Most of the security arrangements have already been put in place on the track with two wings of security, Railway Police Security (RPF) and General Railway Police (GRP), are fully dedicated to the security of railway stations and tracks. There will be CCTV connectivity at every station, every tunnel, and every bridge.</p>

<p>These will be controlled round the clock by railway and security officials in several sub-control rooms.</p>

<p>A former female Maoist from Malkangiri, Odisha, informed Shah that she had got married to a fellow cadre who had undergone a vasectomy.</p>

<p>Eventually, her husband got killed in a police encounter and she decided to surrender, said the woman.</p>

<p>Another former Maoist from Telangana remembered how he had gotten his vasectomy done and then got it reversed after he entered the mainstream.</p>

<p>“When I was a member of the CPI (Maoist), I had to go for 'nasbandi'. But after I gave up arms and joined the mainstream, I underwent another operation so that I could become a father. After the second operation, I became the father of a boy," he said.</p>

<p>Minister Amit Shah also met a group of former Maoists at an event in Jagdalpur city of the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on Sunday (Dec 15).</p>

<p>Delhi continued to experience a coldwave for the second consecutive day on Monday (Dec 16), as temperatures plummeted across the Indian capital city.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Safdarjung, a key weather station representing the city’s weather, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, which is four degrees below the normal for this time of year.</p>

<p>Much of north India is facing a cold wave now.</p>

<h2><strong>More cold is expected in the coming days &nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the cold wave will intensify in the coming days. Due to calm winds and high humidity, shallow fog is also expected to develop in several areas, further lowering temperatures.</p>

<p>The minimum temperature at Safdarjung is expected to remain around 5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (Dec 17).</p>

<p>The IMD confirmed that both of these areas were experiencing coldwave conditions on Monday.</p>

<h2><strong>Coldwave warning for northern Indian states &nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>In addition to Delhi, the IMD has issued a coldwave warning for several northern states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of western Uttar Pradesh.</p>

<p>These regions are likely to see continued cold weather in the days ahead.</p>

Vijay Diwas 2024: History, significance, wishes and everything you need to know

<p>Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has passed away at a hospital in San Francisco, his family confirmed on Monday (Dec 16). Hussain, 73, died due to complications arising out of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a rare lung disease, the family said in a statement, as reported by news agency PTI.</p>

<p>"His prolific work as a teacher, mentor and educator has left an indelible mark on countless musicians. He hoped to inspire the next generation to go further. He leaves behind an unparalleled legacy as a cultural ambassador and one of the greatest musicians of all time," said his family.</p>

<p>The tabla maestro had been hospitalised for the past two weeks and was later moved to the ICU as his condition worsened.</p>

<p>Speaking to PTI, Hussain's sister Khurshid Aulia said,&nbsp;"He passed away very peacefully after the ventilation machine was switched off. This was 4 pm San Francisco time."</p>

<p>Hussain is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola and his daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi.</p>

<p>Born on 9 March 1951, Zakir Hussain was the son of legendary tabla master Ustad Alla Rakha.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Considered the greatest tabla player of his generation, Zakir Hussain's illustrious career spanned six decades and earned him a number of national and international accolades, including four Grammy Awards, including three at the 66th Grammy Awards earlier this year.</p>

<p>He was also the recipient of Indian civilian honours&nbsp;Padma Shri (1988), the Padma Bhushan (2002) and the Padma Vibhushan (2023).</p>

<p dir="ltr">Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher urged the residents of Punjab’s 13,000 villages to block railway tracks from 12 to 3 pm. “We appeal to everyone living near railway crossings to join this movement,” Pandher said at a press conference at the Shambhu border in Patiala.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Pandher also reached out to Rakesh Tikait-led Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), the prominent farmers' group that led last year's protest against the now-repealed farm laws. In a letter, Pandher invited SKM to join the 'Rail Roko' protest, calling for unity despite past differences. “Let’s unite for the welfare of farmers and labourers,” Pandher stated.</p>

