Chisako Kakehi, 74, was sentenced to death by hanging in 2017 for the murder of three men -- including a husband -- and the attempted murder of another, in a case that gripped Japan.

Two years ago, a high court dismissed an appeal by the serial killer who pocketed millions in insurance payouts and inheritance, drawing comparisons in the media with the spider that poisons its mate after copulation.

On Tuesday, Supreme Court presiding judge Yuko Miyazaki said "the death sentence is unavoidable" because Kakehi's "criminal responsibility is extremely grave", public broadcaster NHK reported.

The defence lawyers had claimed Kakehi was incapable of going through trials due to dementia, and she told Yomiuri TV before the ruling that she "did not want to die".&nbsp;

Kakehi reportedly amassed one billion yen ($9 million) in payouts over 10 years, but subsequently lost most of the fortune through unsuccessful financial trading.

She had relationships primarily with elderly or ill men -- meeting some through dating agencies, where she reportedly stipulated that prospective partners should be wealthy and childless.

Cyanide was found in the body of at least two of the men she was involved with and police reportedly found traces of the poison in the rubbish at her Kyoto home.

The news comes as a blow to theater chains which have absorbed heavy losses during a year of unprecedented closures that has also seen the traditional "window" in which new releases can only be seen on the big screen all-but obliterated.

Pixar's Italy-inspired animation "Luca" will now only appear on Disney+, from June 18, while live-action "Cruella" featuring Emma Stone will appear on big and small screens from May 28, the company said.

Black Widow&nbsp;was originally due for release in May 2020, before Covid struck. Its latest delay meant another film in the record-breaking Marvel franchise -- "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" -- has itself been postponed to September.

Movie theater operators, after a year of dismal ticket sales during the pandemic, are hoping a lineup of superheroes, fighter pilots and cinema`s most famous spy will help them stage a comeback in 2021. 
 
Roughly two-thirds of theaters remain shut in the United States and Canada, normally the world`s largest film market. Box office receipts in 2020 plunged 80% from a year earlier. 
 
But theater owners and industry analysts see reason for optimism as COVID-19 vaccines roll out and James Bond, Black Widow and other heroes star in new blockbusters set to begin lighting up screens in the spring. 
 
"I think we`ll see a lot of improvements throughout 2021, but I do think it will take some time to get there," said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst with BoxOfficePro.com. "It won`t be an overnight return to normal by any means."

Australian scientists said on Wednesday they have given five fly species scientific names that pay tribute to the Marvel comic universe.

The five flies were part of 165 discoveries named by the scientists over the past year, which included two fish, three subspecies of bird, and even a mite that lives on a lizard, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) said in a report.

“We chose the name Humorolethalis sergius,” Lessard said, referring to the Deadpool’s fly. “It sounds like lethal humour and is derived from the Latin words humorosus, meaning wet or moist, and lethalis meaning dead.”

While two species are named after wise-cracking anti-hero Deadpool and another after superhero creator Stan Lee, the other three are named for Marvel characters Loki, Thor and Black Widow.

The final trailer shows how the red room- an intensive training camp- teaches young girls to be fierce and daredevil spies. The trailer also gives a glimpse of Natasha's arch-enemy taskmaster who is responsible for brainwashing an entire new breed of soldiers.

Natasha along with sister Yelena (Florence Pugh)set out to take him down for good.

While there`s still no footage to feast on, the very first poster for the film has landed and it is everything! Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development and Concept Artist Andy Park shared the poster on Twitter, writing, "BLACK WIDOW!!! Official D23 poster I had the honour of painting. Black Widow (Johansson), in a brand new stunning black and grey colour suit and a new hairstyle. Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) are on either side of Natasha. Harbour`s Red Guardian is almost identical to his comics` counterpart with the exception of his beard. Johansson`s Natasha first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2010.The plot of the superhero flick has largely been kept under wraps. The long-awaited film was confirmed at Comic-Con to be the first movie of Marvel`s Phase 4, reported Entertainment Weekly. Johansson`s has played Black Widow, a major role in seven Marvel movies, tracking her evolution from morally dubious Russian assassin to a world-saving Avenger. Johansson was last seen as `Black Widow` in the hit 2019 film `Avengers: Endgame`, in which she sacrificed herself to save Hawkeye (played by Jeremy Renner) and get the Soul Stone from Vormir during the `time heist`. Australian director Cate Shortland is helming the film, which also stars Rachel Weisz as Melina, `Stranger Things` David Harbour as Alexi, `The Handmaid`s Tales` O-T Fagbenle as Mason, and `Midsommar`s Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova. Shortland is best known for her films `Somersault`, `Lore` and `Berlin Syndrome`.The film is slated to hit the big screens on May 1, 2020.
