She received positive reaction at first on Tuesdaybut when she uploaded her first product on Twitteron Wednesday, things took a sharp turn.
She posted a picture of herself wearing heavy coats of contour and highlighter with the caption, "Beauty Creme Contour & Highlight Kit". she received mixed response for posting a black face picture. While some fans were happy and supported her contour kit, others slammed her for darkening her skin tone.
People objected that black skin is not a costume and that it should not be used for modelling.People posted comparing pictures and old pictures of Kim on Twitter to point out her excessive contouring.
“Black women get told to lighten. Meanwhile, Kim spends her entire career in perpetual blackface and is lauded for her beauty,” tweeted one user.
While some also supported by posting old pictures of Kim saying that it's a natural tan.
Beauty standards have definitely changed over the years. From the time when black women were asked to lighten their skin tone, now the white women are applying heavy coats of contour to darken their skin. America used to have white supremacist beauty standards which now seems to be shifting.
