Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic has been in the spotlight in the last couple of days after reaching his record-breaking 60th Grand Slam quarterfinal. However, it is not his records that are stealing the spotlight, but his interviews where he yet again attracted public attention. Having labeled a section of the Wimbledon crowd ‘disrespectful’ on Monday (July 8), Djokovic’s latest row came against a journalist. Gettingirritated by questions surrounding the crowd during a BBC interview, Djokovic slammed the journalist and preferred on-court attention rather than off-court.
Djokovic back in the spotlight
“Do you have any other questions other than the crowd? Are you focused only on that? This is the 3rd question,” Djokovic said during the two-minute interview.
Having answered questions on his crowd reaction after beating Holger Rune in straight sets, the former champion answered wisely before losing his cool. He answered the earlier questions on the crowd, but when asked for the third time, he was having none of the BBC journalists and slammed him for repeated questions on the crowd.

The Serbian will take on Alex de Minaur of Australia for a place in the semifinal on Wednesday with him being the favourite to advance. The 37-year-old’s prime focus will now be on winning his eighth Wimbledon title which could also mean he bags a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title. If he manages to win the Wimbledon title, he will become the most successful singles player of all time in any gender where he will leapfrog Margaret Court’s tally of 24 Grand Slam titles.
On the other hand, Djokovic’s win at Wimbledon this year will also see him join Roger Federer for most men’s singles Grand Slam titles on the grass court. Currently, Federer has eight titles while Djokovic is level with Pet Sampras with seven titles.
