with an Iranian minister.&nbsp;

The United Nations was accused by him of "living under a rock" and having "blood on its hands". "The UN's support for and legitimisation of genocidal terrorists is a threat to civilization!," Ambassador Erdan wrote in one of his posts.

The ambassador was apparently miffed by a post shared by Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-ordinator Martin Griffiths. "The specter of death is hanging over #Gaza. With no water, no power, no food and no medicine, thousands will die. Plain and simple," Griffiths had posted.

The comment reflected the stance of the United Nations on a warning issued by Israel to the people living in North Gaza, asking them to move south ahead of an expected ground attack by the Israeli forces.&nbsp;

Nirim is less than a mile from the border with Gaza. A day prior to the Hamas attack, the residents reportedly spent Friday (October 6) celebrating the anniversary of the kibbutz’s founding. A few of the residents reportedly revealed the terror which unfolded a day after the celebrations were marked. They could not believe the horrors they woke up to the next morning.&nbsp;

"The United States should practically play a constructive and responsible role, pushing the issue back on track for a political settlement as soon as possible," Wang told Blinken, reported news agency AFP citing a readout published by the Chinese foreign ministry.

"When dealing with international hot-spot issues, major countries must adhere to objectivity and fairness, maintain calmness and restraint, and take the lead in abiding by international law," said Wang.

He then said that China called for "the convening of an international peace meeting as soon as possible to promote the reaching of broad consensus".

China has warmer ties with Iran which has voiced support of militant group Hamas for launching unprecedented attacks against Israel.
