<p>England batter Ben Stokes scored 64 in the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Australia on November 4 but it wasn't enough as defending champions lost the game by 33 runs. Stokes also hit three sixes in his innings and one of them broke a chair as well. Stokes' innings came at a time when England were looking good to win but crumbled after his wicket.</p>

<p>As for the six, it came off Travis Head's ball in the 32nd over when Stokes deposited a short ball over deep midwicket area. The ball hit a chair and made a hole into it before bouncing ahead. Have a look at the video here:</p>

<p>The England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced some new measures to tackle discrimination in response to this summer's Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) report. <p>Speaking about ECB's immediate plan, Gould said: "We have two priorities at the moment in terms of finances for the game."</p>

<p>"One is ICEC, to ensure we can deliver on those [recommendations] and the wider discussion on EDI [equality, diversity and inclusion]. The other is to make sure that we don't lose all of our best players to a variety of different franchise tournaments around the world," he added.</p>

<p>In a big blow to New Zealand's squad for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup, veteran fast bowler Tim Southee has suffered a thumb injury, putting his participation in the quadrennial tournament in doubt. Southee suffered the injury during the last ODI of four-match series against England on September 16 at Lord's.</p>

<p>Southee was fielding at first slip when he suffered the blow to thumb while trying to take a catch to dismiss Joe Root. He immediately let his discomfort known and was escorted off the field with a medical team member. <p>But, with England white-ball captain Jos Buttler officially rested from the game, New Zealand took four wickets for 35 runs -- with left-arm spinner Santner returning fine figures of 3-30.</p>

<p>"We were far from our best in the first two games and the last two have been closer to what this side is about," New Zealand captain Tim Southee said at the presentation ceremony.</p>

<p>"They (England) got off to a great start tonight but we knew that if we kept taking wickets it was the best way to slow them down. We were trying to be smart and make them take aggressive options."</p>

<p>Stand-in England captain Moeen Ali said: "They (New Zealand) bowled really well but we just lost some momentum after the powerplay so that was disappointing."</p>

<p>He added: "They had a brilliant start with the bat too and then we couldn't wrestle it back."</p>

<p>England were 105-1 off 11 overs after Moeen won the toss.</p>

<p>But Santner led New Zealand's fightback in the field with a haul that included the prize scalp of Bairstow in an innings where the next highest score was the 26 made by both Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone.</p>

<p>Bairstow dominated the powerplay with three legside sixes, pacemen Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson the bowlers to suffer.</p>

<p>But his assault ended when he failed to clear long-on after lofting Santner down the ground.&nbsp;</p>

'Disappointing,' says England batter Harry Brook after being snubbed from provisional ODI World Cup squad

<p>The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to move the date of England vs Pakistan ICC ODI World Cup game from November 12 to 11. The game is scheduled to be held in Kolkata's iconic Eden Gardens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The request was made to Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, after city police met CAB officials. The CAB officials were informed about potential security situation on the match day in the meeting. The original date, November 12, clashes with Kalipujo — one of the city and region's marquee festivals.</p>
