Rain interruptions led to a draw in Brisbane, with the series scorecard reading 1-1 heading into the Boxing Day Test at the MCG starting December 26.&nbsp;

Australia batted first at the Gabba, with only 13.2 overs possible on day one. Day two was all about Travis Head and his love affair with scoring runs against India as he slammed his second straight ton in the whites. Australia scored a whopping 445 in the first innings.

In reply, India scored 260 all out, with KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and the tailenders contributing with the bat.&nbsp;

Australia suffered a mini-collapse in their second innings, getting reduced to 33 for five at one stage, with Pat Cummins declaring on 89 for seven, setting India 275 runs to win.

The visitors came out for a mere formality as the final rain interruption forced the umpires to call off the game, leading to no result.&nbsp;

“He’s just so unique. Isn’t he in his action the way he runs up,” McGrath said while doing commentary for ABC Sports during the Adelaide Test. “It’s not something you teach young bowlers to do, but he’s found a way. He ambles in, and then the last two steps just powers through the crease while such great areas.

“He’s quite hyper-mobile in his joints and sort of got a great wrist and very good control. Ball moves both ways, so, he’s full package,” McGrath continued.

“Well, you’ve got a whatever their natural ability is, and I saw Jasprit when he was younger, he had a good pace, but his action was completely different,” McGrath recollected.

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez says he is waiting for a strong and surprise response from the government and the PCB on Team India’s travel stance on Champions Trophy 2025. A day after the ICC informed Pakistan of BCCI’s final decision not to send their team across the border for the eight-team tournament, citing security concerns, Hafeez took to social media to share his thoughts.

Hafeez wrote on X that it was a daydream to think that India would travel to Pakistan for the coveted tournament, adding that Pakistan is a ‘safe’ country to visit and play cricket in.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the BCCI conveyed its final decision to the apex body, with the ICC formally writing to the PCB on Sunday (Nov 10), informing them of Team India’s stance. Wouldn’t it benefit youngsters like (Yashasvi) Jaiswal and Sarfaraz (Khan), who are playing on Australian pitches for the first time, to get some runs under their belt and get a feel of what the pitches will be like?&nbsp;

"And if they get out early, they can still get into the nets and practice against the throw-down specialist or the net bowlers. For bowlers like Akash Deep and Harshit Rana too, it’s essential to know the best length to bowl in Australia, as it’s different from India, and the best learning is in a proper match and not just net practice.&nbsp;

"Let’s just hope that good sense prevails, and even now, though it’s too late, some warm-up games can be arranged, even if it’s against the State A teams like Queensland A and Victoria A. Australia batting great Steve Smith also noted how crucial this training session would be at the centre wicket at WACA, which will have conditions similar to the ones at the Optus Stadium, the venue for the first match.

The veteran number three batter for India has found his Midas touch in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, whacking a brilliant 234 for Saurashtra – his 18th first-class double hundred, which is the most by an Indian. Since being dropped from the Indian Test Team last year, Pujara returned to the English County, playing for Sussex, for whom he scored two tons this season.

Looking beyond his marathon knocks against the Oz all these years, Pujara’s greatest efforts included his innings in the third Test in Sydney, wherein he scored twin fifties, but that’s not even the best part about it. While Pujara batted 176 balls in the first innings, he eventually broke the camel’s back with his gritty 205-ball 77 in the second innings, batting for endless hours and blocking everything coming his way.

What was the cherry on the top? The blows he took hurt him badly, but the Aussies more, who, for the second time in two series, failed to break Pujara’s concentration and defence.

With the stars aligning for Pujara just in time for the Border-Gavaskar series, we could see him return to the Test side for his last tour Down Under.

To that extent, I don't think that Siraj has delivered."

Karim added, "Akash has got enough experience of bowling on such tracks in Indian conditions because he's been around for a number of years for Bengal. So you would look to have somebody on your side who has the experience of bowling on such tracks, even though the tracks have been lifeless."

Akash made his Test debut early this year, during India's home games versus England. In three Tests, he has accounted for eight scalps and looked in good rhythm, with his pace, action and control. Siraj, on the other hand, has been ordinary in India's home Tests this year. Hence, it will be interesting to see if the Indian team management drops him for the penultimate Test to allow him to rejuvenate and comeback stronger.

"It felt great yesterday because I had been bowling with half a run-up on and off since I can't put too much stress on my body," he said during an event organised by Eugenix Hair Sciences in Gurugram. "Yesterday, we decided that I would bowl properly, and I gave my 100%. It felt great, [and] the results are good. Hopefully, I'll be back on track soon."

When asked if he’s pain-free, having gone under the knife earlier in February, Shami said 100%. The right-arm seamer, however, has a whole month to attain match fitness and fight for a spot in the XI for the first Test in Perth.

"The Australia series is still far away. The only thing I want to focus on is how to keep myself fit, and how strong I can be before going there. I know what kind of an attack we want for that Test series, so it's better I spend some more time on the ground before going. If I get fit and I get a gap of eight to 10 days, then it's better I play one or two domestic matches before going to Australia."

"I don't know when I can play next, but the day I feel comfortable about bowling 20-30 overs and I get the nod from the doctors, I'll run to play a match. I want to spend as much time as I can on the ground before going for the Australia series,” he continued.

Talking about his time off the field, Shami reflected on what good it did to his mindset, helping him become more patient and realise how much fitness matters to a cricketer.&nbsp;

"Don't get frustrated and focus as much as you can on fitness and game," he said about spending months off the field. "It's very difficult to come back on track after an injury, so patience is the biggest thing. Injuries teach you patience, and that makes your skill purer."

"Fitness is the main thing [you have to focus on in recovery]. You shouldn't doubt your skill and talent when you're away because certain things are built in you. I agree you need something like rhythm, but your skill will never leave you. It's your fitness you have to fight for,” he added.

I know what kind of an attack we want for that Test series, so it's better I spend some more time on the ground before going. If I get fit and I get a gap of eight to 10 days, then it's better I play one or two domestic matches before going to Australia." "I don't know when I can play next, but the day I feel comfortable about bowling 20-30 overs and I get the nod from the doctors, I'll run to play a match. I want to spend as much time as I can on the ground before going for the Australia series,” he continued.
