Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will visit Pakistan on June 27 to hold delegation level talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Ghani made the announced regarding his visit during a message to the nation to Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim holiday that marks the end of fasting month of Ramadan.
The visit comes after the two leaders met last week on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Saudi Arabia.
"I hope the visit will be positive," Ghani said.
According to a report, during the meet, both leaders will holddiscussions on issues ranging from the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) to border and security. They will also talk about the repatriation of Afghan refugees.
Earlier in May, both leaders spoke on the phone during which Khan had invited Ghani to the country. During the call, Khan had stressed on the need of delegation level talks on "technical issues". He had also endorsed Ghani's regional economic integration vision.
The visit will be first since 2015 during which he had held talks with members of Pakistan's security forces in Islamabad. He had also visited the military's general headquarter in Rawalpindi and discussed ways to tackle terrorism.
Kabul routinely accuses Pakistan of harbouring its Taliban enemies, however, in recent months Islamabad has lent its support to US efforts to broker an end to Afghanistan's long-running war.