<p>Atul Subhash's father on Saturday (Dec 15) pleaded for the custody of his grandson, saying that the family was worried about him.</p></p>
<p>This comes hours after Atul's estranged wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, and brother Anurag were arrested for allegedly abetting his suicide. </p>
<p>The techie's father questioned where was Atul's four-year-old son and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and others to ensure his grandson's custody. </p>
<p>Meanwhile, he also thanked the Bengaluru Police for arresting the accused, further saying that he still has not received justice as a new case has been filed for maintenance in the name of his grandson. </p>
<p>"We don't know where she has kept our grandson. Has he been killed, or is he alive? We don't know anything about him. I want my grandson to be with us," Atul's father said.</p>

For a grandfather, his grandson means more than his son... The whole society, people are standing in my support...," Pawan Kumar told ANI.</p>
<p>Atul's brother Bikas Kumar Modi also expressed concerns regarding the whereabouts of his nephew and said that two arrests in the case were yet to be made. </p>
<p>"Our biggest concern right now is that we don't know where my nephew (Atul Subhash's son) is. We couldn't find him in the photograph circulated by the police. We want to know where he is. I thank the Karnataka Police for arresting these three... Two other arrests are pending. I hope they will also be arrested soon...," Bikas Kumar Modi said. </p>
<p>Earlier, three people were arrested in connection to the suicide case of Indian techie Atul Subhash, including his estranged wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, and brother Anurag for abetment to suicide.</p>

<p>The arrests were made days after the 34-year-old techie accused Nikita and her family of extortion and harassment in an over-an-hour-long video and died by suicide.</p>
<p>In the suicide note, Atul wrote in detail about the mental agony he went through because of his wife and in-laws. </p>
<p>Nikita and her family were on the run since the video shot by Atul went viral.</p>
<p>The police had registered an FIR against the accused at the Marathahalli police. After Atul's wife Nikita went absconding, a notice was pasted by the Bengaluru Police outside her residence in Jaunpur city of Uttar Pradesh asking her to appear in the next three days.</p>

<p>Officials reported that Rajput fell under the right rear tyre of the bus and suffered severe head injuries. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.</p>
<p>The electric buses are currently leased by the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking. Following the accident, the police arrested the bus driver, 39-year-old Vinod Aabaji Rankhambe, and conductor Avinash Vikramrao Gite under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act. India: Biker killed by BEST electric bus days after deadly Kurla accident left 7 dead

<p>In a shocking incident, a man chopped off four fingers due to work pressure. The man worked as a computer operator at his relative’s diamond firm and cut four fingers of his left hand using a sharp knife, Gujarat's Surat police said on Saturday.</p></p>
<p>Mayur Tarapara, 32, took the drastic step as he did not have the courage to inform his relative that he no longer wanted to work at his firm due to the immense stress and pressure he faced at the workplace.</p>
<p>According to the police statement, the loss of fingers would have made Tarapara unfit for the job as he worked as a computer operator in the accounts department of Anabh Gems, located in Varachha Mini Bazaar.</p>

<p>Earlier, the victim told the police that he was on his way to meet a friend on December 8 on a motorcycle. He felt dizzy and fell unconscious by the side of a road near Vedanta Circle in Amroli.</p>
<p>When he woke up after 10 minutes, he discovered four of his fingers had been cut off. The police first suspected that the fingers may have been taken for black magic purposes, and a case was registered at Amroli police station.</p>

<p>“Tarapara confessed that he bought a sharp knife from a shop near Char Rasta in Singanpore. Four days later, on Sunday night, he went to Amroli Ring Road and parked his motorcycle there. At around 10 pm, he cut off four fingers with a knife and tied a rope near the elbow to prevent blood flow. He then put the knife and fingers in a bag and threw it away,” the official said as per the PTI report.</p>

