I am very honoured and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”</p>

<p>Music's A-listers will celebrate a new crop of legends entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend, among them country queen Dolly Parton and rap agitator Eminem.</p>

<p>Pop futurists Eurythmics, smooth rocker Lionel Richie, new wave Brits Duran Duran, confessional lyricist Carly Simon and enduring rock duo Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo round out the class of 2022.</p>

<p>The Cleveland-based Hall of Fame -- which surveyed more than 1,000 musicians, historians and industry members to choose the entrants -- will honor the seven acts in a star-studded gala concert on Sunday at Los Angeles's Microsoft Theater.</p>

<p>The inclusion of Parton, 76, prompted a characteristically humble response from the beloved icon, who initially requested her name be taken out of the running.</p>

<p>"Even though I'm extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I don't feel that I have earned that right," said the music pioneer, who's penned thousands of songs including "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You."</p>

<p>But voting was already under way, and the Hall of Fame insisted she was far more than a country star.</p>

<p>"With her trailblazing songwriting career, distinctive voice, campy glamour, business savvy and humanitarian work, Dolly Parton is a beloved icon who transcends the genre she transformed forever," the organization said.</p>

<p>For years the institution has defined "rock" less in terms of genre than of spirit, with a number of rappers, pop, R&amp;B and country stars included.</p>

<p>"I just felt like I would be taking away from someone that maybe deserved it, certainly more than me, because I never considered myself a rock artist," Parton said later.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But obviously, there's more to it than that."</p>

Naomi Judd (1946-2022): Celebrities mourn the death of legendary singer

<p>Singers Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie, rapper Eminem and new romantic band Duran Duran were among the first-time nominees announced on Wednesday for possible induction into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame.<br />

Singer Carly Simon, musician Beck and hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest also made the list for the first time.<br />
<br />
There are a total 17 contenders for 2022 induction, also including singers Kate Bush and Dionne Warwick as well as bands Eurythmics, Devo, Judas Priest and Rage Against The Machine. Late Nigerian singer Fela Kuti is also on the ballot.<br />
<br />
Performers become eligible 25 years after their first commercial release.<br />
<br />
"This year`s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture," John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement.<br />
<br />
"Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed."<br />
<br />
Taking into consideration the length of their career, musical influence and body of work among other factors, inductees are chosen via ballots sent to more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry.<br />
<br />
The general public can also participate online or at the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The top five musical acts voted for by the public are then submitted as a fan ballot among the other ballots.<br />
<br />
The organisation will announce those who have been selected in May and they will then be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony in the autumn.<br />
Last year, singer Tina Turner, rapper Jay-Z and 1980s female pop group The Go-Go`s were among those chosen for induction into the Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame.</p>

Taking into consideration the length of their career, musical influence and body of work among other factors, inductees are chosen via ballots sent to more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry. The general public can also participate online or at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The top five musical acts voted for by the public are then submitted as a fan ballot among the other ballots. The organisation will announce those who have been selected in May and they will then be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony in the autumn. Last year, singer Tina Turner, rapper Jay-Z and 1980s female pop group The Go-Go`s were among those chosen for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

<p>Dolly Parton gave $1m as donation. It all happened in April when she donated £800,000 to research after her friend Dr Naji Abumrad of the Vanderbilt Institute for Infection, Immunology and Inflammation at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee told her that they were making “some exciting advancements” in the search for a cure for the virus.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Abumrad and Parton became friends in 2014 after the singer was involved in a car accident and treated at Vanderbilt.</p>

<p>As for the vaccine, Moderna has said it could potentially produce 1bn doses of the vaccine by the end of 2021 and is applying for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).</p>

<p>According to the news agency, in an interview with 'Time 100 Talks: Finding Hope', for the magazine's special series, the '9 to 5,' Parton explained her position, noting that it's "kind of a tricky question" when asked by TIME Editor-in-Chief Edward Felsenthal what her stance was.'</p>
