'I'll be there...,' J.J. Watt to return for Houston Texans in upcoming season? Here's what DE said

Former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt says 'he'd return to play for Texans if they really need him.' Watt, who played for the Houston Texans in 10 of his 12 NFL season, made the comments in Houston on Saturday (May 4). The 35-year-old former DE had last played in the NFL in 2022.
"I'm a very fortunate, lucky man," Watt said, per the Houston Chronicle. "I have a beautiful wife, I have a beautiful son, I've had 12 great years in this league and I'm very thankful to have walked away healthy and playing great."

"I told DeMeco last year; I said, 'Don't call unless you absolutely need it. But if you ever do call, I'll be there.' And he knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it."
Watt and DeMeco Ryans had played together in the former's rookie season in 2011. Ryans, who was a linebacker with the Texans, was appointed the head coach last season.
It is although seems bleak that Watt will come out of the retirement unless tragedy hits the Texans early in the season. Watt also has said that his offer will not stand forever.

"This is the last year I'll tell him that, because I'm not going to keep training the way I've been training," Watt continued. "But he knows that if he ever truly does need it, I'll be there for him. I don't anticipate that happening because they have a very good group."
Talking about Watt's stats, the DE played in 151 games in his career for Texans (2011-2020) and the Arizona Cardinals (2021-2022). He has 568 career total tackles to his name to go with 114.5 sacks as well. His best year in the league was 2012 when he registered 80 total tackles and 20.5 sacks in the season.
In his last season in the league, the big DE registered 39 total tackles to go with 12.5 sacks in 16 games.