The man worked as a computer operator at his relative’s diamond firm and cut four fingers of his left hand using a sharp knife, Gujarat's Surat police said on Saturday. Mayur Tarapara, 32, took the drastic step as he did not have the courage to inform his relative that he no longer wanted to work at his firm due to the immense stress and pressure he faced at the workplace. According to the police statement, the loss of fingers would have made Tarapara unfit for the job as he worked as a computer operator in the accounts department of Anabh Gems, located in Varachha Mini Bazaar. He felt dizzy and fell unconscious by the side of a road near Vedanta Circle in Amroli. When he woke up after 10 minutes, he discovered four of his fingers had been cut off. The police first suspected that the fingers may have been taken for black magic purposes, and a case was registered at Amroli police station. The officials examined the CCTV footage, deployed technical surveillance, and gathered human intel. The investigation revealed that Tarapara’s injuries were self-inflicted. “Tarapara confessed that he bought a sharp knife from a shop near Char Rasta in Singanpore. Four days later, on Sunday night, he went to Amroli Ring Road and parked his motorcycle there. At around 10 pm, he cut off four fingers with a knife and tied a rope near the elbow to prevent blood flow. He then put the knife and fingers in a bag and threw it away,” the official said as per the PTI report. <p>As per the locals, the Bhasma Shankar temple had existed since 1978 after communal riots led to the local Hindu community's displacement.</p>
<p>Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vandana Misra, who was heading the campaign against electricity theft in the area, said that the officials stumbled upon the temple while carrying out an inspection in the region.</p>

<p>Acharya Brahm Shukla, who performed the aarti at the temple, said to ANI, "We came in the morning and cleaned the temple to perform the aarti. A Brahmin should be appointed here so that he can stay here. Till the time caretaker (for this temple) is appointed, we will take responsibility."</p>

<p>The officials said that CCTV cameras were also installed for security purposes.</p>
<p>Sambhal Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vandana Misra said that the anti-encroachment drive was carried out for structures built on public property and added that the officials will restore the temple to its original structure.</p>
<p>"We have written to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)...Police will be deployed near the temple," she said.</p>
<p>District Magistrate (DM) Rajendra Pensiya said that the ancient well close to the site will also be opened.</p>
<p>"The (ancient Lord Shiva) temple is being cleaned. A ramp had been built over the ancient well. When we dismantled the ramp, the well was revealed," said DM Pensiya.</p>
<p>On November 24, Sambhal got embroiled in violence after tensions erupted over the survey of Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid on orders of the court.</p>

Now, with me gone, there won't be any money and there won't be any reason to harass my old parents and my brother. I may have destroyed my body but it has saved everything I believe in." </p>

<p>The victim, 25-year-old Deekshik Vinod Rajput, was riding his motorcycle when a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus collided with him. The incident took place near Shivaji Nagar as the bus was heading towards the Kurla bus station.</p>

<p>Officials reported that Rajput fell under the right rear tyre of the bus and suffered severe head injuries. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.</p>

<p>The electric buses are currently leased by the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking. Following the accident, the police arrested the bus driver, 39-year-old Vinod Aabaji Rankhambe, and conductor Avinash Vikramrao Gite under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act. Authorities confirmed that further investigations into the matter are ongoing.</p>

Over a 100-metre stretch, the bus struck 30 to 40 vehicles before crashing into the RCC column of the Solomon Building, breaking its compound wall, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).</p>

<p>In that case, the bus driver, 54-year-old Sanjay More, was arrested. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle while operating route A322 from Kurla station to Sakinaka. Police charged More with culpable homicide not amounting to murder after learning he lacked experience driving electric vehicles (EVs). Investigators are also looking into whether the driver recklessly used the bus as a "weapon" in a congested area.</p>

At around 10 pm, he cut off four fingers with a knife and tied a rope near the elbow to prevent blood flow. He then put the knife and fingers in a bag and threw it away,” the official said as per the PTI report.</p>

The police brought all of them to Bengaluru where they were produced before the magistrate. The police had registered an FIR against the accused at the Marathahalli police. After Atul's wife Nikita went absconding, a notice was pasted by the Bengaluru Police outside her residence in Jaunpur city of Uttar Pradesh asking her to appear in the next three days. The techie even wrote a 24-page suicide note detailing his harassment. A detailed suicide note was found by the police in which every page started with "justice is due". It was also alleged by Atul that his wife's family had asked him to pay Rs 3 crore as a divorce settlement. In the suicide note, Atul wrote, "The more I work hard and become better at my work, the more I and my family will be harassed and extorted and the whole legal system will encourage and help my harassers... Now, with me gone, there won't be any money and there won't be any reason to harass my old parents and my brother. I may have destroyed my body but it has saved everything I believe in." He further said that his estranged wife and her mother had twice instigated him to die.
