Reflecting on his preparation, he said, "Over the last 12 months, I have focused more on my game and mental strength. Cricket is evolving rapidly, and I want to ensure that I keep up with its pace. The level has already gone very high. I began with the domestic season, which is crucial for us. During the off-season, I worked at the NCAA and with my state team. Overall, it was a successful domestic season, and now my mission is to perform better than last year&rsquo;s IPL and help my team lift the trophy."

"To be honest, I evaluate my game and identify areas of improvement. My hitting ability has improved compared to two years ago&mdash;I have gained strength and worked closely with my trainer. However, I don't specifically train for power-hitting. I focus on understanding my strengths and refining my game accordingly, " he explained.

Faf has smashed 2,718 runs in 74 matches in the past five seasons as a top-order batter.

"Our coaches and scouts have done a superb job at the mega-auction by putting together a balanced and robust squad, which has tremendous potential. We have plenty of leaders in the group, which is also very helpful for me, and I can't wait to join the team as we look forward to a very successful season for the Capitals, backed by the immense love and support of our fans," he added.
Previously, Axar had led&nbsp;DC in one off-game in the 2024 season but faced a loss in it. The 31-year-old has also led his team Gujarat in 23 domestic matches across formats, with most recent being in T20 tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
